My second freebuild for September, Hunting the Beast: A Secret Pact Suddenly, a shape leapt from the underbrush, into the clearing mere yards from Drogan. Men cried out, Drogan’s horse reared, and one of the rangers let loose a panicked shot that flew off into the forest. The beast was- not a beast. It was a small lion cub, which stared at them, playfully wagging its tail for a moment before scampering back off into the dense brush. The terror quickly ebbed away but it was several minutes before Drogan’s heart stopped racing. The men glanced around at one another sheepishly, several changed their trousers, and they all set off once again after the unknown beast. Later that night as they settled around the fire, all agreed that none would ever tell of this particular part of their adventure. Hunting the Beast: A Secret Pact by Snazzerton, on Flickr ----------------------- The beast is in the works, but there's no way it was going to be ready by the end of the month for my second free build. So I threw this together instead. Plus, I hid the lion in my previous build, barely visible in I Feel Its Eyes Upon Me and figured I might as well make use of it. Hopefully, the actual beast will make his appearance soon.

SOOOO LC16 Life in Stonewald will be to create a Vignette and/or larger build to illustrate our great capital. Winners will be featured prominently on our Faction Info Page, so this is an LC of lasting worth. MOCs should be representative in nature, not individual storyline bound. It will start September 28 and run for at least three weeks, but you can get started now, hint-hint! This is a great way to both increase your stature in Lenfald, contribute permanently to the faction, and hone your medieval building skills. Do we get an official announcement for LC16 with build sizes, dates, ... EDIT: sorry Mitah, been unexpectedly crazy-busy with change in jobs...see next entry - Gary

HEAR YE HEAR YE Announcing: LC 16 ~ Stonewald, Capital of Strength and Honor ~This is an important LC: Build something highlighting Lenfald’s great Capital as iconic and worthy of our honorable land. Points are elevated to encourage participation. Background: Our Capital is woefully underrepresented as Mitah Val Karem pointed out, and we need builds to represent it on the Faction Intro page, so don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to leave your mark on our Faction! We want quality builds here, so take your time and do it right; EDIT: the deadline isn’t until 9 November, midnight anywhere. Two categories are available, along with personal points for entering: 1. Small yet Noteworthy: Something distinct about Stonewald. Include with your build the size if not obvious, and some lore to be considered as part of our history. Entry points are given by footprint size (approximate): 8x8 = 2 personal points 16x16 = 3 pts 24x24 = 4 pts 30x30 = 5 pts Some ideas: a famous fountain, statue, marker or monument, the High Lord’s Seat of Lenfald (like a throne), tomb of a founding father, or some other interesting location which Lenfels would include in their lore. 2. Key Site in the Capital: Larger build (32x32 studs+ on up) of an important site in the city, worth 6 personal points for entering. Include with your build some lore to be considered as part of our history. Some ideas: Stonewald Castle, Town Hall, the State Gardens of Lenfald, a major inn or tavern, Lenfald State Library, a section of the city walls, Maze of Wonders, the High Lord’s Hall, Stonewald Bridge, Lenfald High Courts, a place of worship (please keep it non-denominational as per KC guidance), the docks, a noteworthy watchtower, or some other worthy location which Lenfels would be proud to show off. Rules: - I recommend keeping to Lenfald’s style, national characteristics and materials as per the faction intro, but this is just a guideline; be creative.
- Must be submitted by midnight on 31 October (any time zone)…however, if you are close to finishing but can’t make this time limit and your build is really good, PM me…
- There will be a “winner” in each category who will receive an additional 2 points for Small yet Noteworthy, 4 points for a Key Site (these are a LOT of points, so definitely worth it). They will be chosen by general Faction vote.
- The winners plus other builds deemed worthy will be included on the Faction Intro page to permanently represent our great faction.
- You may enter once per category and you will get points for both.
If you need some inspiration, spend a few minutes on the following FLICKR sites and you might get some ideas: 1000+ Best Places on EarthMonumentsPalaces, Castles, Towers and PagodasStately Homes, Palaces and CastlesReally appreciate max participation here my fellow Lenfels, the next GC is weeks away anyway. Good luck and great building everyone!

