Hey Jordan,
I am somewhat crazy about army building. I LOVE large armies. I have large armies of many factions, it's a fault of mine. I also love large cavalries. My horse collection is up to around 80 now. Not too impressive, but nice enough.
My brother and I both collect the series minifigures as well. We collect the entire series'.

My favourite bit is not so much collecting the armies, but organising and customising them so they fit together with the same sort of troops having the same armour, weapons, etc..

If we are including minifigs, I've purchased multiples of every castle-useful CMF since series 2 or 3, I think. In sort of a semi-army builder. Not crazy like some people who have 300 of each faction, but I'm up to around 300-350 combined troops in my Garheim army 300-350! How big is the opposing force?

Not many. They've been thoroughly annihilated I prob have 50-75 each of Kingdoms Lions and Dragons, as well as smaller squads of other older factions.

Great topic!
I mostly have Castle, LoTR/the Hobbit and Star Wars. I rarely buy other themes, except when I like the minifigs that come in it.

I have five horses, max

I'm sure you will get more over time Some of these horses are over 15 years old, and when I went into my dark age, I just stored all of them away for safe keeping.

I've mostly been collecting Pirate/Imperial, Castle and some Star Wars mixed in with City figs for fun. Most of my figs though are Castle. I started to put them in Cases...but I've stopped counting after I got to my seventh case. :S

Matt do you use brick built cases or do you buy the authentic TLG cases? Or are these some cases from somewhere else. That would be a neat item for discussion, "what figs do you display or cherish the most?"

Star Wars, LOTR, Hobbit. Surprisingly, for a mainly castle builder, I have not bought a castle set in years.

I use scrapbook paper cases actually...they are like the TLG cases...well almost exactly the same to be honest. But I buy clear ones so I can see the figs inside and then when it comes time for doing a battle. I just pluck them, re-arm the troops as I see fit and plop them down. Afterwards I do the opposite and disarm them and then plop them back into the case where they stand to attention on a baseplate. I will have to take a picture some time.

I have not followed the series to know if anything new has released since mid-2012, but I collected the Star Wars: Ultimate Collector Series sets . . . despite having never seen one of the films in its entirety. A topic of note for another discussion where my card can be revoked, I am sure.
I also picked up the ships in numerous quantities from the Pirates of the Caribbean line.
And, of course, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit lines see a lot of me. Most of my favorite minifigure prints are from there.

When I do buy sets (mostly all my money has been blown on Bricklink parts before I can get anywhere near a shop), I tend to cherry pick sets I like from all themes rather than collect a single theme. Having said that, LOTR & Hobbit, modular buildings, Christmas Village, Monster Fighters and multiples of Pharaoh's Quest (needed those Loreos Colours!) have been big. I like some of the landmark buildings from the architecture range (Big Ben, Brandenburg gate, Leaning tower), but I don't really like the houses. Technic - I love European style lorries, tractors and earth movers. Star Wars - There are six ships from the original triology that I would like UCS models of. I have the Imperial Shuttle and I'm umming and erring on the new X-wing. One day I may have to recreate from parts the Falcon, a star destroyer (the new model coming out this year doesn't do it for me), Snow speeder and Tie Fighter. Although I'm hoping they will get re-released. I do NOT do Jar-Jar Binks Star Wars onwards (although some of those new ships are real pretty, so I have to Bricklink key parts to scratch that itch while maintaining my principles). Also love advanced models like the Sopwith Camel, space shuttle , VW camper and looking forward to the mini cooper. BTTF and Ghostbusters are also must haves, because I am the target demographic Looking forward to new Arctic and Pirates too. As far as collecting goes I collect colours: Lego Colours par Invicta Bricks, sur Flickr and then other things like minfigs (monofigs, Star Wars, Superheroes [that I've heard of - think Christopher Reeve and Spiderman and his amazing friends cartoons - I don't do modern angst films with 12+ ratings {except Iron Man!}] and Tolkien), flags (20 colours), frogs! (7 colours) and bicycles (8 colours). A by product of a castle addiction has also been an accidental shield collection, but then everybody here must have one of those

I don't really collect themes. I collect bricks that can be used for castles, and figures that can be used for castle.
My son collects SW, and each time he gets a new set, I consider if the figures could be used in a castle world.
Besides that, I have a shield fetish. I want all the shields ever produced and lots of each :-)
