FIRST GARHEIM SLEDDING TOURNAMENT RESULTS!
It was a cold and cloudy morning at the site of the First Garheim Sledding Tournment which is located about 3.5 miles south of the famous Hot Springs. Visitors have lined the challenge route and where getting ready to see the racers fly by. The rookie tournament has four contestants. The racers gathered at the start of the course with an audience and Jhirian Eindrik.
Jhirian raised his hands and slowly moved his hands from full height to about half height, urging the crowd noise to decrease. When the volume level got to a low enough level he cleared his throat and bellowed out, “Welcome friends, family and other relations. It is ice to see you all here today. We have gathered here for the Frost annual Garheim Sledding Tournament. The course builders have laid out a beautiful course and recommend that you all walk the course after the race – I snow it will be worth your time. Let’s start the race and meet at the bottom to talk about the results.
The crowd began to move to their preferred places get ready for the start of the race. The race order was scheduled to be Lanseril Snowmantle, Kiel Vulfrak, Sverre and then Arnault Stormstrang – the order of the entries into the contest. As each of the racers went down the course it became clear that the true winner was the mountain itself. Every racer had at least five faults, but all completed the course in a reasonable time. It took work from all the judges to get to a final winner, but we can move only to hearing about the races.
Jhirian addressed the crowd, “Snow, wasn’t that a blast! The crowd responded with a roar.
“Our first racer was Lanseril Snowmantle. Watery going to do when he brings a polar bear drawn sled – let him race! Lanseril and his sled had early troubles, faulting on both the Bunny Hill and the Mogal Turn and then still being slowed by The Castle. After The Castle Lanseril successfully navigated the next seven challenges, until running into trouble with The Wall. Lanseril started again but was slowed by The Great Mouth. He finished with a total time of 35.4 seconds.”
“The second racer was Kiel Vulfrak. If I might coin a freeze, I think in theory he had the fastest sled in the race, but theory does not always win races. Just like Lanseril, Kiel and his sled had early troubles, faulting the Bunny Hill, the Mogal Turn and then The Castle. After The Castle Kiel successfully navigated the next two challenges, but was then hung up by The Bleak Cliffs. Kiel fought through the next two challenges before being slowed by The Great Drift Plains and Hang Time. He then begun to get back on track but was then rolled by the Corkscrew. He finished with a total time of 50.9 seconds.”
“The next racer was Sverre. Not sure if his sled is a cry for Alp or a stroke of genius. Sverre had some early struggles as well to Just like Kiel and Lanseril, faulting the Bunny Hill, the Mogal Turn and then The Castle. After The Castle Sverre successfully navigated the next two challenges, but was then hung up by both the The Bleak Cliffs and the Crescent. Sverre fought through the next challenge before being slowed by The Great Drift Plains. He then made it past the next two challenges only to be slowed by both Gar’s Arm and the Corkscrew. Sverre was able to navigate the the Great Mouth and the Glass House, but was then slowed up at the end of the race by The Tower. He finished with a total time of 42.9 seconds.”
“The final racer was Arnault Stormstrang. Arnault’s sled required the operator’s eyes to be white open coming down the slope. Arnault came out of the shot flying and did not run into the early trouble that his competitors had and was not slowed until he reached the The Castle. After The Castle Arnault successfully navigated the next two challenges, but like some many was hung up by both the The Bleak Cliffs. Arnault mastered the next three challenges before being slowed by Hang Time and The Wall. He then made it past the next four challenges only to be slowed by The Tower. He finished with a masterful total time of 28.8 seconds.”
“Icy we have a winner of the First Garheim Sledding Tournment and it is Arnault Stormstrang!”
