Attention Garhiem! As summer has entered into fall it is time for the 6th Annual Fishing Tournament. While others may concern themselves with talk of new beginnings, Garheim is celebrating tradition & a great year and chance to stock up before the winter!
Challenge: Create up to 2 characters who will participate in the fishing contest. They may include one or both of your primary characters but that is not required. Create a short back-story for each fisherman/woman and post a picture of him/her with their fishing gear. Characters from previous years may be used but new pictures and write-ups will be required.

Here is the rules on how to build your anglers (same as the last few years):Each fisherman has certain skills that you must decide: Lure-making Skill, Fishing Technique, and Luck (something all fishermen need from time-to-time!)
Assign up to 6 points between the 3 skills, from 1-4 (each skill must be at least a value of 1). The higher the skill, the more rolls you'll be allowed for that part of the fish-catching process. Example: Lure-making Skill 3, Technique 2, Luck 1 = Total of 6 points
The second part of the challenge is to decide where you would like to fish. The regions vary in fish quantity, weather conditions, and the size of the fish in the area. A higher number in the first 2 categories indicates a higher level of difficulty. A higher number in the size category means that is the largest fish you can get in that area, from 1 being a small minnow to 6 (or 7!) being a literal sea-monster! All die-rolling will be done by the host.
Your locations to choose from are (Quantity, Weather, and Size rankings follow):
Lake Mikithdar - (Q2, W1, S3) - A peaceful lake in summer, the conditions are not as ideal now and so the casual fishing in the area has all but stopped. The fish have still not had time to grow beyond their typical maturity here but this location will support more anglers than normal. (This location can handle 7 anglers before being over-fished. At eight or more this location will be Q3)
Gulf of Fishes - (Q3, W2, S4) - It's called the Gulf of Fishes because it's a gulf. With fish in it. A lot of fish. It is an expansive area which means that one fishing party may be catching fish as fast as they can recast while another unlucky soul might not get a nibble all day. Large fish from the ocean have been known to wonder into the bay, so there is always the possibility of landing something surprisingly large for such a shallow area. (This location can handle the standard 5 anglers before being over-fished. At 6 or more anglers, its quantity will be Q4.)
Ice Fishing in the NW Coast - (Q1, W4, S2) - The weather here in winter can be (is most definitely) ferocious and the fish you can fit through you little hole in the ice are, generally, not larger than the hole. This is a terrible place to fish this year. (This location cannot be overfished)
Jharton Bay - (Q4, W3, S5) - Off the Southwest coast of Garheim, there is usually a lot of competition for fish from Lenfel vessels but the plummeting temperatures have driven them off. Open water means big waves and big fish so come prepared and you may be rewarded. (This location can handle the standard 5 anglers before being over-fished. At 6 or more anglers, its quantity will be Q5.)
Grahnhaven Port - (Q1, W1, S3) - Located in the far southeast of Garheim, Grahnhaven is the last bastion of summer in the realm. It boasts some decent sized fish for such an easy location but the fish don't grow as large as in other 'open' water areas since the span between Grahnhaven and Lion's Head is all shallow. With such ideal conditions, expect it to be crowded. (For every angler over 3, this locations quantity will worsen by one.)
The Howling Seas - (Q2, W6, S6) - This area boasts the worst winter weather year-round but for whatever reason, the fish love it! There are tales of fish so big they swallow elk whole. Even if you don't believe in seafaring elk, it is common knowledge that some incredibly large fish can be found here. Tournament winning fish are certainly beneath the surface but take care lest you end up like the elk. (This location can handle the standard 5 anglers before being over-fished. At 6 or more anglers, this location's quantity will be Q3.)
Kregand's Crater - (Q6, W6, S7) (sum of two rolls, up to 7) In the mountains north of Mikithdar, there is a deep pool, created by hotsprings. It is rumored to be the home of an enormous water-monster, the size of a small ship. However, the surface waters are boiling hot, and even the best fishing gear won't last long. If you DO succeed in landing a fish, you'll get to roll twice and add the scores for a total of up to 7 for each luck point you have and be the stuff of legends and tavern songs for generations to come! (This location cannot be over-fished)
Skraborg Bay - (Q2, W3, S4) On the west side Garheim this is a new location that is part of the competition this year. Just south of the Great Driftplains, the ocean water fierce, but the fishes are at least as big as the Gulf of Fishes. (This location can handle the standard 5 anglers before being over-fished. At 6 or more anglers, its quantity will be Q3.)
Example:
Fisherman Name: Grunch
Abilities: Lure 2, Skill 3, Luck 1 (This character would get 2 rolls to lure in a fish, 3 rolls to successfully fight the fish, and 1 roll to determine the size of the fish.)
Location: Jharton Bay (Q 4, W 3, S 5)
This fisherman has decent lure-making skill, so he gets 2 chances to hook a fish. Since the quantity of fish in Jharton Bay is ranked a 4 (moderately difficult), he must roll a 4 or higher to hook a fish.
Rolls: 3, 4 - Grunch hooks a fish!
The weather off the coast of Jharton is a little rough, but our man has good technique. He has 3 tries to roll greater than or equal to a 3 to overcome the conditions.
Rolls: 6, 2, 3 (catches fish - note: though both the 6 and 3 qualify, only your best roll counts)
The fish off of the coast of Jharton can be quite large, but Grunch is short on luck. He'll only get 1 roll to determine the size, which maxes out at 5 for this fishing spot.
Rolls: 6 (discarded - too high), 5
Final Results of Example: Grunch catches a fish, and it's a big one! It looks like he used what little luck he had to max out his potential catch's size.
If you have any questions regarding how this works, please feel free to ask them in this thread, or PM me if you want to keep your strategy safe.
Reward: 2 points for entering, 2 for winning (largest catch), along with the esteemed title of "Champion of Fishes"! There will also be a runner-up award of 1 point for the person who's fishing duo has the best combined score. (with tie's being decided by
