I just completed this MOC yesterday so I don't think it is to late to upload it today! This MOC is a continuation of the story on my Character Myles and his sister Gloria. Hope you guys enjoy the build and be sure to check out the story on Flickr!

Nice little MOC you have here. I think your archer towers are good, and the little wooden section you have is nice and adds a little color. I am really intrigued by your arch over the gate, that is quite neat. If I had any (very tiny) suggestions they would be this. 1.) I think the flag would look better on the castle battlements rather than the grassy section outside the walls. 2.) I think it might look a tad better (and slightly more realistic) if the brown plates for the pathway extended to the end of the MOC. Nice colors though, and its really nice to see your black base complete with darkbrown tiles. These are good to have. I am interested in knowing if you completed the tiles and base behind the MOC

Thanks Schmidt! The suggestions are great and in hindsight, I see that the build could have really been improved by extending the path toward the border. About the back of the MOC.......Well this is actually the first MOC that I have made that I didn't finish the back....I plan on not doing this infuture builds at is detracts from the build. Awesome MOC Valiant! My only major critique is that the path could be extended, but apart from that I love it!

I typically don't finish the back of my builds, but now it is starting to bother, as if I don't have the patience of the "quality" of work to finish them, so I am going to start to finish mine It's sad, because it means I can usually only photograph from a couple of different angles because I am trying to hide so many things!

Unfortunately, I'm in the same situation! I should be able to finish a castle like this, though, if I ever build one.

As this was the first build that I never completed, it was more from laziness than not having the pieces. I think it sacrifices the quality of a build to not complete the back just because you don't have the time. It seems to say to those viewing that you didn't put as much effort as you could have into it. This is something I never plan on doing again, unless the build is extremely large and it is unreasonable. But still even in large builds guys like Derfel Cadarn still manage to fit detail everywhere!!

Nice build. I'm with the others who have suggested extending the path. In fact, if it were me, I'd try to break up the green a bit even off the path. That could be through the use of brown with grass or weeds on top (weeds do grow out of dirt, after all), and/or by adding some different colored branches or plants or flowers, or maybe even the occasional rock. You'd be surprised how just a couple of 1x1 round tiles or similarly small details can make a big difference in how believable the overall piece is.
Cheers, Sean

I really like this build. One thing I do to recess the tiles is use headlight bricks. Also if you throw a few Light Bley as well it really creates that pocked texture. One thing that might really make your foliage pop us using dark green leaves or Dark green plates underneath the lighter green plants. Also a few dark green spines work great and some grass. I like how clean the build is and your towers are pretty sweet.

Everyone else covered the landscape, so I'll give you a tip on the structure First, let me say that you have a LOT of good stuff going on as far as features and texture. One thing that I'd suggest though is doing something to break up the relatively flat face of the building. The protruding archway is a good start, but why not have the whole gate protrude from the wall by a stud or two? Or you could do the same with the towers. This would help to define each feature (tower, gate, tower) instead of it being a long wall that happens to have a couple of towers built on top of it with a doorway in the middle. Great job overall though. I am excited to see your style develop as you continue to add TOS to your builder's toolbox
