Mythrog took a sip of his wine, put the cup down and turned his attention back to the large map spread on the table. After slaying the queen’s soldiers and declaring war, Mythrog, Endrol, and Carnox returned to the troll home city in the center of the Sinking Basin. Upon arrival Mythrog dispatched squads of men to the two outposts that had been taken over with orders to take them back and leave no survivors. Two days after he sent the trolls, word arrived that Fort Dragon Skull had been taken over. Fort Dragon Skull was a well stocked troll outpost near the edge of the Sinking Basin, while it was small, it was also highly defendable. Built on a small rocky plateau in the middle of a swamp lake, Dragon Skull had gotten it name twenty years earlier when Endrol had first found the plateau, he had discovered a small underwater cave. Inside was a large dragon skull in it, though Endrol couldn’t identify what species it was from.
When Mythrog had heard that it had been taken over he was outraged, and immediately gathered a large part of his army, sent scouts ahead and begin the march. They where a mile out when one of the scouts returned with bad news. Since Fort Dragon Skull was so hard to siege, the queen’s soldiers had brought a powerful wizard with them and he was still there for unknown reasons. Mythrog decided on a change in plans, and instead of making camp closer to the fortress, he had Endrol find a large dry spot nearby to make camp a mile from Fort Dragon Skull where they wouldn’t be noticed. Now while the troops sat around campfires, and sharpened their weapons, Mythrog and his commanding officers plotted ways to kill or draw the wizard away from the fortress.
It had been two days since they had made camp and now, without any ideas on what to do about the wizard, they where plotting how to siege and take back Dragons Skull. It wasn’t going to be that hard considering the fact that like all troll fortress, it had a secret passage.
“So here’s the plan, tonight we’re going to have the troops make rowboats with siege ladders in the bows and a hand-held battering ram. Tomorrow morning before dawn, Carnox your going to have most of your men hide behind anything you can find on the shore with the battering ram, and the rest of them board the row boats but stay at the shore. I’m going to take a platoon of Blood legion tomorrow through the secret passage. Endrol your going to take a troll war horn and climb the back side of the watch tower, as soon as you reach the top kill the queen’s archer, blow the horn, and then shoot as many queen’s soldiers as you can. Carnox, as soon as you hear the horn, attack and have the men in the boats row out to the enemy wall under cover fire, lots of it, we can make as many crossbow bolts as we want. Have the rest of the troops stay hidden. Four minutes after the horn blows I’ll led the platoon of Blood legion out of the passage, attack, and drive them towards the main gate. Thinking that there is not any trolls left on the mainland other then the archers, the queen’s soldiers will open the gates and lower the drawbridge to escape. As soon as they set foot on that drawbridge I want you to order the trolls in hiding to charge on the drawbridge. With it down it’ll be easy to finish the siege. And if the wiza….” Mythrog never got to finish his sentence, as a Blood legion scout burst in the tent. He was clearly out of breath.
“General Mythrog! I have an important message!”
“What is it?” He replied slightly annoyed at being interrupted.
“Sir, a large squad of reinforcements is coming to aid the queen’s soldiers at Fort Dragon Skull.”
“Hmm we can’t let that happen now can we?”
“Where are they? When will they arrive?” Endrol broke in.
“They will arrive two days from now. Tomorrow afternoon they should pass through Dead Tree pass.” The scout said pointing to a spot on the map.
Mythrog suddenly had a idea. “Carnox, I need a large platoon of Blood legion and Endrol, can you manage the army while I’m gone?”
“Can’t resist the urge to do an ambush can you? Yes I can manage it”
“Good, its time to show Galainir that that we mean business.”

