Thanks Curt.
I had something not too different and I didn't like it. I think I would like that one a lot better.

Very, very noice work, Schmidt! Great work on the glass windows and walls, though I agree with A K about the flooring.

Unfortunately no. Ive not touched it in nearly two weeks. Work, life, and obligations have been on me big time. Hope to do some small additions this week.

I have actually completed this castle. All that is left is to photo it. I hope you enjoy the results and are pleasantly surprised. I will post a link to the creation when it is finished.

Well.. It is finally finished, and not too much later than my original estimated date.
This unnamed castle is complete.. and it sure was fun. Being my first castle, I have learned a lot of new techniques and I am already not satisfied. Well, let me rephrase that. I am satisfied that it is built, and I am satisfied that I have built my first castle, and I am ultimately satisfied with how it turned out for my first castle, but I am not satisfied as far as building skill. It may not look like much, but it really stretched my building abilities.
Please note: no editing has been done.
Some of the techniques were things I wanted to try. Offset windows, opening hinge places, small gatehouses with ladders, etc. Since I wanted the castle to be the primary focus of the build, I didn't even bother with an elaborate landscape.
I have many more pictures that I will be uploading in the next few days. It may take some time!
I am already planning my next castle! I have a vision of what it will look like, and am excited to get to work on it in the next few weeks!

This actually looks really realistic. Not an ornate fantasy castle by any means, but a really solid structure and I'm a big fan.
Big projects like this often are great ways to practice / discover / experiment with building techniques. I think you'll be impressed with how quickly you improve within the first few big projects you do. I know that's how it was for me, at least.
You'll also start to develop your own visual style. You'll figure out what you like (for me, I discovered I love turntable stained glass and SNOT dark blue water), and what you don't (Outlaws and Loreesi).
