Sooo... There's gunpowder? No. He just used the guns as crossbows without the string. Sorry for jumping onto this thread, but I wanted to help clear it up.

Sooooo, considering they are dwarves, how do they tell their men apart from their women? I mean if dwarves tell gender by type/grandness of beard, then no beards must make things really complicated. Or maybe they do just pop out of holes in the ground...*looks back at what i just said* yeah, i'll be runnin' for the woods if anyone wants me

Don't be silly, Gary. Everyone knows Loreesi can't read! That's a bit rich coming from a hairy, smelly Northman! Hey wait, aren't we meant to be allies?

Ayrlego AK_Brickster Down with everyone other than Garheim! Any Garhim babe could arm wrestle Prince Mark, Baron Locklear, and Field Marshall Von Falkenborg all at once without even breaking a sweat. We have no need of allies, just more foes to slaughter!

We have no need of allies, just more foes to slaughter! Come now, even if that was true the original assertion was that we Loreesi, the faction with the most culture and centres for learning, couldn't read... I just found that odd coming from a Garhim, when we all know the reason that the majority of Garhim warriors can count past 10 is that most have extra digits as a result of... shall we just say 'very close family ties...' Seriously though, we should move this to the trash talk thread...

I have just added Port Valiant's first economy entry to the Western Isles colonisation challenge, meaning we level up the settlement!

Local Challenge XXV - Influential Citizens and Cultures
One of the key strengths of our mighty faction is it's diversity of citizens and culture. With such great diversity comes a long tradition of celebrating our unique cultures in the form of arts and higher learning. Now is the time remind all that our martial prowess is matched by our scholars and artisans, and at the same time highlight some of our more influential citizens in this area. The Challenge: Part A: Influential Loreesi CitizensBuild an influential non-player character (NPC). The focus should be on civil positions, so while your character may have once been a great general or knight, now they should have a more administrative focus. Some examples are rich merchants, leading academics or artists and powerful administrators/leaders. You should provide a short back story describing your character and a good quality picture of the figure on a plain background (similar to the example below). The aim here is to flesh out some characters for future storyline updates and important positions, so in that regard you must be prepared to hand this NPC over to the faction for everyone to use. As a faction we will discuss the entries and nominate different entries for different positions, so if you have a major position in mind for your character, mention they aspire to it, but don't award it to them. Examples of some positions we will may want to fill will be (but are not limited to): Viceroy of the Colonies Grand Duke of Dalmanutha Royal Astronomer Grand Librarian Grand Emir of the Desert Tribes Mayor of Lors Vegos Part B: Institutions of Education and Art Build a scene showing a Loreesi institution of education or art. Examples include (but are not limited to), a library, university, observatory, art gallery, philosophers agora etc. Your MOC must highlight an aspect of one of our many cultures or traditions in learning and the arts. Rules: - You may submit up to 3 NPC entries for Part A. - You may only submit one entry for Part B. - For Part B A size restriction of a footprint between 20x20 and 40x40 applies. - For Part B your main character does not need to be present, but you may include your NPCs from Part A should you wish. Deadline: Part A: Midnight anywhere in the world, 16th April 2017. Part B: Midnight anywhere in the world, 30th April 2017. Rewards: - 2 points for each Part A entry (to a maximum of 3 points) - 3 points for a Part B entry - Entries for Part B will be judged by faction vote. - The winning entry for Part B will receive an extra 4 points, the runner up 2 points. - As a faction we will appoint some characters from Part A to positions of power/influence within Loreos. Example:
Name: Baroness Yvette de'Argent Age: 29 Occupation: Aristocrat/Naturalist (note: this is an example only, your story probably should be... well better! ) The Baron of Argent was killed in the struggle against Queen Galanir leaving his young wife, Yvette, custodian of his Baronetcy until their infant son comes of age. Yvette has taken to her duties well, running a well administrated and orderly estate. She does however, indulge in one quirk that some find rather odd for a member of the aristocracy - she collects frogs! While some whisper of Lenfel witchcraft, the real reason is that she has always been fascinated by the creatures, ever since she and her younger brother collected tadpoles in the stream near their childhood home. She pays handsomely for new specimens, which she diligently makes notes and sketches in great detail. All her work is then forwarded on to the University in Dalmanutha, where a great encyclopaedia of Loreesi fauna is being complied. She is the faction's leading expert on amphibians and is highly regarded in the academic community. Enjoy!

My entries for the XXV-Influential citizens and culture contest: *Please Read The Whole Thing Before You Make Comments*
Thank You Lord Maxim The PiousOccupation: Grand master spy catcher and head of the Loreesi inquisitionAge: 57History: Legend has it that Maxim was nursed from the blood of his enemies, leading to an unquenchable zealously for the destruction of all spies and traitors. He quickly climbed up the ranks of the Loreesi inquisition. (basically the Loreesi loyalty enforcement, which up until a few years ago was very small inefficient, and otherwise insignificant.) Maxim turned the Inquisition into a well oiled machine, which is almost totally shrouded in secrecy, as well as fear. Maxim is relentless, and he has a mind which is said to work like a well-oiled siege engine, fast, efficient, and most of all highly destructive.Sir Spires the Green (and the green companions)Occupation: Propaganda/ActingAge: 39History: He was badly wounded during the great war against Maladrake, and had to leave the army, as he could no longer fight, scarred by the horrors he had seen during the fighting. However, Spires felt guilt for being forced to leave the army before his service contract was up, so he derided to start an acting troop called the Green companions. These men go from village to village, putting on (Military based) shows, re-enacting historical battles, and famous events. The Loreesi officials took a great liking to him and his men, and began sponsoring him in his travels, making him one of the most popular sources of news and entertainment in the lend. The Red LadyOccupation: Governing Age: 25 History: The Red lady, (Helene Iron) took up sword and armor when she was still young and carried the standard of a now famous Loreesi Legion as the won a great victory, she became a local hero in some towns, and caught the eye of one Duke Redheart, who married her a few years later. The Duke now has become preoccupied with sailing around the coast, and Helene has accepted the task of Governing over the Duke's Lands. She is now famous for her armor, and is known by many names, including, Helene Redheart, Duchess Redheart, The Iron Duchess, and of course, The Red Lady.
