Rumors at the Table

Mark followed his parents into a small dining hall after brief conversation and welcomings from those he knew as he passed by. As they were seated waiting for the food to be brought to them they talked of what had happened,
“The Queen’s troops didn’t bother us up here too much. We held ‘em off long enough for reinforcements to arrive and then those cowards fled like sheep before a wolf! Ha! We’ve been restocking the armory ever sense.”
Conversation drifted here and there throughout the meal. After they had finished eating and dishes had been cleared a soldier walked hurriedly in. Eudes, Mark’s father stood to meet him. Mark stood also and walked a step closer to Hildegard.
“Deeply sorry to inter’upt sir but there is a Garhim here to see Mark.” All eyes turned to look at Mark.
Mark said, “Take me to him, then.”
Mark followed Hildegard into the hallway and walked down a few passages to another room. To his surprise, the Garhim who wanted to see him was Lumen.
“Hello Lumen, what brings you to Siloam castle after me?”
“Greetings Mark. Well the reason I came is because of a disturbance in the South. Lenfald is considering seceding and also an outlaw named Kreslin has threatened a few people to find out where you are.”
“Lenfald seceding? Why would they do that? I… I must go south.”
“No, you won’t head south. You’ll head north.” Mark’s mother said to him as she and Mark’s father walked in on the conversation, “You need to rest Mark.”
Mark realized the sense in that and smiled. “Alright, I’ll head north for a rest. I can stay at Makhluf’s and tell the folks there of the news. Care to join me Lumen?”
“Of course I would like a rest!” Lumen smiled.
Mark’s father joined the conversation, “Hildegard, I would like you to head south and see what you can do about this Kreslin. Do you know about him, Mark?”
“Yes I do; he came to me when I was wounded but left me alone.” Mark said.
“Then Mark, I gues’ you’ll leave in the morning?” Eudes asked.
“Yes, but I’ll be sure to stop here again on my way back. Let’s forget about that for now though.”
