Going In
Vignette entry
A small force led by Haydar Khaldoon is sneaking past the wall of the outer fortifications of the Queen’s castle, which are protecting the town on the side of the main castle. The defenses have a weak spot which is the sewers. Usually completely filled with rapidly flowing water and therefore regarded as an impossible way in, a recent drought has reduced the flow more than the defenders have expected.
Getting in this way is a messy business however, since it means wading waist-deep in the refuse of the city…
Opening the Gates
Unrestricted entry
Haydar Khaldoon and his men have gotten past the walls through the sewers (hence the brown legs…) and are now making a rapid move to secure one of the smaller gates. Outside, a larger force of Loreesi infantry has sneaked up to the wall under the cover of darkness and are waiting for the gate to open soon, hopefully before the guards on the wall has discovered them...
Recovering
Restricted entry
Haydar was injured in the battle after opening the gates to the town outside the Royal Castle. Opening the gates was easy enough, but the ensuing battle when the Queen’s reinforcements arrived was a bloody affair where many of Haydar’s men lost their lives. During this battle, Haydar was injured and before the battle was decided he was evacuated along with many other wounded soldiers with a transport ship returning to the mainland. The monastic order commonly known as the black brothers has a long tradition of treating the sick and injured. At their convents, many of the wounded soldiers from the battles in Roawia are treated. Haydar has had an arrow removed from his leg and is also still dizzy from a strong blow he suffered to his head. He rests and awaits news to hear if the assault on the castle was successful...
This build also serves to show that my character was injured in the fighting.
