It is typically at least spelled out in the rules for GC's and LC's that your character MUST be included, but you may be right that we could have never actually made a rule about them being in ALL builds. I will try to find that rule, if it exists. If not, the main idea in LoR is that your builds are telling the story of your character, so your character should be in as many builds as possible. If a GC or LC uses wording like "show your character [...]" the case is clear, and guild builds have to include the character by definition. But I don't see the harm if a free-build shows secondary characters or takes place at a location where your character can't be currently. This allows for builds that build or further expand the world of Roawia, and not only the personal story of the character (if your character is a warrior/leader, he would not be depicted farming a field or fishing - and shoehorning your character into such a scene should really not be the aim.

Couldn't agree more Mitah, I am sure some members want to make quiet civilian scenes, instead of only battles and forts.

Keep in mind that your character isn't always engaged in battle, so showing facets of his civilian life would be a great way to enhance his story. Mitah, I agree with you. As I said, the objective is telling your character's story, so if a scene without your character is needed to accomplish that, then that's fine. We just want to make sure that your character remains the focal point, which is why we encourage featuring him/her to be included in most builds

Does the CIC require a build? Or is it just making their profile? I can't figure that one out.

Lego3364 Your CIC is a small build introducing your character. Being in Garheim, you might want to show your character in a snowy field, or in front of a fire in their home.

Read the guild rules and you'll find your answer, I think. It should say in there that your guild builds may not be used as any other build for LoR, and vice-versa. Your guild builds should be built specifically for that task. It's not about combining builds and rushing through the guild, it's about mastering your building skills!

Hey Curt the two are supposed to be separate with no double-dipping.
As in, you can do two guild builds and two free builds each month.
So you would need a total of four builds to qualify, and not two builds, with each build counting as one in both categories.
Does that make sense?

Is it okay to use muskets or firearms , or for that matter, cannons, from the Pirates series?
Or is LoR mostly late antiquity - early Middle Ages?

Cannons and muskets are not typically allowed in LoR. It is a medival fantasy setting. That being said, some say the dwarves closely guard the secret of gunpowder and steam technology, but never share their knowledge with the other races. Correct me if I'm wrong KC!
