For the time being I have stopped building up the gatehouse and concentrated on the Lord's chambers. It's 2 main stories with a 3 story tower. I see the main floor as a reception/audience chamber of sorts. The second floor would be a big dining area. The first floor of the tower would be his office space. Second bedroom. Third - Library? This section of the keep has underwent many revisions. It got enlarged twice, which was a major PITA as I already had the base mountain section finished

It looks great! In my opinion I'd put some grey outwards facing snot work under the towers roof.

Hmm. That might actually work out. You keyed in on something that still bugs me - the finish of the tower looks like it is missing something.

Looks nice, the only other thing i would say that I would like to see is doing something to break up the giant gray wall syndrome. I would like to see the alternating Lbg, and Dbg hatch pattern on the corners, but thats just me an it would require tearing apart which I dont think needs to be done. But a thought for the future perhaps

I agree a bit more variation to the tower wall would have been good. Although too much effort to pull apart now.
Something around the underside of the roof will make a difference.
I like the window frame technique

Some modifications are not out of the question as looking at that wall does get... well ... boring I'm considering doing something that breaks up the levels maybe. Another thing I am considering is adding some green plant stuff on the wall.

I like the window frame technique I might be coming back to it after I build out the gatehouse a bit. It seems that every time I build one section it inspires me how to modify another section.

Light blue gray, dark blue gray alternating patern on corners. Ah! Had that on one of the towers in the past - had mixed feelings on it. Might try it again (it's easy to take appart a segment as it's just a minifigure + couple bricks high)

So..... here's an attempt at making the tower less boring What I'm thinking about now is to make the center section have the same layout of the corners (start at an L on the bottom and finish at an L on the top) and maybe the two plate thickness divider at each section have dark grey as well? Or maybe flip it and keep the center section as is and finish on a single brick and then have the two plate thickness break the monotony?

How about this?

For consistency it may look better to take the dark grey features all the way to the bottom of the wall for the corner. But otherwise I think this has made a really good improvement to the look of the tower.

Im actually thinking about doing this to all 4 corners of the 2 sections below.

That looks much better. Some architectural details to transition between the tower and roof would add character too. Nothing too complicated is needed. Just a little sumptin-sumptin
