Hey all, you really have to check out this Facebook page. Seventeen years ago five million LEGO pieces were thrown into the sea when three shipping containers were lost. People have been finding pieces in Devon and Cornwall (yes!) ever since. There were even LEGO octopuses and dragons amongst them! Living in Cornwall myself, I feel a spot of beachcombing coming on....

Yes I read this on bbc news this morning (as well as a number of friends later sending me the link). The pieces look in a variety of conditions... so I wouldn't get your hopes up. If this had been a shipment of Star Wars lego, or Mr Golds... then I'm sure the beach would be crawling with prospectors. Looking at the pictures (and the year) I was trying to work out whats sets it might have been. Looks like I could have been these ones: brickset.com/sets/theme-Town/subtheme-Diversbrickset.com/sets/year-1997/theme-CastleI think the funniest thing is people around the world finding lego on their beach and thinking it might have come from the same container... rather than say a local kid losing his lego on that beach...

Oh yeah! I saw that the other day! Ironic that most of the pieces are aquatic themed right?
