Hey guys, finally got around to posting this, was held up for a while by that nasty thing known as Real Life.
Note: this story takes place before the siege of Maldrake’s Fortress, and explains why Mythrog is even there.

Resting by the fire
The crackling of the fire was the only sound in the mostly empty library, probably because it was well after midnight.
High General Mythrog sat down heavily in a chair in a secluded corner of the great library of Gullmireia, having just returned to the trollish capital from liberating yet another trollish fort of queen’s soldiers, and wanting some peace and quiet and time to be alone.
Much had happened since the skirmish at Dead Tree Pass where Mythrog had chased a queen’s ranger, only to lose him in the maze of slot canyons surrounding the pass, and Carnox, the captain of the elite Blood Legion, had retaken fort Dragon Skull, Mythrog’s original goal, without the High General’s help. That was weeks ago, and in that time Mythrog had retaken three more outposts and sieged two queen’s forts. It was after the last queen’s fort fell to Mythrog’s forces that word came of the allied armies plan to siege Maldrake’s Fortress from one of Mythrog’s spies. The High General had immediately returned to Gullmireia, only stopping once to retake a small troll outpost.
Mythrog’s thoughts returned to the imminent siege on Maldrake’s castle. Since Maldrake had poisoned queen Galainir (Mythrog had learned that form a traitor right after the ambush at Dead Tree Pass) She was probably no longer a dangerous playing card in the game, at least for now. However, Maldrake was more dangerous then most thought. Mythrog had seen his fortress, during a spying mission to the Magic Isles, and while small, it contained a large crystal of unknown magical properties. (Why Maldrake kept said crystal on the top of his fortress, where anyone could see it, was beyond Mythrog.)
Joining the allied army in sieging Maldrake’s castle would be a risky endeavor, however if Maldrake and his army fell Mythrog would only have the queen to worry about, if she recovered from the poison.
The sharp sound of iron clad boots approaching interrupted Mythrog’s thoughts.
Mythrog stood up slowly, stretching his sore limbs and turning to see who was approaching.
It was one of Mythrog’s army Generals. He walked up to Mythrog briskly, and saluted.
“High General Mythrog, we have received more information on the siege of Maldrake’s castle. Have you decided if you will be taking a part in it?”
“A legion of our finest troops will join the allied army.”
Mythrog picked up one of his battle axes. “And I shall lead them.”

On a side note, this photo, strangely enough, was Explored on Flickr. Go figure.
