NEW GLOBAL STORYLINE UPDATE, continued from Part 9 - Wheels Within Wheels
———— ~ Part 10: The End... ~ ————
It had been many months since the treachery of the secretive sect known as the Areani. From the infiltration of the Roawian seats of power, to the discovery of the western isles, the Areani takeover had been meticulous in its planning and terrifying in its precision. Only the failed assassination of Loreos’s top military commander had caused their plans to be brought forward.

With the armies of Roawia divided by oceans and scattered over thousands of miles, on a fool's errand to explore the western isles, they had no way of protecting their homelands from the forces of the Areani, and in just a few short days the Areani sleeper agents that had been positioned throughout the lands of Loreos, Lenfald and Garheim had taken over the majority of Roawia's positions of power. Roawia's leaders either capitulated, were removed by force, or simply disappeared without a trace.

With no clear leadership and the majority of their armed forces off in new lands far from home, the people of Roawia had floundered and folded.
The bustling markets of Loreos fell silent as strict levies and travel embargoes were enforced by the occupying Areani forces. The lenfel barons, having grown used to their independence from Roawia now found themselves burdened with heavy taxes, even the resilience of Garhiem was tested as fishing quotas began to cripple the ports and starve the people. And so it was in the north that the rumblings of resistance began.

Far from the headquarters of the Areani in the loreesi citadels of the south, and coupled with some deep-seated suspicion of loreesi collusion, the people of Garheim began to whisper of an uprising.
The garhim grumblings flowed down through the lenfel forests to become a river of rebellion, which by the time it reached the plains of Loreos had amassed into a wave of insurrection. Soon, across the three lands, from simple merchants to noble knights, humble farmers to loyal lords had all taken up arms against their Areani oppressors.
The initial uprising was swift but bloody, with lives lost on both sides. But the Areani were masters of deception and espionage so rooting them out from every seat of power and hidden foxhole took a number of weeks. Many of the Areani were put to the sword, along with the roawian citizens that had taken advantage of the situation to grasp a position of power for themselves. But in due time the lands of Roawia found peace, and new leaders rose up to steer Loreos, Lenfald and Garheim to prosperity as friendly, independent nations. The markets of Loreos bustled again with buying and bartering of loreesi silk, lenfel timber and garhim minerals. The forests of Lenfald chirped once more with the songs of birds and local bards. And the halls and highlands of Garheim resounded again with heroic tales, this time telling of the rebellion and victory over the Areani.

So the people of the Lands of Roawia were now free to live as they wished, to build, trade, travel and explore, but they would never forget all that had come before them.

The Challenge:
a) Oppression - show how your character responded to the oppression of the Areani. Were they beaten down? Did they join the Areani for their own benefit?
b) Rebellion - Show how your character responded to the rebellion. Did they fight for freedom or did they flee for their lives?
c) Victory - Show how the Lands of Roawia celebrated the victory over the Areani. Was it glorious or bittersweet? Did the rebellion bring your character death or glory?
- So this is it. The Final 'Global challenge'. There are no size restrictions (build what you're able) or time limits (at the moment - though you may want to tie it in with the Summer Joust on Flickr). No points, no winners or losers, just an opportunity to bring your character to a fitting resolution, whether that be death or glory... All builds should be posted in this thread for everyone to enjoy though feel free to post them also in your faction thread.
The 'world of Roawia' will remain open to anyone who wishes to continue building in it, and who knows, maybe the occasional local challenge as well...
- The End
