Hey guys, some issues have come up that you all should be aware of. Due to lack of money, and running low on parts, we won't be able to build the original plan for the castle. We have come up with an alternative, however. Instead of being a full three sided castle in the shape of a U, it's going to be a side-ways L shape. Since it's already built, the left side of the castle will be complete, but instead of a full tower and wall on the right, the rock wall along the back will curve gently in, and the forward right hand tower will be built into the rock, like the rear tower on the left side. This allows for us to not have to order a bunch more parts, and thus not spend a ton more money. Plus, it'll give the whole diorama a more interesting feel, sort of like an evil Helm's Deep. Schmidt: this does cut into the counter-attack, as A 8 will no longer be there, and most of B 8 will be covered. Please let me know if you have any questions/complaints.

Sounds cool to me, might even look better than the original plan, plus, story-wise, the rock wall curving around would serve well to block Schmidt's counter attack from view so it has that going for it as well.
One question though, you said A8 will no longer be there? So there is going to be a corner missing off of the end? 47 modules instead of 48?
Also, we still need someone to make B1 and C1, those are the only unclaimed modules as far as I can tell.
In other news, since no one's called it yet and this kind of is his castle, I will be bringing Maldrake, along with a few elite guards.

I'm completely fine with that, I actually like the idea of a Helm's Deep style castle.

I think he's saying that A8 and B8 will now be covered almost entirely by rock/cliff and Maldrake's fortress, thus will no longer be viable space for Schmidt's counter attack. At least that's what I thought when I read it. I could be terribly wrong though.

Joshua this is no problem at all. Do you need C8 as well?

Lord Mercat: What I was thinking of was that the rock wall would curve out to the tower, then gently curve back in again, creating a projecting pinnacle of rock. Unfortunately, we don't have the rock pieces for this, so we're trying to figure out an alternate solution. Zach Bean: See my answer to Mercat above. You were mostly right though. Schmidt: No. The way I was working it, C8 would have been free, as would, to some extent, the other two modules. However, as I mentioned above, we don't have the parts needed for this. We have a couple ideas for solving this problem, but none of them are ideal solutions. Does anyone have ideas/solutions? They would be much appreciated.

Okay, the obvious solution is simply to have someone else build one or two of the rock modules. For anyone to do this however, they'll need to actually see what you've got so far. If you've got any of the rock modules done, please link pictures so we can all see what is needed.
Possible alternative solutions- 1- We could have the allied forces simply blow up the wall, so that only rubble would need to be built. Not a huge fan of this, but if its the only option we have... To do this properly though, we'd likely need to flip the entire display, IE- have the blown up wall be the left wall, versus the right. 2- Someone sends Joshua the rock parts he needs. I would be willing to do this.
However, we need to come up with a solution for this pretty fast.

Thank you for your incredibly generous offer to send me the parts, Mercat. I think the obvious solution is the best, in this case. We do have some rock modules done, and we'll take WIP shots later this coming week. Could you, Mercat, build A8? All that's on it is a tall, straight rock wall at the very back of the module. The rock starts to curve around to make the pinnacle on A7. Immediate replies are needed, as BF is 16 days away!

I will build A8, so long as you can send me a picture of A7, so I can try and match the style of the rock wall. Also, did we ever get anyone to build B1 and C1? I can't do those, I've only got enough parts to cover my 12 and A8.

Do you guys have enough Garheim troops to represent us well? If not, I can send some to someone to borrow for the event. I would send as many as would fit in a small or medium flat-rate box, depending on how many you need.

I mean, I can donate close to 300 if you need that many, but shipping would be expensive and that's a lot to keep track of

lilcurt akbrickster: Thanks for the offer guys, but I think we're going to have more than enough troops for the display. Lord Mercat: I don't think we did get someone to do those. Maybe the JJ's could build them? Lord Mercat zachb: Below is a photo of A6 & A7. Mercat, as I said on Flickr, A8 will extend from the right side of A7, gently sloping towards the back of the plate. The rock wall should sheer off in a steep end point about half-way along the module. As well as these two, we have 9 other modules complete, and two more under construction.

Wow, that certainly is a rock "wall". Looks good. I can see the dark red leaves at the top. I think they match nicely with the dark tan and brown.
