Despite its remote location in the far north, Ofdor has faced determined attacks in days of old. However, the city has resisted every attack since the first erection of its mighty fortifications. The walls are wood pilings, set around a thick core of crushed and compacted stone. Outside, a moat encircles the city, broken only at the gates. The putlogs set into the top of the wall and jutting outwards serve as mounting points for hoardings, temporary scaffoldings that improve the defenders’ field of fire. The stone layer measures over 5 feet thick, running through the entire wall. Although lightly guarded in peacetime, the gates are always manned by members of the city guard. They quickly stop any intruders from entering the city. “Hands up!” Two of the city guard stand watch outside the gate. I'm trying to determine my level of commitment to LOR, so I thought I'd post a recent MOC to see how much feedback I get. Larger sizes of all these images are available on Flickr. Thanks for viewing!

Great build. I like the incorporation of the Norse shields and minfigs, as those are very Garheim. Technique-wise, I like what you've done with the ice and drifted snow. In particular, I like that in the front of the scene, the level of the white tiles and the trans blue tiles is the same, suggesting that right there we see only a paper-thin dusting of snow over the ice. (Most people would have been tempted to stack the white tile up another plate's height, which would give an abrupt edge that doesn't suggest to me the way that snow really drifts over ice.) As for personnel, I'd stick a couple of archers up there. The guys with ranseurs are all well and good, but if someone starts misbehaving in front of my gate, I'd rather shoot him full of arrows than have to open up, go out there, and stick him with the spear tip.

This is nice! The inclusion if the shields makes it for me.

Thanks! When I was building, I actually didn't think about the different levels in the snow, but I'm glad the effect worked well. Those were my only two dk blue medieval torsos- can't have the city guard be out of uniform!

I really like this build. I haven't seen very many Garheim snowy MOCs for a while and this one looks great. The wooden gates fit perfectly with the snowy northern feel, as do the Viking shields. Keep it up! Happy Building, Sir Valiant~
