Cool army.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who liked the new crownies. It seems odd that you have a master of hounds as a unit. Feels like he should have some ferocious wargs or possibly some polar bears. Eh, but I guess you gotta make it work with the dogs TLG produces.

The master of hounds isn't really a stand-alone battle unit, but rather I just wanted to make a trainer/handler for the army's dogs.

I like the different units and it's quite an impressive group. I remember almost exactly a year ago when I wrote this topic: merlins-beard.com/thread/1488/faction-sizeIt's a shame that they have color on the actual torsos so you can't swap out colors to make different factions. I don't own any of this theme, but I think it would have been cool if they had decided to go with this logo from the duplo line instead:

Are the peasant hoods the quivers and the bows the same shade of brown? I really like the concept and I'm trying to create a small unit of archers myself.

I believe that the cowls come in black, dark brown, and "old" brown, so no, they do not match. These cowls are dark brown and the quivers/bows are reddish brown

The quivers and bows can also come in black and old brown, by the way.

Oh, I know, but old brown is expensive and black doesn't fit my color scheme as well (and I have literally hundreds of bows/quivers in reddish brown, so I'm not going buy old brown ones!)

i like mixing old brown and reddish brown for peasants or in instances where i want figures to look alike, but to have a barely noticeable amount of variation, and it didn't seem too noticable to me in the pic

In fact, I never separate old grays from new grays or old browns from new browns. I have literally never found an instance where the difference in colors bothered me, and in fact in many cases I find the differences to provide some nice organic mottling to colors of stone walls, wooden floors, leathers, etc.

In this instance, it's more that I don't have enough old brown ones to effectively have a good variety. It would be 90% dark brown and a few old brown mixed in, and I think they'd just look out of place.

Yeah, it's never good when an intentional decision to mix and match ends up reading as a mistake just due to the ratios. Makes total sense.

I don't see any ostriches in that army. -.- It is more like a fast acting shock-troop. Nothing to show possible enemys during an army deployment
