My entry into the Unrestricted category of the Seventh Global Challenge in the Lands of Roawia roleplay. Also, the continuation of Andared's journey.

It took Andared a great deal of time to navigate the streets of Stonewald and reach the main gate without being spotted. In broad daylight, and with an increased rotation of guards, practically the entire city was under constant watch. However, through patience, subtlety, and no small amount of luck, he arrived at the gate unseen. The only problem now was getting the gate open…
Andared studied the gate from behind a large stack of crates, trying to determine its mechanism. From what he could tell, the wooden gates seemed to operate on a system of levers and pulleys, which were controlled from inside the gatehouse. Andared grimaced at this realization. He would have to cut his way through at least half a dozen of the Queen’s soldiers before he could reach either lever, and more soldiers would undoubtedly arrive once the alarm was sounded. Still, the goal was achievable, and at this point he had no choice but to see it through.
At high noon, with the sun blazing over the landscape, the sound of horns resonated throughout the city of Stonewald. Andared struggled to fight his way up the stone steps, but eventually he reached the top of the wall. He cut down another of the Queen's guards, then turned to the gatehouse. Andared had barely taken a step when he felt cold steel bore through him...

"Attack!" Kyle shouted to his fellow Black Dragons once the first horn sounded.
With a glorious roar, several dozen Lenfels sprang out from hiding, charging the city. Kyle was at the front, sprinting toward the main gate. When he arrived, the gates still had not opened, something Kyle would have to chide Andared over once they had won, so Kyle took out a grappling rope and cast it around one of the stone parapets atop the wall. He quickly began his ascent, and when he reached the summit, he arrived just in time to see an outlaw soldier plunge a greatsword straight through the chest of Andared...

Andared made the faintest of cries as he collapsed to the floor, clutching his chest. He looked at his trembling hands only to see them soaked with his own blood. It was as if his entire body had grown cold. Everything around him seemed to be nothing but a hazy memory. Then he felt a man grab him and prop him up against the side of the cold stone wall.
"Andared? Andared!"
It was Kyle, but his voice seemed so distant. It was an immense struggle to just keep his eyes open. He could feel everything around him fading. If only he could just rest...
