Hey all. In the process of getting rid of some LEGO, I went browsing through my unopened sets. So now, I am wanting to host a draft for the LEGO Hobbit set, "Attack of the Wargs," 79002. I have 5 copies of this set, so it would take four other participants. I am clearing out some old LEGO but would like to draft these, so I am not too terribly interested in selling them. I figure drafting them would clear my conscience somewhat about getting rid of them when I really don't want to!
This is a great set. Lots of minifigs, with good weapons and accessories. Great castle pieces with lots of foliage and plant elements. Not to mention the 10 wargs that would be in this draft. It's just a wonderful set for castle builders and a chance to get some good pieces.
I've hosted a couple of drafts before, and they have went well, so I would like to see if there is interest in this set. Since I have the sets in hand, you would just need to paypal me upfront. I wouldn't have to wait for sets to arrive, so I could start sorting now, and we could start drafting soon (maybe within the week?).
I am setting the buy-in fee at $45.00. This includes shipping and the drafter's fee. I feel this is a very fair price, as you can't even buy this set online for less than $50.00 (not including shipping).
The buy-in fee is broken down here.
$35.00 for the set (I found these clearanced out at Walmart many months ago. I won't even add in the sales tax to them, so you will pay a little less for them than what I did.) $6.00 for small flat rate shipping (if your shipping is anymore, I would take on the charges) $4.00 for host fee (when AK_Brickster began hosting these online drafts, the general consensus was that the drafter's should "tip" the host of the draft due to the amount of work the host must put in. I have included it here in the buy-in fee so it's not to be worried about later)
I am willing to make this draft for anyone residing in North America. Keep in mind, your shipping charges will go up if you do not live within CONUS. Additionally, if you want to draft and you already have a copy of this set, you can mail it to me along with your $10.00 buy in fee (covering both host fee and return shipping).
THE DRAFT ORDER IS SET.
So the draft order is as follows.
1.) Excalibur 2.) Schmidt 3.) Pyro 4.) Lilcurt 5.)
If you have any questions please post them here.

Once we have all the participants filled, people can start sending the money. I don't want anyone to send any money until I know we have enough to do this. So probably a week from now or so for the money.

I'm just wondering, Would we be drafting here? Through the PM system? And would we be able to use Paypal for money handling?
I might be able to do it I'd have to think about it.
I've also never drafted before so I don't know the rules and stuff. So you could consider me a Newb.

Newbies are great! Schmidt does accept paypal. The acctual draft will more then likely be hosted on flickr. RBC is currently running a draft look for the post here about it and follow the link to flickr to see how it is done. Drafts are fun an a good way to get parts from multiple sets with out having to buy multiple sets for said parts.

Oh Ok, I don't have a flickr, and would prefer not to make one. So maybe next time.

How do you think you'll split up the Wargs and figs? One warg per pick? Whole or parted out figs? I'm tempted, but I really don't NEED any of these parts so I'm terribly conflicted at the moment...

I will probably encourage 1 fig or 1 warg per pick, just because I see it as the most fair way.
I also have 5 unexpected gathering hobbit holes, and am considering doing this with them as well.
