So I want to build... I got the bricks.. I have the space.... and I just dont have the time!!!!!! At least I have time for working on my troops - thankfully that is taking a lot less time....
How do y'all deal with that? I look at my bricks and get depressed....

Honestly I get depressed too lol. I have a lot of bricks, and a lot of ideas but no motivation to put them together (due to a lack of time). Then again, if I weren't aimlessly browsing all my lego forums, I would have way more time to build.
I think this is why I build figs so much. A lot quicker. Then again, when I usually start building figs, I lose track of time and spend an hour or two customizing them.

I have the opposite problem or something in that direction anyway. I'm job hunting right now. An interview or two and then the rest of the day is mine to use as I will. I have bricks, I just bit off more than I could chew with my current project and I am torn between scaling it back just to finish and free up the bricks or building little halfhearted things until I have more to see it through. I need to learn to be less ambitious in scale. When I left the hobby last year, it was for lack of time. I thought I was going to relocate, then I got a promotion that was a very mixed blessing and ultimately more demanding than I was ok with. At the same time several other things were going on in my personal life that demanded a lot of attention. I dealt with it by almost selling all of my legos. I would have too if the post office where I live now was ever open when I was off of work. I still feel terrible about having left people, friends, hanging when I went dark on flickr and the forums and forgot about my bricks hiding under my bed but I am so glad I didn't sell them. Being on the other side of that mess, it has been wonderful to pull everything out again. It is so good to be back in the community and I love what you guys have made I'm glad you are still able to work on your troops (and squeeze in the occasional trade ) but I hope you can find a way to make more time for yourself; if not this week or this month then soon. Busyness is the pits.

I'm browsing forums when I'm unable to build why y'all are a blast to trade with and chat with I would trade the time spent on forums for building time in a split second On a different note - the minifig Jamba had me explore a different side of me - I have started to build with orc figs and parts so maybe this lack of time is not that bad after all as I get to explore nwe areas

str0ngbad - glad that you didn't sell off all of your bricks.... it is always hard to rebuild your collection after you get rid of it... even though that means I probably missed out on whole bunch of stuff at a good price Regarding job - hang in there. Stuff like that has a way of working out in the most unusual ways. Btw what industry are you in? Maybe some on here might have a lead on something that you could benefit from?

Stuff like that has a way of working out in the most unusual ways. Btw what industry are you in? Maybe some on here might have a lead on something that you could benefit from? Bah, my experience is varied and difficult to market so I rather doubt it. My most recent experience was as a Logistics manager for a small company. Before that I was an English/music teacher in S. Korea, a musician for a church, and then a dispatch coordinator for Chinese students at a flight school. I have an interview coming up with FedEx for a job that I am surprisingly well qualified for but we'll see. I'm not really worried. Even if I end up making a lot less I'll be glad I left. The work itself was fun for me so I'm really hoping to give it another go with a more stable company. I sincerely appreciate you asking and if you hear about someone looking for a quick learner that can't choose a career path, let me know. Regarding your circumstance, I forget that you seem to travel a lot. Is that why you have time for the forums but not for building?

I have the time, I want to build, I sort of have the bricks. It's my room that's slowing me down somewhat. I just can't get it sorted! It's an overwhelming mess! And since I've used all my good bricks recently.... They need to be sorted. And I just don't have the motivation. I'd rather browse forums, Flickr, and Lego related websites, than sort. Then there's the money. I need to buy more bins, but I want another lamp or two. But I also really want more bricks! And living on a very small TFoL income. It can take awhile. Gah!

Ludzik, it isnt that there is a lack of time time is fineite there is never more, or less of it. It is just how we choose to spend said time. You have a couple babys to deal with as well as job and family, trust me I know all to well putting things on the burner due to babys and personal stuff All you can do is what we all do... Look at our collection, get depressed, and go talk to others in the same boat on the forums i am in the same spot as you and schmidt. On a side note, Strongbad Good to see you back. I am sorry that the deal fell through and hope to do some tradeing with you again hang in there on the job front you never know what will happen.

You guys are all weird . No time? Really, I know I'm a TFoL on vacation but the only thing that takes up time I'd like to spend on LEGO for now is... building LEGO . I mean, I have so many things I want to build, but I can only build one at a time due to my minimal bricks and space. Also lack of motivation!? It's so much fun though! And there is so much motivation out there, tons of contests! On another note the only time I get depressed is when one of my builds is turning out horrible and I just don't know how to fix it, but even then I simply don't build for a short while (a day or a couple hours) and then fix it and continue. Also sorting is rarely nececary for me. Firstly, I only got so many bricks and no unexplored bins, and I'm somewhat disorganized in a general way, though I would like more bins (and more space is always a good thing, right ?). Perhaps I do spend some time aimlessly looking through these forums though .

Work travel is when I have most slack time in the evenings.... but I'm not going to travel with my bricks and MOC's..... when I'm at home there is always something to do Even when I'm browsing the forums at home I'm doing something else... (mostly chasing after a hyperactive 14 month old....)

"You guys don't have any time? That's weird because I'm a teenager on vacation with no responsibilities and I have LOTS of time. You guys must be doing something wrong. No motivation? I mean, I have tons of energy because I get 9 hours of sleep every night, so I have no problem being motivated. Just because you adults get 4-6 hours of sleep, put in a 10 hour day at work, then come home and make dinner, walk the dog and put the kids to bed doesn't mean you shouldn't have motivation to build! It's so fun, how can you help it???"
Soooo.... yeah, that's pretty much how that comes across, josdu. A little rude and a lot naive, haha.

I never used to understand how people couldn't find time to build LEGO, but now I certainly do...since I started high school/college I've had a constant string of assignments and exams, so I've hardly built in the last couple of months. I'm not moaning, BTW, just stating fact. Time saving is a tough one...I've had to stop browsing forums like this one to find the time to actually build. My 1.5 hour bus journeys twice a day don't help. Holidays are so nice when they come!
