We'll see what we can come up with Okay, but we're not duplicating the prize pool for teams; if you win, you'll just have to find some way to divvy the parts for yourselves. I don't encourage sibling-on-sibling violence, but if it comes to that perhaps we could have another photo contest for it. j/k. Haha, that won't be necessary! Justin and I get along just fine...most of the time

Looks like fun! Just for clarification, though, you're saying that I can post my said entry on MOCpages, and just add a link to it in this thread?

That is correct. Photos must be hosted on a different site and then linked here.

Do you guys plan on using any special font or anything? Should I put the words on my entry, or leave that blank for you to put on yourself?

We can always modify later if needed. I will ask everyone else, but that seems like a great part of the challenge.

Just to clarify, as I am now looking more closely at the current banner. But will the picture double over on the ends once it gets put up there? The scene I am building would look really awkward with my building being repeated on each side. I am feeling like I might have to redo some of my work to make it still flow with the repeat. I am not quite sure on how things will work, but I feel as if I could build a whole scene with wider dimensions, it would look a whole lot better than repeating one with smaller dimensions. I realize I am asking for a rule change and am thus excepting a no, but its something to think about anyways. Thanks in advance!

I suspect that we may ask the winner to provide custom-sized versions of his/her entry once all is said and done. For the purposes of this contest, we're really most interested in the best image, most interesting concept, most interesting composition, etc. So focus on submitting something eye-catching, and if you have ideas on how we could improve it for page layout purposes, you can provide those if and when you win.

It would be great to see your interpretation with font. We can always modify later if needed. I will ask everyone else, but that seems like a great part of the challenge. Why not just add a picture with words, and one without? For anyone so inclined, that seems like a reasonable approach. If you do submit a pair of images like that, we'll still consider them to be one single entry. No one has to feel compelled to do that, however; if you want to render a logo into your design, you're free to do that, and if you want to provide just a background image you're free to do that. We're intentionally leaving the parameters pretty wide-open so as to encourage people to enter.
(Personally, I'm more interested in the image than the text, just because it is possible for us to render text ourselves, but I won't presume to speak for everyone who might judge these entries.)

I do have a question which runs along these lines, that I don't think has been addressed. Other than just adding text, is editing such as lighting effects, backgrounds, etc. allowed?

By way of the rules, you're welcome to put in whatever effects you want. I will say, just from the standpoint of what's going to make for a winning entry, we want something that can fit well at the top of a web page, so anything that's too busy or chaotic might not have the best visual appeal. So if you can add lighting, backgrounds, or any other 2D or 3D graphics techniques to make your entry more compelling, go for it; just realize that cool shadows or lighting won't make an entry great all by themselves, and the winning entry might very well just be a straight-up painting or photograph.
That was a long-winded way of saying that we're intentionally not stopping you from doing whatever you want.
