I agree with everybody about bley rock-work and stuff, I recently tried dark tan though, and it worked really well. I now want to hit up normal tan because that is a pretty earthy color that could fit well in some mocs. Wouldn't it be called sandwork at that point though?

Sandstone is a stone, very prevalent on every single continent minus antarctica, i am sure you can work it into any MOC's you make for LOR or the like. i was thinking of doing layered rock faces, like what you see when sedimentary rock is exposed and you get the rainbow of rock colours. i thought that might be neat, but am struggling with how to do it with my limited brick selection in other colours.

i am getting to be a huge fan of the burnt/earth orange colour... i have a masonry brick in it... i cant find where the heck it would have come from as brick link doesnt think it even exists. You're not talking about the "medium dark flesh" color? www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=98283

it might be, i think it confused me because the picture doesnt change between them to show the difference, but it is definitely darker/more orange than the tan bricks.

thanks AK, i actually had that guy bookmarked via the BL save seller thing. i am just holding off buying any new lego for the next month as in one month, 31 days, i go on vacation... To San Diego, and on my 30th birthday, October 26th, i am heading to Lego Land California in Carlsbad. the plan is to spend a few hundred ($800 or so) on LEGO at Legoland California and the Lego Store in the mall in Sandiego that apparently has a really really nice PAB wall... only thing that sucks about the Lego Land is that no VIP points, but meh, i think i shall survive. gonna hit the San diego Zoo, Seaworld, a few military museums, microbreweries, and have a overall great time... and then come home and spend what ever money i have left at the LEGO store that is only 3 hours from me. yeah, kinda went off topic a little there... kinda getting excited for it now.

i don't suppose you are going to show us pictures of it before you take it out there? some of us live in the middle of nowhere and don't get to go to cool things... literally, my town was chosen by the government to put an air base because of the vast amount of nothing around us.... in northern Canada... so doubly nothingness...

I generally use DBG for rocks and LBG with mottled spots of DBG for walls. Fav color could be dark orange or dark tan. Purple is great too, it's my favorite color outside of Lego.

sadly, because of the base we are actually one of the most likely targets of an attack as taking out our base would open the north of north america on the russian side to be almost completly defenceless... i was talking to the old base commander about it, and he was very frank that "an attack is nothing a citizen should be concerned about" or as i heard it... "if there is an attack, the base will be protected and the town and go burn" we would actually be a target because of the base and the large amounts of oil coming from the region. so i was thinking of trying to replicate a CF-18 and see if a local fly boy would buy it for mucho dollars from me...

Big fan of DBG myself. I actually used DBG in my pirate build and then transitioned to brown rock next to wood structures. That was interesting!
I am actually building my first spaceship for Brickcon and am using a ton of DBG on that atm.
