As I began to realise that my 'hobby' time is likely to reduce over the next year, and that my inspiration and builds for LoR have been few and far between over the last year I started to think what my plans would be for 2015 (a calendar of LoR LCs and GCs would help with this... just saying)... You may have things you want to build, ideas you want to try, sets you're looking forward to/saving up for or other lego related stuff. Here are mine, feel free to share yours. 1. Bring my LoR character to a place where he can easily dip in and out of LCs/GCs (where time allows). I had been trying to write my own story but kept drawing a blank and it made it tricky to interact with the LoR as a whole. 2. Build another 'wizardy' build. My last one was one of my most enjoyable MOCs ( www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/13263797423/) and got quite a positive response, and since Lord Mercat generously gave me a rare red hat ( www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/13943183830/) a new MOC just needs to be built! I've had a number of ideas... it's just finding the time. 3. Tidy my lego space/office. I made a start last year by trying to organise my minifig parts ( www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/15617762289/) but still have a little way to go. A lot of time MOCing is wasted looking for that right piece that I just know is in one of these boxes... 4. Reduce my LEGO collection... I know this sounds drastic, but I have far move than I need, or can use and it's taking up too much space (which links into the tidying part). Anyway stay tuned for a bit of a sale/clear out in the next few months. Half the hassle is sorting it to sell/trade. 5. Spend less on Bricklink. I'm always amazed how I can go on Bricklink for a few specific pieces and end up sinking £20. I'd never go into a shop and spend that amount on a whim, but when it's online it doesn't feel like you're ACTUALLY spending it... (and I quite fancy saving up for the new modular building...) 6. Break the CMF habit. I told myself series 10 was my last, then series 11... I ended up buying a couple of The Simpsons figs 'just to see'... then got a few of the TLM figs because I'd enjoyed the movie... managed to wean myself onto just getting my 'favourites' in series 12 and now feel sucked into series 13. To be honest £2.50 is TOO MUCH for a single mass prodiuced and cheap quality fig. 7. Finish my 'Who will save HawkOwl?' storyline ( www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/15473559681/) for the League of Lego Heroes group. My contest was won by our very own Brick_Ninja! and I'm looking forward to including his winning character 'HammerHand' ( www.flickr.com/photos/110008680@N03/15839094026/) in my storyline. And also the current build has used up all my brick profile bricks so will be nice to get them back... 8. Attend 'STEAM', a lego convention/exhibition in England. I had hoped to go the last two years but other commitments came up. I enjoyed reading a bit of the write up in BLOCKS magazine however (a fairly new British based AFOL magazine). Think that's it for me.... How about you?

Good thread idea. My plans would be: -1. Flesh out and continue to grow SfK. As a co-founder and FO for the new game, I want to increase participation and make the game larger, to fill a hole of an active LoR-style Sci-fi RPG. If you're interested, check it out at galactic-bricks.boards.net. -2. Keep building for LoR actively. I have my storyline planned way out for months ahead, and I hope y'all will find it really interesting. I also hope to finish another guild and hopefully start a third. -3. Improve my building skill. I look back at how far I've come since I first started in December '13, and am pretty impressed with myself. I hope to be able to look back to now at the end of this year and be satisfied with how much I've improved. -4. Broaden my building horizons. I want to be equally adept at building in many themes, not just castle. This year I'll continue castle building with LoR, but also try some more sci-fi, more mecha, and hopefully even a bit of work for LoLH. -5. Finally, get a summer job this summer so I can get some of those shnazzy new sets!

Good stuff, guys. My build time is going to be probably about the same as last year, which isn't much. However, here a my lofty goals for 2015: - Finally build a GBC module for BrickCon - Contribute to the castle collab at BrickCon - Start working on at least one of the two "big projects" that I've been wanting to do for a couple of years now. These will almost certainly be projects that will span multiple years, as I know I need more parts and space for them. - Fully arm, outfit, and otherwise prep my Garheim army for display at BrickCon - Grow the active membership of Lands of Roawia and Merlin's Beard I think that's the main stuff. Hopefully next Dec 31st, I'll actually have multiple MOCs to post as part of a "My LEGO Year in 2015" collage. This year, I think I only had one or two builds, and the rest were figbarfs -

1. Continue to help out the guys at SfK, and hopefully develop my character a bit more 2. Expand my collection and hopefully my sorting area. 3. Start building for LoR and LoM again 4. Sort the 4 or 5 pounds of unsorted lego sitting in a bin under my bed 5. Hone my sci-fi skills 6. Finish some projects I have been planning for years 7. Build for SHIPtember 8. Host a contest 9. Host some sort of jambalaya 10. Connect with my local lug Those are really my main lego related goals for 2015, I few more ambitious goals, but they may not happen.

