So, I'm a pretty big football fan (professional, but I am trying to get into college more) and wondered if any other *FOLs were. If you are, would you be interested in a fantasy football league? I'm in two already, but I am considering starting another one (maybe even two). Season starts in a week, but I figure if there is interest, I could get it rolling and we could draft sometime this weekend (as my others are) or even early next week. If you have never done fantasy football but are interested, I still encourage you to join. This will simply be for fun and bragging rights. Maybe I'll offer something LEGO-related as a prize to the champion at the end . . . which would obviously just be me getting myself something, since let's face it, I'm a beast. EDIT: I've gone ahead and created the league. The website is: follug.league.fantasy.nfl.comThe password is: legofol Draft Date is set for Sunday, August 31st @ 8:00PM EST -- this can be changed, if necessary.

Hey Bronx,
I am unable to draft at all on Sunday. I hate to make everyone work around me, but I would love to do this if no one objects to changing days .

n00by question, but what the cheesecake is fantasy football? This is Sparta! fantasy football. Actually, I could probably draft on Sunday night if it was 8:30est or later That's fine. I can draft later, but I do not know if that time slot is available. I think 7:30PM and 9:30PM were the open start times when I created it. Is later better for you in this instance? And, we still need seven more people. Spread the word!

n00by question, but what the cheesecake is fantasy football? The basic idea is that we have a draft and all choose a team from real NFL players. For example, in the first round, you might pick Payton Manning. In the second round, you might pick Calvin Johnson. This goes on with each "manager" (that's you and me) picking players until our rosters are full. Then, every week during the NFL season, each manager goes head-to-head with another manager to see who's players put up the best stats. Ie, if Payton Manning throws a TD in real life, your team gets 4 points. If Calvin Johnson catches a pass for 12 yards, you get 1.2 points. Whoever's team earns the most points wins their matchup for the week, and so on. It is really a lot of fun. You should totally try it out. It looks like we need some more people to do it, and its just for fun, anyway!

Sounds great, but, embarrassingly, I have pretty much no knowledge of NFL players, as I don't watch football very often except for the Super Bowl. So I'll have to pass.

I can put out a shout out to the general SEALUG mailing list for more people if you want, but there's a good chance that we won't know some of them.
I can also make an announcement on Flickr.
