I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in taking part in an interactive story/campaign? It would be primarily story based (rather than MOC based) with characters having to make decisions at certain points (similar to 'choose your own adventure' or 'fighting fantasy' books if you're aware of them).
The basic premise would be a group of adventurers on a quest and their interactions/battles with various obstacles.
Each person would be required to create a custom character (in lego) and assign them certain attributes (on a point based system). I'm trying to keep the system as simple as possible (I'm aware Eurobricks do a similar story/rpg but it's way more complicated than I can cope with).
Why? Well I enjoy creating figures and writing stories, but have less time to MOC and consequently a number of my stories end up on the cutting room floor.
I'm initially looking for 5 people to sign-up and create characters, with me creating the story for them to interact with. The first story will be a 'dry-run' as I'm sure there will be teething problems but I'm hoping it would last may 3-4 weeks with people required to interact maybe twice a week. If it works then there may be an option for other people to write/lead stories in the future.
Thoughts? Interest?

Great! I'm almost there with the stats system, so I'll post that once I'm done and see what you think. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible, which is sometimes easier said than done. I am a gamer (boardgames that is - eurogames if that means anything to you) and dabbled with making my Heroica games a bit more involved but we can view this as a trial run and iron out any bumps as we go along.
Perhaps we can keep any questions to this thread, then I'll start another 'Quest thread' when we're good to go.
I'm hoping to write it like a group of people sat round in a tavern telling legends of old...
The current 'classes' you have to choose from are borrowed from the Heroica games:
Wizard Barbarian Knight Ranger Thief
For this trial run it would be easiest if we had one of each... so perhaps choose one and I'll try post my stats system tomorrow after I've finalised it.
All the monsters/obstacles will be come from the lego world, and I'll be assigning them stats accordingly.

Aww, shucks. I was going to take ranger (in fact, I thought that I had commented that already, but forgot to post), but I can take the wizard spot. EDIT: Definitely am going to try to pull of a fig like this:

Great stuff! If your end up anything like the inspiration AK provided, I think we're onto a winner!
I've worked out my stats and battle system, but there's bound to be teething problems so just bear with me while we try and make it work.
What you to do:
1. Create your lego minifig that corresponds to your chosen class (Wizard, Barbarian, Knight, Ranger, Thief). This can be posted in this thread. Keep the name short and easy please, I don't want to have to type X'challu'thrandil the Mangllorian'thu Necromancer every time....
2. Assign them stats based on their chosen class (these need to be PM'd to me. Do NOT post them in the forum).
STATS:
Each hero has 50 points.
20 points MUST be used in your main character trait.
Wizard - Magic Barbarian - Strength Knight - Bravery Ranger - Skill Thief - Cunning Divide the remaining 30 points (in units of 5) between the four remaining characteristics. Maximum of 20 points per category, minimum of 0... -Magic (not the wizard) -Strength (not the Barbarian) -Bravery (not the Knight) -Skill (not the Ranger -Cunning (not the Thief) Eg Colin the Barbarian -Magic 5 -Strength 20 -Bravery 10 -Skill 10 -Cunning 5
Each character has 20 health points that are separate to their stats.
COMBAT: Each enemy or obstacle you encounter will require you to 'submit' points to combat certain traits. These will be submitted secretly via PM to the quest leader (in this case - me). Each class is able to submit 1 point from their main trait at no cost. Any points beyond this are deducted from your total as normal. Wizard - (+1) magic Barbarian - (+1) strength Knight - (+1) bravery Ranger - (+1) skill Thief - (+1) cunning
Example of a confrontation: You enter a room and encounter an ogre. It requires the following stats to be defeated: Strength 10 Bravery 6 Skill 4 After some 'in character's discussion' the adventurers submit their points to the quest leader via PM. Example: The Barbarian submits (via PM): Strength 3 (2 + his character's 1) Bravery 1 Skill 0
So the combat with the Ogre goes as follows: Strength - Barbarian gives 3 (2+1). The other adventurers all give 1 each (4 points). 3+4=7. This gives a deficit of 3. So a dice roll of 3 or more is needed to defeat the Ogre. Bravery - Knight gives 2 (1+1). Others give 1 apart from thief (3 points). 2+3= 5. Deficit of 1. Dice roll of 1 or more needed. Skill - Ranger gives (+1). Others give 1 (4). 1+4=5. No deficit. If dice scores are resolved. Then the beast/obstacle is defeated.
Eg Strength - a 1 is rolled. So there is still a deficit of 2. Bravery - a 3 is rolled. No further points needed. Should there be unresolved points remaining (eg the 2 strength points), the quest leader rolls a dice. This simulates the Ogre's attack. Adventurers are numbered 1-5. The Corresponding adventurer loses 2 health points. If a 6 is rolled, all adventurers lose the health points. The 2 strength points remain and need to be resolved by another submission. Eg the Barbarian submits 2 (1+1) or the knight and barbarian both submit 1. (I feel this should be done in forum, not by PM). Second example: You encounter a rope bridge crossing a deep pit.
Skill 13 Bravery 9 Cunning 8 Skill- Ranger gives 4 (3+1). Others give 1 (4). 4+4=8. Deficit of 5 points. 3 rolled. 2 points unresolved... Bravery - Knight gives 5 (4+1). Barbarian and ranger give 2 each, wizard gives 1 (5). 5+5=10. No deficit. Points are resolved. Cunning - Thief gives 2 (1+1). Others give 1 (4). 2+4=6. Deficit of 2 points. A 4 is rolled. Points are resolved. Bridge has 2 skill remaining...Adventurers numbered 1-5. One loses 2 health. And 2 skill points still need to be resolved. Eg "the bridge snaps under the weight of the adventurers. Sir Rupert the knight slams hard into the face of the pit (-2 health) his fingers barely holding onto the broken remains of the crossing. The weight of his armour begins to pull him down, rocks clatter into the abyss as he struggles for a better grip... (2 skill needed to save Rupert from the pit - he can either save himself or others can help). As well as enemies and obstacles there might be chests (with rewards), locked doors and other ways of replenishing your strength.
Hopefully that's clear as mud...
I've written up an excel spreadsheet that should help me keep track of the points submitted and resolutions.

Looks good, and I mean it! (Anybody want a peanut?) Couple of questions: for every enemy your minifigs slay, will you replenish some of your strength? And does the game end when a certain number or all of the minifigs die?

And does the game end when a certain number or all of the minifigs die? Good point! I forgot to mention that... I've mapped out a 'dungeon' with a final prize... So the ultimate aim would be to get to the end and defeat the 'big bad'. The game will end when the heroes (or remaining heroes) reach the prize or all end up dead. I've hopefully balanced the heroes stats with the enemies they'll come across so there should be chance of winning. I guess we'll see as we go along if I've made it too hard or too easy... I thought about adding points when you defeat an enemy but it was getting too complicated, so again we can see if that is something that needs to be addressed after this run.

But you use up points to tackle obstacles, no? So once you went through enough, wouldn't you not have enough to do anything?

But you use up points to tackle obstacles, no? So once you went through enough, wouldn't you not have enough to do anything? Exactly.... So you need to make sure you don't use too many. Each hero has 50 points to spread out between their skills. So between the 5 heroes that's 250 points. I've slightly more than that over the enemies so it'll come down to how people choose to submit their points, and how the dice rolling goes... Do you think that will work?
