This was originally intended to be my entry for GC7, but due to events in my life I was not able to submit in time.
C&C are welcome and encouraged.
Calm Before the Storm
The midday sun beat down upon the King's Crown and the crowd of soldiers clad in the Queen's colors who stood guard at it's entrance. In their midst knelt three men, one clad in Loreesi red and white, one in Lenfel green, and the third in Garhim blue. They were generals, three men who were once bitter enemies, and now awaiting execution together as brothers in arms.
A man approached the the kneeling generals. He was dressed some of the finest garb which emanated his wealth. He is Lord Halric, once a minor Lenfel noble, now one of the Queen's generals, commanding an army of outlaws and bandits, fighting against his own countrymen.
"You know what you are?" Halric exclaimed. "Fools! The lot of you are fools. Did you think nobody would notice your gathering of rebels? Did you think you could prepare to strike at the Queen's castle and nobody would notice?! Look at how you and your soldiers are now my prisoners. Our agents are everywhere! We see everything and will stop at nothing to crush all who dare oppose Her. We WILL remake all of Roawia in HER image! And there is nothing you can do to stop us."
"Ugh, if I have to keep listening to another of this traitor's ramblings I think I'll start begging the headsman to execute me first." muttered Landon of Loreos.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Shouted Halric.
"He said that if all you plan on doing is rambling on and on about how great your false Queen is, than we would rather you execute us now rather than later." said Merak the Lenfel.
"HOW DARE YOU CALL HER RULE FALSE?!" Halric was aghast that these men showed no signs of fear, despite their impending doom.
"No true ruler of Roawia would need to enforce their rule through fear and death." Stated Theonis of Garhiem.
At this Halric drew his blade and brought it near Theonis' face.
"ENOUGH OF YOUR JABBERING!" Halric was furious. He drew a map from his pocket and thrust it in front of the kneeling generals.
"Tell me where your other allies are gathering and I'll make your deaths quick." He seethed.
Theonis looked Halric straight in the eyes and with a little smirk said, "I thought you said your agents were everywhere and saw everything. I guess not."

While Halric's failed attempts to interrogate the three generals attracted the attention of the Queen's troops, who found their leader's rantings amusing, Roland, Lorik, and Sven made their way up the back wall of the King's Crown courtyard, unnoticed.
"Looks like this is where they took all the rebels weapons." Lorik mused, "If what that soldier told us is true, the prisoners are probably inside the tavern."
"That gives me an idea." Responded Roland.
The men assigned to guard duty inside the tavern did their job very well. Too well.
They never expected an attack from behind, and thus thought nothing of the rushed footsteps coming from outside the doorway.
It took less than a second to fell both of the guards. Roland's axe and Lorik's sword hit them both from behind in synchronized motion.
Roland Stepped forward and addressed the prisoners.
"To those of you who are still able to fight, I ask that you stand with us! Together we can use the element of surprise to turn the tables on our oppressors and reclaim this day! WHO IS WITH ME?!"
STRIKE!
The rebels charged, picking up any weapon they could get their hands on from the courtyard. Those who could not fit through the archway climbed over the walls and leaped into the fray.
As they slammed like a wave into the Queen's dumbstruck soldiers, a single phrase was uttered in unison.
"FOR ROAWIA!"
