Hmmm I wonder if it is a knockoff or a 'parts fell off a truck or out the back door of the factory) situation.

That was fast. Just got a shipment notification. Yeah same, I also ordered 20, in for a penny, in for a pound right! I have a few. I'll pull them out and do a side by side comparison for you guys. Oh that would be great, I should have asked earlier! I was planning on doing the same once they arrived. Please tell me the quality isn't terrible! I also got some unique redcoats and my four year old a stack of star wars figures and some dinosaurs.... And here I was fearing universal condemnation when I made the post!

Mine were a gift. I hid them in the back of a drawer out of shame, haha. I wouldn't say the quality is "terrible", but if you want that kind of stuff, you might as well just switch to Megablocks, lol

that bad? well I will be then asking them for a refund or claiming this on amex as lack of quality I was hoping/expecting it's the real deal that left out of the back door of the factory

Regardless of quality, you'd think that the super cheap price would indicate that TLG is making a buttload of cash off of these CMFs, haha. They have factories in China, and I'm guessing their production costs are not 4x higher just for better plastic

They have factories in China, and I'm guessing their production costs are not 4x higher just for better plastic For sure! and you know, I wouldn't mind paying the $5 each for a Lego CMF, if they were available. Hell I ended up getting around 20 of the Fright Knight. Problem is that they are hard to get in Canberra - most shops only get one or two boxes which sell out really fast - you have to be stalking the shops around the time you think they will be released to get any. So far I've seen the Batman CMFs in one shop - and the box was empty... Also they only run for a limited time. As I said originally, you won't find the Legionary with all his accessories on BL for under about US$20... and that's just the starting price. I guess that is part of what makes them so successful! Maybe what TLG should do is re-release the most popular 16 CMFs! (I'd simply take the top 16 priced ones on BL!) Exclusive to the Lego Online shop (so you have to pay the outrageous shipping prices) and not in blind bags.... Also make a massive amount of them.... But then I guess you detract from the 'Collectable' aspect.... *sigh* what to do!?!

Do what I do and buy as many as you can when they are first available. Anything I might want an army of, I try to get right away, either from retail stores or on BL if the price is comparable. Being in the USA makes this a lot easier than in Australia though, from what you're saying.
It can be kind of expensive to take this approach, but far cheaper than trying to get them later once the price has gone up!

Having sworn that I would buy castle themed sets in large quantity as soon as they are out, I find myself not even buying one of the Rogues from the recent theme as my funds are quite limited, especially with what is turning out to be an expensive semester, grr
