So... The holiday exchange didn't seem to work out too well this holiday season. I am curious to hear from folks if it is due to the fact that you had to build a set or because shipping of the set would be more expensive then shipping a minifig or if people were afraid that they would get "shortchanged" on the exchange?
We had 4 people signed up. One person dropped off the face of the planet leaving Andhe out cold... Thank god he disappeared before the addresses were swapped and Andhe shipped anything.
Second pair we're still finalizing ad I was traveling and I asked Lilcurt not to ship while I was gone.
Appart from that I know of one person that wanted to but due to lack of time couldn't participate. How about the rest of you - Anything that can be done to make this type of an event more appealing to you?

I think Classic-castle pretty much has the monopoly on this sort of christmas exchange, even though we both tried to do something a little different this year.
Seeing as they had a lower than usual turnout I wonder if by over-complicating things we alienated some who may have got involved. We could try pushing this to the summer, or dialling it back to a more straight-forward format like the minifig jamabalaya.
I think some of the 'older' members may be a little jaded, or have been burned by trading, and I think the lack of current Castle theme might also mean people have less 'fresh lego' they're happy to part with?

I think that both CC and MB got too ambitious I think that for next year the straight fig exchange should be base with the bigger exchange being an option.
