Hey all,
As many of you know already, there is a new theme coming out, "Elves".This theme is modeled in the "Friends" aesthetic, with minidolls instead of minifigs. There are lots of bright colors and some pastels and metallic gold elements as well. What do you think of this theme? Do you think that it will be useful for parts and if so, what plans do you have for these sets? Images courtesy of Brickset.com's Photo Gallery - Check it out for larger versions of the above photos.

The only one I'm interested in is the Treehouse, but for me I probably won't get any. Will spend my money else where. (Like old hobbit sets.) I was really hoping it to be a fantasy Tolkein style elf theme, but Lego needs another girly mostly useless theme.

I greatly dislike the characters, I would have much preferred if they had done them somewhere along the lines of the Elf from the Collectible Minifigure theme, but the sets themselves aren't too bad. The new leaf colors are awesome and they do have a lot of neat pieces in various colors. While not top on my want list, I still may grab a couple.

There are some very interesting colors for parts working for this theme. Character and set names ( "Naida's 'Spa Secret'" ) are kinda weird, but Jay get one for the pieces. Of course, pretty much every set I buy is for the pieces, so not a big difference.

Yeah, I think I'm most interested in getting certain parts in "bulk" via BrickLink and maybe trying to color the ears of some of the hair yellow to see how it works with regular minifigs.
I'm excited for the little gold 1x1 swirly domes to be more common, along with some of the otherparts

I'll be honest. That elf ship and a few other sets if I get them on sale would be worth while. Either that or I just bricklink for the ship sails because the purple colour scheme is something I was thinking of introducing into Loreos for the Prince. Other than that...the Elven style of buildings could be used for some of the Elven Legion of Loreos who come from the region near Salus.

Well, there are lots of pieces in sand green, which has been a pretty rare color until recent sets(the lonely mountain) so ruins and castles in those colors could be a viable option now. The hair is pretty cool; I just hope LEGO moulds those parts on more "realistic" elf hair colors.

When I heard rumors about a line called "Elves" I so wanted to get excited. LEGO had done the Collectible Minfigure elf in series, what, 2? They had done Legolas and Haldir. They had some cool elf minifigs, so I thought to myself, "oh man, we're gonna be up to our eyeballs in cool elf torsos, legs, faces, molded ear-and-hair pieces, THIS IS GONNA BE SUH-WEEET!" Then I saw that it was basically Friends Meet Faeries. My enthusiasm... ebbed, shall we say, and has not recovered. There's nothing wrong with the line, and I don't dislike it (any more than I dislike Friends or Bionicle or other lines I don't happen to build for), but it's certainly not for me.

So these are officially out now and looking through Bricks and Pieces they have more cool pieces than I realized. Gothic arches are now in dark blue and dark red (For the love of bricks make them in bley!). Everything I might be interested in is available from Bricks and Pieces except for the hair pieces. I'll have to wait and see how those look on regular minifigs before I decide whether to pick them up but I definitely want several pieces from this line even though the line itself isn't appealing to me.

Agreed. Just as I don't build Friends sets but like some of the parts and colors, I'm not likely to build an entire Elves set, but I love having additional entries in the catalog of elements to choose from.

Yeah, trans purple. I have a plan for a floating castle that is suspended in air by what can only be described as "purple crystal magic", so I think the chains would be a cool thing to use for that.
