Loreos has a long history of growing grain and cereal crops, indeed the province has been called the breadbasket of Roawia. So far however, the climate in Ad Undas has not proven suitable for traditional grain crops such as wheat and barley. That has not stopped some enterprising Loreesi, who have established terraced rice fields in the hills behind Port Valiant. Rice was introduced to southern Loreos from the Outlaw lands a long time ago and is a staple amongst the desert tribes. A agricultural build for the colonisation challenge.

Traitors and Theives by Justin, on Flickr “For conspiracy against the Prince, the spreading of misinformation, and attempted murder, Tyrel Escavar is sentenced to death!” The crowd roared as the frantic young man was brought forward, his hands bound behind his back. The executioner forced him to his knees, then pressed his face to the chopping block. “No please, there’s been a mistake!” The man cried as he struggled. Trenton clenched his teeth. There was no mistake, he knew that, the investigation had revealed Tyrel’s guilt and implicated half a dozen others who were being held on suspicion. As the Governor of Port Valiant it was his duty to be present for the executions although he hated it. He had killed his fair share of men in combat, but somehow the execution of dangerous criminals turned his stomach. The executioner’s sword fell cutting off Tyrel’s desperate pleas. The crowd roared as his head fell into the empty basket, it would not be alone for long. “For multiple accounts of armed robbery, theft, and assault, Gregor Kartright is sentenced to death!” And so it continued. Trenton stood firm and watched each execution. One by one they came, struggling or resigned, begging or cursing, until the basket was full and the crowd’s bloodlust sated. Then the Vice Councilor sent them back to their mundane lives and Trenton entered the Hall of Justice, on whom’s steps still flowed the blood of traitors and thieves. This is a build for both the Loreos LC XXIV and a military build for the Colonization Global Challenge for Lands of Roawia.

Congratulations to our GCXIV Restricted finalist Mark of Falworth with his Elephant Artillery. However, we still have a tie in the Bignette category between mattiusxavier and myself. How do we want to handle this? A third poll? Lenfald also currently have a tie in their bignette category between Sir Caelan Munro and Kingdomviewbricks. One suggestion is we pick their finalist and they pick ours? Any ideas or thoughts???

Yay! I might actually win a GC this time! (I've never won ever!) I like the idea of picking each others moc finalists. I'd say go with that.

I like the idea of each group picking the others finalist, that's the fastest way to resolve it.

Unfortunately Lenfald resolved their tie! We will probably need yet another snap vote...

How is everyone doing on the LC? I have completed about 40% of my entry, my wife is away out with the wee one in an hour so I will get a couple of hours to work on it today. I expect to enter something prior to the deadline!

Working away ... the 40 x 40 footprint makes for an interesting sized build. A lot bigger than I imagined.

Got my LC entry done...enjoy. Giscu and his men had skirted south of East Stowburn through the Idail Plains, and entered the city of Salus through the northern gate, where a coin to the guard captain had informed him that towards the west gate of the city was where the merchant was to be found.
He left four men to guard the horses while he continued on foot with Sabur and two more guards. The old tribesman had grumbled about being made to walk like a commoner, but his protest was weaker than Giscu expected. The streets of Salus were narrower than Civus Skudae, so mounted men would attract too much attention trying to barge through the throng of squawking traders, hurrying servants and destitute beggars.
He knew that there would be spies even this far south. Since Lenfald had declared their freedom a nervous air had hung over Loreos, as if the war everyone feared was just round the corner. The Skudae had adapted so much over the last few years, but in order to match their knightly foes they needed more heavy cavalry. They would be the hammer that would smash through the enemy once the nimble horse archers, for which they were famed, had worn them down. And the best bit was that if this visit could be kept discreet, no-one would be expecting it.
For this new discipline to become a reality, they needed horses. The small ponies bred by the tribesman were not sufficient to carry the weight of a rider in armour, so they had come to the place where the best horses in all of Loreos, and therefore Roawia, were trained: Salus.
As Giscu and his men walked through the archway of the merchant's building the stable boy ran to fetch his master, who was a swarthy Loreesi with the blue dyed hair and beard trendy this far south. He smiled at Giscu but showed no such warmth when he caught sight of Sabur, unwashed and dressed in rags. It was clear he didn't know of the Skudae custom to avoid bathing.
"Welcome kind Sir, how can I be of help today?", the merchant opened, clasping his hands and making an attempt at a bow.
"I am here to purchase 20 of your finest stallions. Battle trained if possible, but I will take them regardless."
The merchant gave a loud chuckle, which was rude enough even to distract Sabur from his stroking of the horses.
"A fine thought. But, such is the quality of my steeds that this request would be something only Prince Jarius could afford!"
Giscu said nothing, allowing the uncomfortable silence to grow. Sabur walked slowly in his awkward bowed gait behind the merchant, circling like a lion round its prey. The merchant kept facing forward to Giscu, but beads of sweat began to appear at his temple.
"Lord", the merchant began, finally addressing Giscu in a manner befitting his station, "I am here as you require of me, but such an order would require some evidence of your...standing. The sum will not be trivial."
Finally, Giscu relented, and pulled a letter from his sleeve. "You said only Prince Jarius could afford this extravagance, well, you might just be right. This letter is from him, ordering you to provide me with these beasts at the earliest opportunity."
"But...I had...no idea...", the merchant muttered as he read the letter. "I have 15 trained horses at the stud farm 10 miles west of here, and 5 more adults which can be battle trained within...three months."
"Two months.", Giscu said harshly, before grabbing the letter back. "Contact the Prince regarding the payment, I am only interested in the animals. I will be back for all 20 when they are trained. And should my spies hear any word of this deal, I'll be back for your tongue too.", and with that he turned on his heel and left. Sabur, and the two guards who were watching the street, stepped in behind him.******************** Based on the Mauyran stable from the RTS 0AD. More pictures on Flickr.
