Hey everyone.
Several people have suggested that we allow more than one "playable" character per person. We want to know what the general populace thinks.
Pros: Allows more flexibility in story telling and challenge participation (ie, if your "main" character is in prison, your "alt" character can participate in the GC/LC)
Cons: Could result in poorer character development and confusion if too many characters are active in the world.

I voted for two. I don't think players should be restricted, but that any more than 2 May be a little too chaotic. Two characters should give players flexibility to do what they would like.
It should be noted we are talking about two characters restricted to one faction, not multiple factions.

I think Maybe the two characters should be linked somewhat in story though. Maybe they have to appear in the same build once a month? Something like that.

I voted for each player only having one character to use. Personally I feel it would lead to a more cohesive/fleshed out storyline and would make for less confusion overall. If it had to happen, I would also propose Lego3364's idea, at least that way the storylines are sure to be connected pretty solidly.

I vote only one character. Having only one character is partially what makes LoR unique.

This topic has it's pros and cons but I think up to two characters is OK but not more. This allows more flexibility in story telling. Example: If there is a GC that takes place in Loreos you can have your major character in Garheim recruiting troops and your second character in Loreos fighting against the enemy. The fact that you can have more than just your major character helped me with my decision to join GoH over at eurobricks.com in the last year and it works quite well over there. But then I realized that I prefer LoR over GoH because there is not that much of magic and fantasy going on here and of course the community is also great

I voted for two. My thought is that people who prefer to only use one can still do it. People who feel that they need two characters in order to best tell their story would be able to have that freedom.
How many books have you read where the entire story is only from the perspective of a single character? I think most books follow more than one character to at least some degree, and that's an option that this would provide for. With that said, books are written such that the characters interact and tell a cohesive story. I think that both characters should be interwoven in some way or another. Not necessarily in the same build, but they should be used together to tell a single story.
A couple of well-established characters might even allow people to tell better stories than they could with just one.

Voted for 2 as well. Allows a person more flexability in there stories, but still limits chaos.

For clarification, can this second character be in a different faction?

I voted for two. I'd really like to flesh out my character's old Shieldman's story, and the two could easily merge often as both inhabit the same city. As Jordan stated, many of the best books switch between characters to tell the story, and this allows for different storytelling when taking the character's personality into account.

For clarification, can this second character be in a different faction? As the poll states, and Schmidt has clarified already, this would only be within the same faction. Allowing participation in two factions would really be screwy in terms of scoring and making sure participation rates were even.

A couple of well-established characters might even allow people to tell better stories than they could with just one. At first I was wondering what counted as two characters, but I think there would still be just one main character, right? The other would be, like in most books, a side character who really doesn't have a story revolving around him/her, just a couple chapters about (or from the perspective of) him/her, right ? If so, I'm fine with that, I basically already do that, and it will allow, as you said, one to enter the GC while their more main character is in prison, and that's what I was talking about in the other thread. Thanks for taking suggestions! Btw, I voted two (naturally ).

I think 2 might be a good option for folks. It would allow for more flexibility/openness but prevent chaos that would result from 2+.
