Hi Everyone! I was thinking of doing a modified Jambalaya that is a little easier on wallets when it comes to shipping. What if the contents of the package were limited to 1 minifig with full kit (helm, hair/hood, weapon and shield). Each person would contact the person they were sending to to find out what style fig they wanted (yellow vs. flesh, classic vs. new, Lenfel vs. Loreesi, etc.) and then send it off. That process would continue throughout the list. This would only cost about $2.50 per person for shipping, I think. We could up it to two figs if we wanted, but the idea is to keep it small, light, and cheap. Would be a fun way to get some new fig parts and interact with your fellow Merlins-Beard.com members! Any interest? We could also just run a straight fig swap, where you get paired up with another builder instead of the traditional jambalaya route. Sign up list:

(shipping to me will be about $2 or so, my shipping to anyone south will be about $4 and shipping to anyone in canada should be about $2.35)

So, are you suggesting that we send a standard figure from a LEGO set , or that we get creative and make our own from existing parts. I think the latter sounds far more interesting, but I would probably do either one.

Schmidt, the latter, definitely.

I'm in. I think that there are pros and cons to both jambalaya style and paired up swap..... I think Jambalaya style could be more fun BUT I would propose a slight modification. Ship out three or figs to start so that there is a choice of what to swap. ONE RULE- figs shouldn't be modified by swappers.... as in I like this guys armor that guys shield etc.....
Thoughts?

to me i would see the Jambalaya being something interesting. i would view it as almost exactly like a normal one, except the starter (i can volunteer) would make 10-15 figs, put em in little bags, and ship em out to #2, the next person does exactly what you think they should, take 1-3 (remove them from the baggies) add the exact same number of them (which have been put into the baggies!), so on and so forth until it gets through everyone and they come back to the starter. the baggies would help prevent any mistaken mixing and removing or certain parts ect. i volunteer to start as i have a few hundred minifigs from all eras minus 2000-2008 that i can add in, many of my own builds and some very neat guys if i do say so myself. plus i am in Canada, so it would be easiest for me to start and ship overseas to the euro guys, as my shipping overseas is the exact same as shipping to the USA, where-as USA shipping overseas seems to be more than shipping to Canada. so essentially, i could start it to a Euro, they mail to other Euro's, one Euro who feels rich can mail it to a USA, who then circulates to other USA's and then a rich feeling USA ships her up to remaining Canadians who then would send it over to me. this is how i view it going down.

I'd sign-up if it was a 1 on 1 swap. This works well for the classic-castle Christmas fig trade (assuming people aren't stingey and just send a sealed cmf). I enjoy kitting out a neat figure from my collection of parts.
The jambalaya style sounds like it would just be another jambalaya but with minifig parts. The fun for me is creating the figure to send with a recipient in mind.
Edit: I wouldn't mind the 'round robin' list, ie not sending to the person who's sending to you as guess we just contact the person we're sending to. We wouldn't have to wait til ours arrived? But would prefer sending a completed fig, rather than pick-and-choose parts. Just my two cents.
