Yeah Im confused on the whole border overlap deal... So I have a 16x16 baseplate on which I have a 1-stud wide border making the "actual build" 15x15. BUT to fit what I want in it and to look good, I have some stuff that goes onto the border but nothing hangs over the edge of the 16x16 baseplate. Is this okay? I mean everything is contained within the 16x16 limit so I hope that doesnt disqualify my build. I hope to post it soon so hopefully that'll clear up some border overlap questions.
Thanks!

Maybe we will allow some flexibility this time since there's obviously some confusion on what was expected.
In the future, I believe the intent is that the total footprint should fit within a 16x16 template, including border, with minimal to no overhang allowed. Gary said irregular builds would be OK, but I really would like to see people limited to fitting within the 16x16 shape, as I think that's part of the challenge with that size entry, and also makes it easier to compare entries head-to-head. We'll discuss further in the KC, but I'm open to feedback on that opinion.

Thanks for the clarification AK, I assume my entry is fine in that case. I personally think it should stick to the 16x16 foot print and not be irregular- at least strictly for this category since it is the more challenging entry with fitting a lot of stuff into such a small area. And it's more fun to compare your own to others when the sizing is the same. But that's just my $0.02 What is meant by border overlap though? So to further clarify, is it just the ruling that as long as everything is within the 16x16 footprint the entry is fair game?

I believe what he calls "Border overlap" is intended to be what is more commonly referred to as "overhang".

Grrrrrrr! I didn't want to open up a Can o' Chaos here but apparently I did. The 16x16 can be irregular but better well add up to 256 studs total. As with the vignette, no border overlap allowed. What do you mean by border overlap? The rules said very minimal overhang allowed and in the past that included borders. I hope that doesn't mean my build is disqualified Ronin, you can keep that border...because I say so But the KC does have to discuss the intent of the sizing for clarity....unfortunately. We are so busy discussing LoR 2.0 right now, but we'll get a decision out soon. AK_Brickster take a note will you? We need to add the "banging head against the wall" emoticon to the list.....

Btw, how will the winners be chosen, the same as always, or do the different "challenges" have different winners? How does that work?

Btw, how will the winners be chosen, the same as always, or do the different "challenges" have different winners? How does that work? Same as always. The categories are there to remove any doubt as to the intent of the build with regards to Uncertainty in the Realm. And yes the irony of that statement was intentional.

Unrestricted entry (96x73) - Revenge - Settling scores"Whilst you were rekindling old friendships in the North, we were out here with the fleet, stopping the Queen's reinforcements from making landfall and your life a little but harder." Goodall paused to inspect the spearhead he had been sharpening and grinned with satisfaction. "And whilst we were at it, guess what we found?" Sithric grunted and took the whetstone from Goodall. "Mermaids?" Goodall fixed him with an unamused stare. "Worse. Loressi 'traders', out to take advantage of some of our patrol vessels. We followed one to its lair but were ordered not to engage. Well, things are different now..." Sea spray slashed across the deck as the Perth tacked heavily to port, speeding in on the incoming tide with her sails taken in. The timing was perfect. Distracted by their plunder, the raiders didn't even notice the carrack until she rounded the point. Sithric loosed his arrow, pinning an enemy crewman to his ship just as Goodall leapt from the gunwale. A tongue of fire leapt out from the galley's prow, narrowly missing the Perth's stern before that crewman suffered the same fate as the first. The rest of the raiders were doomed. Lenfald would have its revenge. Thanks for viewing!

