Here's my fourth free build for April, and the last piece of my trilogy: Ambushing an Alliance
An Attempted Alliance, Part Three: Ambushing an Alliance
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally. Mythrog thought as he, Carnox, and Loudre broke out of the dense swamp forest into the clearing in which the ruins of Fort Sinking Tree rested. ‘Clearing’ however was not the right word. For more then half of it was water with small chunks of old masonry sticking above the water line. The other half was soggy land with large broken down wall pieces; behind several of them were Blood legion troops waiting for the order to attack. Standing in right front of the water was a large squad of queen’s soldiers, standing in front of them was a tall mean-looking black-haired man, who could only be Sir Flork. They conveniently trapped themselves right by the water, now I ca…., Mythrog’s thoughts were interrupted by Loudre’s obnoxious voice,
“Ah finally we are here. Allow me to introduce you to Sir Flork.” Loudre stepped over and stood in front, and to one side of Sir Flork. Mythrog, with Carnox behind him, walked forward until he was several feet from Flork, who was staring at him suspiciously. Mythrog returned the look. Loudre who was oblivious, continued, “Sir Flork this General Mythrog, Mythrog this is Sir Flork.”
Flork silently offered Mythrog his hand, he ignored it and glanced over at Loudre without taking his eyes off Sir Flork.
“I can tell. It is High General Mythrog.” He looked back at Flork, “I am here, so tell me about the alliance.”
Sir Flork cleared his throat, polled a scroll out of a pocket, and began to read.
“You will not betray the great Queen, you will march to her aid if need be, you will aid her in crushing the rebellion that is going on in the three factions, you will never march against her, you will do as She commands, oh and you will swear allegiance to the great Queen. In return the great Queen will come to your aid, if She deems it necessary, She will not invade your territory unfairly, She will," He cleared his throat, "not march against you,and She will give you command over a large section of Lenfeld once the rebellion is crushed. The great Queen his sent me to answer any questions you have.” He cleared his throat again, “well do you have any?”
“Yeah.” Mythrog growled “there’s too many ‘you will’ and not enough ‘she will’.”
Sir Flork sniffed impatiently, “I didn’t write it, well do you agree?” He handed Mythrog the scroll, and pointed to a line at the bottom. “Sign here.” he handed a quill to Mythrog, who ignored it. Mythrog reread the terms, and confirmed his decision.
“Well have you made your decision? What have you to say? there is only one obvious decision.”
Yes there is only one. Mythrog thought,
“Yes I have. I say, ATTACK!!!!!!!” As soon as they heard the signal the Blood legion troops leapt from their hiding spots and attacked the shocked soldiers. Arrows and bolts flew, and the sound of men fighting and dying filled the air! As soon as he signaled the ambush Mythrog turned, and did something he had wanted to do ever since he had met Loudre. He raised his axe, and brought it down. Loudre barely had time to gasp before he was dead. Mythrog turned around and was about to go after Sir Flork when two soldiers (stupidly) blocked his way, the first paid with his life instantly, the second managed to raise his shield in time to block the killing blow, but a second swipe with the other axe did him in.
Mythrog turned around and was about to attack Sir Flork, when he realized that the battle was over. Sir Flork was standing, shocked, amongst his squad all of them dead. He was surrounded by a squad of live Blood legion. Not a single one had died in the combat. Mythrog raised his axe and hit Flork over the head with the flat of the blade. Five minutes later, after taking Sir Flork’s weapons armer and anything else of value, Mythrog splashed swamp water on Flork’s face to wake him up.
“Wh..Where am I?” He spotted Mythrog and suddenly remembered. “How dare you!” he reached for the sward Mythrog had taken away and realized that at was gone. “How cu…” Mythrog interrupted him by grabbing the front of his shirt and picking him up single-handed.
“You will take this message back to your precious ‘queen’. I refuse her attempted alliance, and instead, I DECLARE WAR!!!!”
