This thread will contain the builds detailing the storyline of the exile of Marius and his people. (otherwise known as I need an excuse for my character doing absolutely nothing in world affairs for what, almost a year now?) Returning to Shieldbury by theboywarrior, on Flickr Marius led his people through the gates. This was the site of his most profound defeat. His greatest military shame. The bones of the dead littered the ground. From the look of the corpses, the Queen's army hadn't even stayed long enough to bury their own dead. The surprise attack was a result of Shieldbury aggression towards the Queen's regime. They had repelled all occupying forces, and, against the counsel of their allies, declared themselves openly hostile. Subtleties of politics would protect them, they thought. But they were wrong. The Queen's forces attacked as Marius' troops were rallying for the secret invasion of the Capital, which was to take place in a few days. Therefore the bloodbath was not limited to the forces of Shieldbury. But as it was, the element of surprise and the power of numbers forced the victory in favor of the Queen. (full text on Flickr)

Part One of the flashbacks guys! War Reaches Shieldbury by theboywarrior, on Flickr Shieldbury was under siege, but it was nothing they could not handle. The Shieldkeepers were defiant even in the face of death. Life continued almost normally, the exception being occasional failed assaults on the walls and messengers constantly riding out through enemy lines. So Marius and his wife Jayne were preparing for bed. He was glad to have escaped the Queen's dungeons, and was looking forward to his new married life. Until a scout returned home. "They are not coming to take us and Shieldbury. They are coming to destroy us." Full text on Flickr!
