Ok let me know. I will be at Brickcon this year (barring any emergency). I've got a flight booked and picked up some luggage today. Stoked to hang out with you northwesterners!
Altogether, I can bring about 2,000 castle minifigs (mostly red dragon knight themed, a few hundred are blue lion Knights). I also have slews of goblins, orcs, troll minifigures as well. Would love to incorporate any of this stuff with you gents.
If there is any room, I can squeeze the tan baseplates down to as many as would fit, and I can have up to 40 if there is room.

I've talked to Josh, the castle coordinator, and he thinks there will be room. We need to figure out the rough size of our displays so that we can alert Josh as well as the overall event coordinator to ensure we are allocated enough space.
For my part, I'm shooting for my layout to be about 4 large plates wide by 2-3 deep. Roughly 5'x3'. Any fellow collaborators planning on contributing to the winter layout, let me know how big you think you'll be going.

Ok great. I'll plan on bringing a 4x10 display with minifigs duking it out in the desert with some terrain and possibly an oasis to break up the monotony.

Schmidt, is that 4x10 "small" plates then, correct? If you've got mainly dragon knights, I can supply some Garhims to square off with them. Somewhere in the range of 200-300, I think. I've also got several of the large dragons to contribute to the bad guys side, which can save you some luggage space since they are pretty bulky. We can keep my minifigs on certain baseplates to help keep them separate, or use some other feature like landscape or oasis to divide up the armies. Dragons should be easy enough to keep track of, I think.

It is the 32x32 studs Jordan. The standard tan ones, whatever dimensions they are. That's great about the Garheim, since I only have have a few hundred. I had planned on bringing two dragons, so if you have some too, even better!
So what exactly is the theme? It looks like it says madness on the website?

Yep. It's pretty open to interpretation, as far as I can tell. One of the most vague themes we've ever had. I suppose an all-out battle royale counts as "madness", right?

The theme is wide open that's for sure. I am up for a winter build again. I should have an idea of size soonish. Just started the castle proper and don't know how much surrounding area I'll be able to pull off. Perhaps we should ask people who may not be able to build a whole structure to build a winter landscape scene on a 32x32 plate and we could peice those together around all the castles and other structures in the collab?

Hi guys! Though it's somewhat unlikely, there is a possibility that I will be able to attend brickcon this year. If I can, I'd love to help out with the castle display! Here's a WIP of what I'm planning to bring so far: images.mocpages.com/user_images/124995/14656042941_SPLASH.jpgI'll be able to do some more building over the summer, so I should be able to get some more stuff built. If there's any part of the display that needs more sections, let me know, and I can build for those.

That's looking great! If it's not too far along, you could always convert that to a winter scene and we could figure out a way to add it to the winter layout.

I could also build some additional winter scenes to bring along. I have plenty of white bricks to make some snowy landscapes. Again, I'm not entirely sure if I can be there, but if I can go, I'd be glad to help!

I also have a ton of random castle figs and accessories that I'll probably bring along.

AK, I think I will be about 6 plates square. I will send you some kind of footprint or something when I have that figured out for sure. Should we plan on being neighbors? I haven't gotten any response from Josh.

Sounds good to me, Jim. Let me know once you've got your layout figured and I'll match mine up.
