So splitting off from the boat thread I started doing more digging. I discovered something interesting - brickset.com/sets/6021-1/Jousting-Knights ran $5.25 in 1984 and it included 2 figs and 2 horses. Converting 1984 dollars to today's dollars the set should run $12.26 (give or take). I can't see a 2 mounted knight set for under $15 being offered. Least expensive set with a horse in the castle line was $19.99 brickset.com/sets/theme-Castle/year-2013 . Granted it does offer a lot more bricks in the set then the Jousting Knights did so that's a poor comparison. This took me onto a different line of thinking - Castle comparison. A 2013 Castle ran $99.99 and it included 7 figs and 1 horse. brickset.com/sets/70404-1/King-s-Castle1984 Kings Castle included 12 minifigs and 4 of them were mounted. It ran $52.75 and in today's dollars it would be $123.17. This is an interesting comparison because the castles are somewhat comparable and the main difference is in the minifigs and horses. So for $23.17 extra (23% more) we would get 4x the horses and nearly double the minifigs. Looking at the value of the jousting set from 1984, it seems that the sets do include same for same (or close to) as a castle $99.99 + 2x 12.26 comes up to $125.52 and would include 11 minifigs and 5 of them would be mounted making it a somewhat 1 to 1 comparison. Thoughts?

Oh yeah.... I forgot brickset.com/sets/6073-1/Knight-s-Castle - which would be worth $63.04 in todays dollars. Now it had 2 mounted figs with total of 6 minifigs though the castle was significantly smaller..... so... that kinda blows a hole in my theory?

But since one of the horses and knights is missing flesh and skin they count as half?
