All, With the latest story update, the King's Council is preparing to launch what we are internally referring to as "Lands of Roawia 2.0". Before we finalize exactly what this will look like, we want to get input from the most important person in LoR.... YOU! Without YOU, LoR is nothing, so please take a moment to give us some feedback using the survey link below, and feel free to start open discussion in this thread about what you would like to see from LoR 2.0 in the future. Survey Link: kwiksurveys.com/s.asp?sid=3q36kyqkpvc0u85496310Please comment once you've taken the survey and you'll be entered into a prize drawing as a "thank you" for sharing your opinions Also, please start thinking of places where you can advertise LoR in the coming months to help with our upcoming membership drive. We need to draw more people to the game, so where and how do you think we can do that? Thanks to everyone for your participation! We want to make Lands of Roawia into the best MOC-based medieval RPG on the web, and we need your help to make that happen. - King's Council

Completed the survey. I'm pretty happy with the way everything is going right now, and I am enjoying the recent storyline developments. The one thing I would like is to see people's characters have chances to get involved in the story and impact the way things turn out. I've recently joined Mocpages, so I could start posting my builds over there as well and linking back to here.

Having only just come back I couldn't comment on a couple things and the opinions I do have I don't count for much. My survey answers to our faction lead characters are confusing and contradictory but only because that is how I feel about them right now. You guys have, I think intentionally, made who they are at the moment a little mysterious and in a few cases seemingly contradictory to what I imagine as their natural dispositions. In my opinion you guys can write something great for us with old or new faction leaders. The topic from other thread about players contributing to the shaping of faction maps is fun but problematic. The guys over at Eurobricks have done it fairly well but someone has to keep up with it and it also makes it a little more complicated for new people coming in. I personally care far more about the quality of the story and would like the people who work to shape this world for us to have some time to build. If there's room for that to happen and still add hip new features, it's one worth considering.
On Recruiting: I just joined my local LUG and will try to proselytize at our next meeting . If someone wants to make a flyer thingy, I have a local Lego reseller (if you remember baseball card shops existing, it's kinda like that but better) that I am sure would be glad to let us advertise. Then in a couple of months the local mall is going to have a big Lego day.

Hmm, intriguing. Took the survey. When do you think we'll get to see this big new update deal?

the most important person in LoR.... YOU! Without YOU, LoR is nothing, Right there, that's for sure ! I'm about to take the survey, and I may post another comment with more suggestions in a while, though really, it's mostly fine the way it is .

Took the survey, and here are my answers to some of the questions where I marked "other" as one of my choices:
Question 3 "Why do you build for the Lands of Roawia?"
I build for LoR because it helps me to channel my creative side, as well as my inner storyteller. It provides me with a great community of builders whom I can both compete with and also learn from, and it's just a lot of fun!
Question 4 "What do you think of the current global story?"
I think the current story is fascinating and intriguing. It's very engaging.
However, I also think that it leaves out players as individuals too much. We have very little influence on what actually happens in the storyline. Give us more to "play for" as it were. That can be achieved in multiple ways, such as making the stories of the winning enties official LoR "canon", or by letting the winning faction vote on where they would like things to go next. It doesn't have to be that extreme, but give us a little more to work for.
Question 5 "What are your opinions of the Kings Council Members?"
I think that all of you are great individuals who are working hard to provide a solid format under which we can play. I think, however, that your system is flawed. My chief concern is the writer. The King's council should elect a single writer to write all of the global updates and storylines (this could be an annually elected position, similar to what the KC will hopefully become). Let's call him the "King's Scribe". This Scribe should be elected only by the votes of the KC members, and not regular members, for greater simplicity. The Scribe will obviously be aware of the situation in the global storyline, and he will write it, but he should not have any say on any decisions made by the KC. His/her only job is to write the stories once the general plot has been decided upon. He could give input and suggestions here, of course, but the Scribe should not have any real power or decision making.
I propose that the requirements for the King's Scribe be this:
1. The player must have be relatively (meaning that they have not necessarily built MOCs actively, but they have at least watched the forums and kept up with things, and made posts on a reasonably regular basis) active in LoR for at least 6 months and have a personal score of at least 50 (this is so we have experienced players in the position).
2. If elected, the player will fall under the jurisdiction of the KC. All of the updates that he/she writes will be screened by the KC before becoming official, and they have no authority in the game world. Aside from writing the updates, they are no different from any other regular member.
3. The player must be of good reputation amongst his fellow LoR roleplayers, and he cannot show an abnormal amount of partiality for or against any given faction. Some inherent bias is to be expected, but nothing that substantially or significantly alters their ability to perform their duties for the good of each individual faction.
Question 6 "What direction would you like to see the story go?"
Part of me wants peace, but it can't be denied that war is fun as well. Perhaps war, but on a much smaller scale? Let's not have all out assaults and attacks on each other just yet. How about just animosity between factions, and a significant lack of goodwill?
Also, can we maybe have Garheim get a bigger personality? They're always neutral, and it's becoming a bit monotonous. I guess that's up to the faction members to decide though.

I guess that's up to the faction members to decide though. I agree with Andared that it would be good to see a little more cause and effect in how individuals or factions perform in a challenge and the direction the story takes. It might help participation just a tad too if the stakes are high. I would build like mad to keep a foreign force out of Garheim or to claim a new land. As far as the personality of Garheim, I quite like her neutral nature. I don't think it would be quite so pronounced if the other two leaders were not at each others' throats all the time. I am beginning to wonder if the best thing that I could do for Roawia would be to marry that lovely princess before Chartres can... War, peace, or exploration... I am all for exploration alongside either war or peace. I think it might be fun to stand alongside the outlaws against a common enemy or race every other faction to establish dominion over a new island/continent or even help the outlaws fight for recognition as a bonafide kingdom of Roawia. Whatever it ends up being, you guys will make the next chapter engaging and the community will make it fun. Now everybody else chime in so we can get the ball rolling!

I definitely agree that I would like to see more "Factions and players performance has an effect on storyline" rather than "storyline is prefab and outcome of GCs and such has little to no effect on it"

Why do you build for Lands of Rowaia? The Community, it's great. I've met many great people on here. I also love the building. I've gotten better. (I think ) And being a part of this has pushed me to become a better builder. What do you think of the current global story? It's great, Triphian was miss represented earlier, but the latest chapter was better for his character. I think the length is fine. I would like to see a King's Scribe as Andared called it. What are your opinions of the King's Council members? They're good. I think we should try to keep the same people for the KC, So they can use their former experience to keep improving the game. What direction would you like to see Lands of Roawia go? I will have war!