GIVE ME SOME IDEAS! I have updated the Lenfald Faction Intro (first post on this thread), please check it out and give me some feedback. I plan on keeping the photo format for the geography, it works well and I spent a lot of time on it. Q: Should I include photos of the Seasons, or is that a bit too much? ****Nomination Thread: Put your ideas/previous pertinent builds here!****What's Next for the Intro: 1. Triphian. Unless there are major objections, he's growing his beard back. We’ll go back to the same head Triphian had over on Classic Castle, as no one seemed to like new generic face with a smirk, not his character really. The KC has had nothing kind to say about that new look… 2. Citizens of Lenfald. I’m going to post a couple group pics of some Lenfel minifigs - Typical folk: farmer, logger, blacksmith, hunter (archer), maiden, merchant, craftsman (mason), scholar (alchemist), and a nobleman and his wife
- Warrior classes: knights, men-at-arms, Scout Snipers, Rangers, bounty hunters
Q: Any other minifigs to be included here? 3. Cities of Lenfald. Please look at Mitah’s map. We will eventually need builds for all the major cities here. If you have already done some in the past, either include them on the Nomination Thread or PM me with the links for them so I can include them. I have enough for Durrough, but not much else really ( hence our current LC for Stonewald). 4. Orders and Subcultures of Lenfald. Same as above. Really need some ideas here. I know that Scout Snipers and Rangers will be here, but what else? 5. Monuments of Lenfald. Same as above. I know of one Mitah Val Karem did and one that Disco86 did. If you have already built a monument and would like it included, either PM me or use the Nomination Thread (you should be seeing a pattern here...) 6. Should there be a list of (and if so, we will have a future LC where you are challenged to build them!) - “Wonders of Lenfald”?
- “Dangers of Lenfald”?
And one last thought, my fellow Lenfels... Silence is consent!

The fisrt page is looking great! Some suggestions: 2. Maybe including some of the main nobles and members of Lenfald. 6. Dangers and Wonders looks like a great idead. I think they would look good on the main page. Maybe a spot for the most recent LC winner's MOC (e.g. Mitah's build on LCXV), changing when a new LC winner comes out.

[...] .Silence is consent! Apart from everything else in the post (I'll be posting some monument pics when I'm done with one of my LC builds) I really like this policy - this should keep this thread from becoming bare and lifeless like the Loreesi deserts.

Silence is consent! Sorry Caelan. I have just been super busy with the contest I am in right now. The new pictures look great though good job. I agree with Guytsil. I will try to get something up but, its doubtful. Keep going everyone! For Great Lenfald.

GIVE ME SOME IDEAS! And one last thought, my fellow Lenfels... Silence is consent! Hi Caelan, Seasons: I think it might be a bit much, given the excellent photos that you have already found for the different cities/regions. 1. Beard. Bring back the beard! 2. This is a nice idea. Maybe for the military figs you could also show some siege equipment, as that's what we're famed for, and maybe some formations? We don't see many of the latter. I feel cheeky asking for that, though, as rendering gives me unlimited figs... 3. Cool. LCs XVII-XX are sorted 4. Order of Engineers (related to #2)? 5. Cool. 6. Yes! This would show that the world already 'exists' and we're roleplaying within it, rather than making it up as we go Excellent work so far - thank you for all the effort!

Hey guys, just so you know, (that way there's not two builds of the same thing), I am building a portion of the State Gardens of Lenfald. I'll hopefully have it done in a few days. Sir Caelan Munro: The front page looks great, BTW! Cheers, Joshua

I am nearly finished with a monument and don't know yet what to build for the key site category. I'm looking forward to the gardens

