Greetings all BrickCon attendees! As you know, it's never too early to start discussing our annual collaboration, as October always seems to be here sooner than you'd think! My understanding is that the main castle collab is going to be an expansion/continuation of the floating islands that we started last year. Also, I'll be doing a winter layout again, hopefully also expanding it a bit more this time, and anyone who would like to get in on that with surrounding landscape or buildings/castles/etc. is more than welcome (Bigger Jim and Sean E. joined last time and it was a pretty big hit). In case you missed it last year, here are a couple of pictures of both collab sections: Elysian Isles by Sean Edmison, on Flickr Floating islands by Sean Edmison, on Flickr Mikithdar Stronghold by Sean Edmison, on Flickr BrickCon 2015 favs by Jim Lovett, on Flickr

I'll let someone else take the lead on the floating islands, but as far as the winter collab goes, I'll be building a new bigger, more convention-friendly castle (the effort building the interior was pretty wasted last time) and also some landscaping. I've also been building up a small army of Chima winter bears, and would like to do a battle scene somewhere using those either as-is, or converted to Yeti warriors, an example of which you can see here: Mikithdar Stronghold by Sean Edmison, on Flickr

I will mostly be doing space stuff, but I should have a large caste build by the time of the con.

Are you wanting to incorporate it into the winter layout, or will it be a stand-alone build?

Are you wanting to incorporate it into the winter layout, or will it be a stand-alone build? I'm not sure, after a get more of a design going instead of a very rough concept, I'll decide. I like the idea of a winter layout, I might shift my plans into more of some peasant houses, as opposed to a traditional castle.

Curse you northwesterners! I would come to the event but alas, NYC is too far away. Have a good time guys!

This year's theme is "MOC-ing History", so I'm open to ideas on how to interpret that.

I've almost convinced my wife to let me fly to brickcon this year.
In the event such a feat happens, I certainly wouldn't be able to build, but could provide a slew of minifigures for displays. Would there be any room for them?

Ha! That would be aweeeesome! And of course, we can always find a place for a massive fig battle, even if it's just on a bunch of baseplates, haha.

So I've been checking flights and hotels. Looks like the Maxwell is the most feasible option, since I would be without transportation. Do any of you all live fairly close to the convention center? I'm thinking I might need to mail my LEGO to Seattle, rather than try to pack it into a checked bag!

You can always mail it to me and I can bring with me to the convention center. If you're doing the Maxwell, I think they do a discounted rate for the Convention. Check out the BrickCon website for info on that, I think.

Thanks Jordan. Maxwell offers a decent convention rate, but man taxes are high! I'll never complain about 6% tax again! I'm thinking around 40 sand baseplates and 2,000 minifigs would be my contribution. The same thing I'm taking to BFVA.

I'm checking with Josh to see how we are looking on space. Last year, Castle was pretty squeezed, but Pirates can maybe be tightened up to free up some space.
