Maxim the Pious surveys the naval crossbows defending the newly constructed fort, when he is approached by a mysterious figure...
Killgore: Greetings Spy-catcher General, I congratulate you on your election.
Maxim The Pious: And who might you be?
Killgore: I am a Lord and landowner, My name is Killgore.
Maxim the pious: Why have you come here? Do you understand that this outpost is a protected area?
Killgore: I do good sir, but I have come with grave tidings...
Maxim the Pious: And what might that be?
Killgore: I was recently visiting the magical Isles, and they are buzzing with an ill rumor... apparently many of the area's most prominent seers have foretold the death of your dear prince Mark.
Maxim the Pious: Impossible, there is no chance that he could be dead, do you know that you speak treason?
Killgore: I have heard that he has recently gone on a sailing trip,
Maxim the Pious: That is classified, How do you know this?
Killgore: Killgore knows. I have been told that he has drowned. These things happen at sea.
Maxim the Pious: Why do you bring me this unfounded news?
Killgore: Because with the prince gone you need a ruler.
Maxim the Pious: And who do you propose? Yourself?
Killgore: Why yes I do.
Maxim the Pious: This is ridiculous, what claim to the throne have you?
Killgore: In fact I do have claim, I -dialogue cut- Which gives me plenty of claim.
Maxim the Pious: Well that does change things, buy there is no proof that the prince is dead, and we cannot simply hand the kingdom over to you on a whim, do you understand?
Killgore: Yes I do, However, as the catcher of spies, I expect you to be honorable, and I give you my oath that I had nothing to do with whatever fate may have fallen our beloved prince, but If he is truly gone, I hold you as my witness, that I will diligently take up the crown in defense of our people.
Maxim the Pious: I hear your oath, but I cannot pledge my loyalty to any but the current king, you may attempt to get support for your power bid, but I cannot elect you king without a vote of good faith from the people, understand?
Killgore: Yes I hear you, I do hope that the prince returns, but if he is delayed I could serve the people diligently, and without question.
Killgore bows and leaves,
Killgore: (to himself) I do suspect that the poor prince has met his end, but I doubt that these people will ever except me as a ruler.
The End, for now at least.