Okay, so I've been gone for a bit, busy with RL, but things over here are looking fantastic! That said, I do happen to have a few suggestions. First off is the opening paragraph. I think it could be better. Now, don't get me wrong, Sir Valiant did a marvelous job on it, but there are a few redundancies and it doesn't jump out and make me say Whoa! like I feel like it should. So, putting my money where my mouth is, I took Valiant's paragraph and tweaked it. Rewrite is below, personally I think its a bit more of an attention-getter, but please let me know what you think!
Honor.
Wisdom.
Valour.
These are the values that guide the lives of the citizens of Lenfald. More than mere words to the noble residents of this verdant land, these ideals embody the core beliefs of a noble people the like of which the rest of Roawia strives to emulate. If it is to exist in the vast lands of this world, here, more than anywhere, greatness lies. Men of action, women of unmatched beauty, scholars of unparalleled wisdom, extraordinary citizens living each day to their fullest with unequaled zest for life: heroes all. Truly the citizens of this majestic country lead lives that are more adventurous, more intriguing, more fulfilling, more real than the lives of any in all the kingdoms of the continent.
This however, is not all. Lying between the cold desolation of Garheim to the north, and the barren, wind-scarred deserts of Loreos to the south, far greater than any individual, far older and more sacred than any oath, is the beauteous land of Lenfald itself. Grandoise forests extending beyond the horizon and into the unknown, rivers that gleam brighter than forged silver, waterfalls that sparkle as if cut from the finest diamonds, ancient ruins filled with the unsolved mystery of a long and storied past, magnificent castles built of age-old wood and venerable stone, endless wind-touched plains that play home to the dancing sun in the day and the smiling stars at night: Lenfald is all of these things, and so very much more.
Serenity.
Purpose.
Adventure.
If these are what you seek, then there is nothing for you but glorious Lenfald. Lenfald of the Silver Waters. Lenfald of the Endless Horizon. Lenfald of the Ancient Forests. Lenfald of Adventure, of Fortune, Freedom, History and Fate. Where else could one hope to find a destiny so grand in scope?
And done. Aside from that, I like the future LC ideas for various important locations in Lenfald. As much as I like the selections for landscapes in the OP topic, I think that gradually replacing all pictures with lego renders would be ideal long-term. There's an idea- We could benefit from some Forced Perspective builds of Lenfalds landscape- perhaps looking down over a vast area of the land from a cliff or somewhat. Anyhow, I also think that having builds of and going into more detail about specific locations and the like would be beneficial as well. For example, I think a paragraph or two of Durrough with a few photographs would be awesome, and the same for other major cities or locations, natural wonders etc. Similar to what Loreos has in their OP. I'll be working this weekend, but I'm taking some group photos of my Lenfel troops if those might be helpful, I'll upload next wednesday/thursday (Emerald Wolves, and the Stone dragons- both seen at the LCC collab).

Fellow Lenfels:Faction Intro Page: Thank you everyone for your input, greatly appreciate it! If you check the first post, you will see that I have updated, after a few hours and many explicatives worth of work, ( curse you BB CODE!!!!) the following: - Intro re-written with a lot, but not all, of Lord Mercat ’s version. What was there was actually mostly my writing, but with Spencer’s tweaks it’s even better now.
- Picture of Triphian added, beard and all
- Citizens of Lenfald added, with pictures of example figs for each major class
- As per GyustSil ’s fantastic suggestion, pictures with deep links added of the latest LC winner (Mitah Val Karem), and I’ve added the latest GC winners as well. This will give prospective recruits a look at the kinds of builds done and how we reward our builders
-- Future LCs will help determine the Wonders and Dangers of Lenfald -- For Orders and Armies of Lenfald, I can only find the following: Mpoh’s Order of SîdhelvellonMitah’s Karemdhâron Armed ForcesMy Lenfel Scout Snipers- Would be really great if you pointed me to your order or army (yes, Lord Mercat, please do post your Emerald Wolves and Stone Dragons) then I’ll definitely take them.
LC16: Please enter if you can spare the time. Remember, even a vignette gets some points and may flesh out our capital. You have plenty of time, almost three more weeks. EDIT UPDATE - Global Storyline: Expect an update very soon, perhaps today!Keep up the builds everyone, really looking forward to seeing some of the great LC16 entries.
