Entry to Lenfald LC 17- The Dragon's Maw: (Photo links to album) The oldest and most terrifying of Lenfald's natural wonders is the Dragon's Maw, which sits at the root of the Dragonscale Mountains and for which both that range and the city of Dragonsmouth were named. The Dragon's Maw is the fearsome entrance to a massive cavern that is said to lead down into the very bowels of the earth. The rock in its interior and the landscape in front of it is scorched and charred to a crisp and nothing has grown there for ages. Its name is derived from both its resemblance to a monster's jaws and from the heat that constantly radiates from its core. At intervals ranging from a few months to centuries apart, the mountain will begin to shake and rumble and a deep orange glow will appear within the Dragon's Maw, followed by an explosion of fire and ash from within the beast. The fire consumes all in its path and then dies away, leaving the land peaceful and still once again. The ancient tribes that once inhabited the mountain would offer sacrifices to try to appease the beast and quell its rage, but they eventually abandoned the area altogether. The Dragon's Maw has lain dormant for almost a century now... who knows when it might come back to life?

Team,AardWolf - Wow, welcome to Lenfald! Great character and intro Aardwolf, and we're looking forward to your builds. I'll add you to our rolls and update your personal points this weekend (I'll be out of town for a few days). And as Lego3364 said, I appreciate your LC17 very much, the lore behind it adds to the effect. Also, looks like The Boy Warrior ( @michaelmisen ) is coming back with a new character to replace his old one from Classic Castle Lord Marius's brother. Welcome back and happy building. As above, I'll add you in to the rolls this weekend. LC17 is ending 15 FEB, we have some wonderful entries so far but more should be on the way so get them in... I know both Mitah Val Karem and Sir Haymar Glen have 'em! And finally they haven't announced them yet but the GC is over and we have won in the Unrestricted category...but Garheim is looking extremely strong for overall points so another nail-biter

More of a filler. ======================================================================================================================================================= LoR: Febuary Free Build #2: The Fishing Village of Dalkotta LoR: Febuary Free Build #2: The Fishing Village of Dalkotta by lego3364, on Flickr Eolhelm and Ethron passed through the city gates into the Coastal City of Dalkotta. A city under the lordship of Lord Enladas. As they passed through the southern gate, the smell of fish wafted into their noses. They paid the public stables to keep their horses till the morning. They walked along the Warkf seeking a tavern to spend the night. All of a sudden a horse galloped around the corner, with an elf messenger on it's back. It stopped right in front of Eolhelm and Ethron. "Captain," he said speeking to Ethron. "My Lord needs you and Sir Eolhelm back at Thanadell." "Why?" Ethron asked puzzled. Not expecting the King to call for them. "The Lord did not state, He just said find you and escort you back to Thanadell. As fast as you could." "Fine," Eolhelm stated, "Meet us at the Southern gate, we must collect our horses." "Yes Sir," The Rider turned and galloped away. Then they turned and sprinted back to the stables. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Hah! Thought this was it didn't you? ) Meanwhile, in a house over looking the spot where Eolhelm and Ethron had met the messenger. A Tall dark figure handed some coins to a hooded figure. Lenfald Introduction Challenge- Reforesting (Picture links to album) Lenfald is a land of forests, and as such has a booming logging industry. Lenfel loggers learned early, however, that deforestation has its consequences- namely the erosion of fertile soil which prevents many plants from growing back. To ensure that Lenfald's bountiful resources remain secure for centuries to come, the logging industry has established the sustainable practice of reforesting- for every tree that is cut down, another is planted in its place.

Hey guys, here's my entry for LC 17 Natural Wonders of Lenfald: The Lost Grotto
Somewhere deep in the Dragonscale mountains, there is a small grotto hidden away. Untouched by time and man alike, this grotto, nicknamed The Lost Grotto, by those few throughout the years who have discovered it, is home to many a rare animal and plant. In the center of the grotto is a pool of startlingly blue water, fed by a small waterfall formed from glacial runoff up in Garheim. A single tree grows in the grotto, leading to it being nicknamed the Lonely Tree. High cliffs surround the grotto, mostly concealing it from the elements. A secluded and awe-inspiring spot, it is exceedingly difficult to get to, as it is far off any trails, and is only accessible through a tight and winding passage. Thus only a few have ever found The Lost Grotto, wayward travelers and those looking for a quiet spot to meditate mostly. For almost all, it has been a place of peace, and relaxation. A spot to detach and unwind. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Detail photos and the rest of the story can be found on my Flickr stream. Cheers, Joshua

The Blood Stone (LCC XVII - Natural Wonders of Lenfald)Category 32x32 or largerThe Blood StoneThe Blood Stone is a large standing stone placed right in the middle of a small spring high up in Armendahl's Mountain. A once clean spring, the water right under the stone turned red some time ago and no one knew why. Suspicion within the populace ran hight that some sort of evil magic was responsible. It was seen as a bad omen, and soon officials from the nearest city, Elavia, ordered the construction of a wall around the area with only a small culvert for the stream. Years have passed, Elavia has been abandoned and only the wall has long disappeared, but the mystery of the spring was not forgotten, and still some people dare to venture to the stone, as it is rumoured to have healing qualities and to strengthen magical powers. -- MOC thread

Hello Lenfels! Sorry for having gone dark for so long - work has been mental trousers. However, things should now be getting back to whatever counts as normal. Amazing to come back to see an LC in full swing and my name in a competition (probably a good thing I didn't win)! Just saw the deadline for this LC so it's pretty obvious that I'll have to sit this one out. Next time, though, next time Good to be back! B

Fellow Lenfels, a mix of good news and not so good news…- GC IX. No sense putting off the not so good news…We came in last. I need to explain why, as we won the Unrestricted Category, and even got the extra 5 points for the highest adjusted vote count, but still came in last in points. So to reduce the confusion, let me briefly explain. Participation rate is the #1 determining factor in GC point totals, especially Unrestricted entries, of which we only had 3. Garheim would have won even without winning the Restricted category. If we’d had 6 Unrestricted entries in this GC, we would have tied them for first place. I can explain how points are tallied up in another post if you so desire. So the lesson is to participate, and if at all possible create an Unrestricted entry. I’ll shut up on this now as I don’t want to come across as a lecturing FO, but awareness is important for our members. On the bright side, we are still the top scoring faction overall at 577 points. Andared , Becheman and @michaelmisen are back and our two new members Lego3364 and AardWolf have hit the ground running hard too. And there’s more good news as… - LC-17. Entries have been numerous and fantastic = I’m thrilled. Many of these are going on the Faction Intro page. I will move Lore to the underdeveloped History section to make room. So, the LC-17 deadline is passed and it is time to VOTE. Below is the link for the poll, please take time to look carefully at each and read the descriptions. Deadline is February 28th at midnight: LC-17 Voting Poll- Lenfald FLICKR site. We have one, and I’m now the Admin for it. I strongly encourage our new members to join and post there. You will have to ask for permission to join but I will get you in: Lenfald FLICKR siteScores Updated. Includes all LC-17 entries, Eolhelm’s monthly builds, my Unrestricted GC win, BrickMadness’ A1, and Aardwolf’s Introductory Challenge (which if it’s OK with you Aardwolf, I intend to use it as the example on that post). For LC-18, I will announce it with the LC-17 winner, but as a teaser…start thinking about your minifigs and minifig elements… Cheers, Gary