- Preparation - "Pirates"-" Thomas stood under the mid afternoon sun in the massive northern jungle that covered most of Torith's Northern shore. The pirates were late, but then again that was to be expected. Soon he would have to leave or risk a stroke but when all seemed lost a small band of armed men approached him. Trying not to look upset Thomas smiled and approached the group of men. "I'm glad you could make it" Thomas announced as he reached out to shake the lead pirates hand. "Aye, the captain sends is regards, an he's appy ter do bizzness wid ya again." The Pirate replied, completely ignoring Thomas's hand. "Good, you will be paid a wealthy amount for your assistance in the protection of Loressi waters." "As long ya provide us wid plenty of vittles and weppins we'll be appy to werk wid ya." The Pirate handed Thomas a parched piece of paper and stepped back patiently waiting for an answer. Thomas glanced at the paper where a list had been written in black ink, once again Thomas was the errand boy...." ------------------------------------------ My Bignette entry. Good luck guys!

Lands of Roawia: Reporting to the Duke ( Preperation)Lands of Roawia: Reporting to the Duke by lego3364!, on Flickr The setting sun lit the gold-work upon the Great Hall a flame with light, sending golden light across the market square. As Eolhelm, Eurisia, and Aealias hurried through the square towards the Great Hall, vendors were taking down their stalls and goods for the night. As they climbed the great staircase that led to the hall, a burst of falcons flew out of the hall and into the sky. "Aye," Aealias whispered, "The Falcons of Bladefall have left. Something must be amiss." They reached the hall's terrace where two guards stood. The guards stepped out in front of them. "Who are you? And what business do you have with the Duke of Bladefall at this hour?" "I am Eolhelm Arngoth, And these are companions. Eurisia, Daughter of Lord Ecthelon, and Aealias, Cousin of Lady Macrae. We have been out on a task given to us by Duke Stanton, and we wish to report to him on our findings." The guard stepped back, "The Duke is waiting for you," he opened the door to the hall. "If you would please follow me." The guard led them through the Great Hall of Bladefall. He passed into a hallway, and stopped at a door on the left. "Here you go, the Duke is waiting for you in here." He bowed and walked back down the hall to his post. They turned back to door, and Eurisia was about to knock when the door opened. A dark haired man greeted them. "Hello, The Duke is waiting for you. If you would please give me your weapons." Eolhelm and Aealias pulled their swords from their sheathes and handed them to the dark haired man, Eurisia unsheathed her knives, but handed them over a bit more reluctantly. The Advisor opened the door and led them into the fire lit room. Duke Stanton turned from the fire and greeted them warmly. "Greetings! I assume your task is completed? " "Yes Duke," Eolhelm spoke, "The outlaw band has been caught and sent back to their holes in the south." "Very good," The Duke gestured to the sword stand by the wall. "Aye, if I had not been the Duke of this fair city I'd be out there myself hunting those swine." He picked the sword of the stand and held it aloft, a glow of affection in his eyes. He sighed and placed the sword on the stand. "But on to more important matters." He cleared his throat. "The High Council has appointed me to be in charge of rebuilding our northern defenses. Knowing your skill with Masonry, Arngoth, I was wondering if you would like to be put in charge of rebuilding the stronghold Pargath two days east of this very hall. It was ransacked by the Queen's forces before they left for Garheim so the wall is in complete ruins." Eolhelm's face was deep with consideration. After what seemed like a long while he spoke up. "Duke Stanton, I would be honored to help rebuild glorious Lenfald." "Very Well, and if they wish your companions may go with you. You will set out the day after next." At this Eurisia spoke up, "Duke Stanton, I will not be able to help rebuild Pargath." Eolhelm and Aealias turned to her surprised. "I wish to head into Garheim. We have all heard what the Jarl thinks of us, but I'd like to see what the people think of Chartes. I have an old friend in Garheim from during the Loreos-Lenfald war. His name is Marek Luinmor." She turned to Duke Stanton. "If your stores have any wear Garhim like I'd be mighty appreciative." "We do," The Duke replied, "Report to the East Wing of the Armory tomorrow." Eurisia nodded, " I thank you my lord." "Report back to me when you have completed your tasks," He said to the group. And motioned for them to be lead to their rooms. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Well this is my restricted entry for The Lands of Roawia RPG on Merlin's Beard Forum,