1. Since my family and me moved into our new home my first priority is to establish my LEGO workplace: a. furniture will be delivered this or next week. Or the week after... 2. locate all the boxes containing Lego c. unpack them d. sort the bricks and put them into their designated drawer 2. Continue Wolfgang's storyline: I have a solid roadmap for a handful of Guild MOCs. The problem is that with little building time it is quite frustrating that there is always an LoR Global or Local Contest that begins before I could finish my current guild build --> I tend to submit them as GC/LC entry, alter the story, figure out something different for the guild, plan it, start to build it and there comes another GC/LC... It is a vicious circle... 3. I have to learn how not to get too emotionally attached to my MOCs. In order to spend less and maybe build even more bigger MOCs I need to learn to let them go and disassemble them. I still have most of my bigger MOCs but I made the first step last december and tore down Bothemor Keep. There was a bit of separation anxiety but I am OK now. 4. Try out some other themes. 5. Get in touch with the LUG in my area (if there is any, still need to find out). That's it for now. Cheers Adam

Good idea for a thread! Here are my goals:
-Keep up building (at least) two LoR MOCs a month, even with the lessening amount of free time I have due to college. -Buy the Lonely Mountain set. Desperately want that Smaug! -Grow my whole collection even more -Keep on top of sorting - re-sort loose bricks every couple of weeks and get some more storage boxes -Develop Erathor as a character and make his story more interesting overall -Try out some new themes and build more in others I enjoy, especially sci-fi -Attempt to create some sort of LEGO wargame, something I'd personally love to do -Slightly unrelated to LEGO, but try to get more of a clear story plan for the fantasy book I am working on

1. Continue to build (no pun intended) my collection. 2. Visit a LEGO store for the first time. 3. Attend Brickworld Chicago. 4. Win the two contest I'm currently competing in. 5. Be more active in Lands of Roawia. 6. Collect the remaining Dwarves from The Hobbit and the remaining Fellowship from Lord of the Rings. 7. Sort the other half of my collection. 8. Take part in a draft and/or some sort of jambalaya.

As we enter the final month of 2015 I thought it was worth resurrecting this thread to see how we've all done. Looking through my plans, it seems I'll be copying and pasting most of them for 2016... 1. Bring my LoR character to a place where he can easily dip in and out of LCs/GCs (where time allows). I had been trying to write my own story but kept drawing a blank and it made it tricky to interact with the LoR as a whole. No joy here... though I have had an idea and may see if I can complete it in the next 4 weeks... Still plan on doing this... just probably not in 2016. I now have two sets of drawers on my desk. Mostly made up of 'dumped' parts (unsorted), but it's a start. Still working on this. Consolidating all my loose bricks has been the start of this, and getting some decent display shelves for thos sets I want out, rather than in storage boxes. 6 months clean. Wasn't that interested in series 14 Monsters, so feel that broke tha habit... That said, series 15 sounds interesting. Can't quite believe I still have this partially deconstructed MOC on my shelf for well over a year.... How time flies. Going to set this that as a target for the next 4 weeks as well. Maybe next year.... Seems like I didn't achieve my targets, but on the other hand I ran two successful competitions for the League of Lego Heroes Flickr group, ran the Tales of Merlin's Beard interactive story (to varying degrees of success), participated in a couple of jambalayas and FINALLY got round to framing up some of my themed figs www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/22255763265/in/dateposted/ so there's aways next year

Pretty much given up on 1. Jaykob may be eternally stuck on that mountain... 2. Still in the back of my mind... but no significant progress (I actually slid into a more Star Wars vibe this year... but we'll see what 2017 holds) 3. Bit more sorting, but some major upheaval ahead, so I've got a feeling a lot more sorting will be required in the future 4. Meh 5. Haven't kept track of my bricklink habits, a few lapses here and there but no monthly expenditure. The trick is to not go on the site 6. Think I've pretty much broken the habit now. Having not completed the last few series, it makes the desire to complete any future series futile. 7. My Super Hero stuff has also tailed off this year, though enjoyed putting together a 'Advent Calendar' Contest that has a few days left to reveal www.flickr.com/photos/andhe/albums/721576732950894548. Maybe next year... Here's to 2017. May all your presents have that distinct danish rattle...

I didn't really have plans for 2016 as I'm normally a lot busier through the summer months and didn't build much. As far as 2017 goes, I'm going to try to make time to at least build for Garheim's new Weekly Challenges and hopefully build more regularly in general. With less time annually to build as I'd like, I doubt I'll build much if anything outside of LoR, but we'll see

I haven't done too well either! 1 - Still not started... 2 - Jim and I actually did a pretty nice collab this year. I'm quite happy with how it turned out, and am looking forward to improving it for next year! 3 - This actually got started as a product of #2. My big winter layout is a long-term project that I'm looking forward to expanding on for a while. 4 - Not even close. The numbers keep growing, but are all bagged at the moment. 5 - I think this has actually shrunk a little as a result of several factors. The new leadership has some great stuff in store though and I think 2017 will see a bit of a resurgence. New goals for 2017: 1 - Build a GBC module. LOL 2 - Finish setting up my Lego room. Need to hang some shelves and tidy up the current mess, which leads me to... 3 - Organize my minifigs. Since I got a Lego room, most of my collection has been nicely sorted. The figs are one of the last things that need to be unbagged and organized. 3a - Convert my elf hair to yellow by painting the ears. And then actually assemble my elf faction. 4 - Flesh out my BrickCon layout. Year one ended up being mainly a landscaping effort. Now it's time for some buildings and better foliage.
