Yeah for sure.
I might possibly have a business card hook-up but I think we could probably come up with a good collaborative design between now and say the end of June between all the participants and contributors.

Indeed. I imagined baddies streaming in through the burning and destroyed city gates and flooding atop the walls via a few siege engines but mainly grappling hooks/ladders with more running through the streets with torches and stolen loot. I also think a good idea to implement from the Whiterun layout are the different "layers" or "levels" (Districts in-game) to the city with a main keep or fortification atop a hill somewhere towards the back of the city with cliff faces on the other side, which are themselves surrounded by impressive walls at the base. Maybe a few houses sprinkled in towards the bottom, but mainly a natural fortification reinforced by an architectural one. Something like this in theory, except with walls towards the base. The cavalry can be riding through some fields outside the village/town with crops and small farm houses already being mostly burnt down. This to me seems like a very simple but dynamic "castle" and "monster infused" collab. And if some standards are established for house structures, roads, towns' people, guards, baddies, etc. the 'look' of the entire city and layout will come across as well designed and cohesive. When I read this, the first thing that came to mind was a huge raid on the Shade! Imagine if we could somehow pull that off! I'm not sure how it would fit into the Global Story, or who would be doing the raiding, but I personally think it's an awesome idea. As long as we had a measure of cohesiveness, people could build whatever style they liked, since the Shade is very jumbled and un-even. Thoughts?

Sir Haymar Glen I can see the advantages of having a city like the Shade being the basis for a build like this because it does have that "jumbled" style to it which allows for a variety of architecture, colors, etc. like you noted but I see more problems arising switching to the Shade because of the physical Favela like layout. There's a huge range in vertical leveling, with the street and alley construction and connection being almost entirely random and often irrational, the presence of huge cliff faces, and the buildings themselves being off angle/grid, weirdly planned and scaled, plus making them look properly run-down is actually a fairly tough affair to get right (In my opinion). If you look at collabs like the Cyberpocalypse 2013 and 2014 displays a lot of the portions had to be updated/changed/reworked/added on site, and if we're messing around and figuring out how everyone's contribution can/should/could fit-in to the display all week, that leaves little time to set-up hundreds of minifigs in battle, which might be especially challenging if the streets are tight and winding. I just imagine a group of minfigs being completely bulldozed by my shaking and contortioned hands multiple times So, in my personal opinion, I think the Shade presents more problems then it really solves. You're free to disagree or counter my points since you have more collab experience than I do but the logistics sound like a nightmare to me. I do enjoy possibly turning the tables though and instead of a human city being raided by monsters, it could be a non-human city, I'm imagining an orc encampment or small town, being raided by humans.

Did we settle on a head collaborator? Once that is decided we should probably follow their lead.

Just a quick input, has anyone on here read the Inheritance book series?
If so the city of Teirm comes to mind. It is a costal city but it has a layered defense style to it. The lower walls and buildings are lower then the next ring of defense with a citadel in the center. The thought was attackers the breached the lower levels would be at a disadvantage because defenders could climb on top of roofs and can still shoot down at attackers.

Schmidt I don't believe so. Just a quick input, has anyone on here read the Inheritance book series? If so the city of Teirm comes to mind. I haven't read the series but that city design sounds pretty cool. I'm fine with having differences in vertical leveling like this where it's more stair-stepped and consistent in nature, than vertical leveling that is completely chaotic and hard to plan around like in the Shade.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been able to post earlier. I've been busy with post-BrickFair sorting among other things. If you all don't mind, I'd like to lead the 2016 collab. I've got some great ideas that I'd like to share later. Carrick of Garheim: I like that idea. We should try to work that in if we build any kind of city-castle. On a side note what's the Inheritance series? I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

It's all yours bud, lead us to our destiny! Thank you! I think that the first thing that should be decided is what we want for the overall build. Judging from past comments, it seems that everyone is most interested in another large-scale siege. But what kind of siege? Do we want a siege on a landlocked castle? Or a castle-town thats half on the water, kind of like the last collab, only with more focus on the castle then the town? How about a castle on a small island, so the only way to attack it is with ships? Or do we want a siege on a town rather then a castle? The list of all who have said they are going to contribute so far is: @high General Mythrog Schmidt@zach Bean nightstalker@sir Haymar Glen, and @sir Caelan Munro will be going and contributing minfigs, but probably won't be building anything for the collab. As for business cards, I think we should try to get some made. Last Brickfair the makeshift ones we had were a huge help. I must have handed out it least 15 of them.

My personal opinion would be a land-locked castle/town, with more emphasis on the actual town (Nothing overly ambitious or gigantic, maybe just ~10-20 structures total, with most being smaller houses) but also with a hilltop keep/castle with more fortifications than the rest of the town, which would be surrounded by smallish wall and a few towers. Outside the walls would be a few tiny farm houses too.
Also, I'll see if I can get the cards done or not.

The Inheritance series is a 4 book long series by Christopher Paolini. It's about the return of dragon riders. It's an amazing series

Sorry about the lack of posts the past few months, but I figured that with the holiday season nobody would want to do much planning on the collab. And then the computer I'm using had some technical problems and had to be taken in to be fixed. Now that I've got it back I should be able to spend more time online.
On to more important matters. It seems that Zach is the only one to post his opinion on what type of collab we should do.
What does everyone think of placing the collab on the Great Western Islands? It would give us a interesting environment to build. Just a thought.
I'm running out of time, so I'll post more tomorrow.

I'm up for pretty much anything. I'm not sure what my level of involvement will be since there's a couple other collabs I might participate in as well. And also because I'm a poor college kid

We could build some islands scattered about and have them being sieged? Or something to that effect.