GC7: STARTING THE SIEGE
Carnox stared down at the map on the table in front of him listening to the rain fall outside. Nine hours had passed since Mythrog and Endrol had left to stop the enemy reinforcements, and now it was almost midnight. A steady rain had started a few hours ago, and had turned into a downpour. He was still in the same tent that he Mythrog and Endrol had planed the siege from, having only left to get dinner and to have the sides rolled down to keep the rain out. He had spent the nine long hours plotting ways to get rid of the wizard. So far he come up with a dozen ways not to get rid of him. maybe we could… his thoughts were interrupted one of his commanding officers, Thran, entering the tent.
“Sir there is someone here to see you.” Carnox thought for a moment, and then nodded to the dripping wet officer.
“Bring him in.”
Thran nodded, turned and left the tent. He returned a moment later with two guards and a unarmed queens scout. Carnox looked in surprise at the scout.
“Whats he doing here?” He directed the question at Thran.
“I have decided to betray the queen do to recent discoveries. I came to see General Mythrog, to both get and give help. Where is he?”
“He is out hunting.” Carnox lied smoothly. “I’m Carnox captain of the Blood Legion, and I am here instead”
He pressed for more information. “So why do you want to betray the ‘queen’? What kind of help do you want, and what do you have to offer?”
“Two years ago I was framed for doing magic, and was outlawed from my village. I came down here, to the only place were outlaws are welcome. I wandered from city to city and eventually became a member of the queen’s army. Two weeks ago I learned that the queen had heard a rumor that one of the blacksmiths in my village was giving weapons to rebels in a nearby city. She had the entire village burned to the ground and everyone killed, including my brother and his family. As for help I know why the wizard is here.”
Carnox thought for a moment.
“I never got your name.”
“Gordon.” He extended his hand for Carnox to shake.
Carnox ignored it.
“What do you want in return for the information?”
“I want to live in peace on troll land were I’ll be safe until the conflict with Galainir is over.”
“I’m not the one to make that decision, Mythrog is. Now what is the information.”
“I will give you the information if you agree to put in a good word for me in front of Mythrog.”
“Fine.” Carnox replied, knowing he could always go back on his word if he had to.
Gordon cleared his throat.
“For starters Fort Dragon Skull is under the command of Sir Flork…..”
Not him again, Carnox thought, remembering the last time.
“…and he knows your here, there is also a large force of reinforcements arriving two days from now”
“What about the wizard.” Carnox pressed.
“The wizard, I don’t know his name, is here looking for a Moss-Squirrel he needs the feet for a spell, or something like that, and I found the trail of one earlier today.”
As soon as Carnox heard why the wizard was here, he had a plan.

The next morning Carnox put Mythrog’s original plan in to action, the only difference being he was leading the platoon of Blood Legion, and Thran was leading the rest of the army. As he jogged down the secret passage Carnox thought about what he would have to do. He quickly reached the hidden door that led to the main keep. Three minutes after arriving at the door he heard a horn in the distance. So far everything was going according to plan.

GC7: AMBUSH AT DEAD TREE PASS
Mythrog listened to the birds chirp in the tree above him. Mythrog, Endrol, one of his commanding officers who’s name he believed was Carlik, and the platoon of Blood Legion had arrived at the Dead Tree Pass roughly an hour ago. After running though the plan again they had hid. Endrol and two Blood Legion crossbowmen hid on the top of the left side of the pass, two Blood Legion crossbowmen hid on the other side, Carlik took fifteen men down in the pass and hid in one of the many slot-canyons, and Mythrog took the rest of the platoon, and hid in the forest in front of the pass. Mythrog had taken his mount, a rare dark-brown great northern gray wolf,(called war wolves by trolls) and hid behind a large boulder with a Blood Legion troop. If all went according to the plan the queen’s soldiers would stupidly walk right in to the trap. As he waited for the dragons to arrive, Mythrog’s thoughts wandered. As soon as I get back I’ll begin the siege.
Even as he thought it, Mythrog realized that something was wrong. Why did the queen’s soldiers attack and take over Fort Dragon Skull? It should have been small and unimportant in the eyes of Galainir and her officials. Why did they use a wizard? The only logical answer is that they wanted to be sure they would win. But why? There wasn’t anything important about to happen there. Maybe… Mythrog thoughts were interrupted by a familiar bird call. Endrol’s signal that the queen’s soldiers were almost there. Five seconds later Endrol blew the troll war horn. As soon as he heard it Mythrog leapt on to his war wolf and charged from behind the rock, followed by his half of the platoon of Blood Legion, heading right for the commander at the center of the queen’s soldiers. Endrol and the Blood Legion archers began to rain arrows and bolts down on the queen’s soldiers. Carlik and his half of the platoon of Blood Legion burst from their hiding spot inside the pass and charged the queen’s soldiers.
Mythrog smashed into the front of the column of soldiers with devastating effect. Two soldiers lay dead before they knew what hit them. Mythrog brought one of his axes down on a hapless archer, while swatting another aside with his other axe. He heard the clash of weapons as his Blood Legion troops smashed into the front line of dragons, and Carlik and his Blood Legion troops smashed into the back line of dragons. Mythrog reached the leader, who raised his shield, and whipped his left axe around, hitting the mans’ shield hard enough to smash it to pieces and send him flying off his horse and across the canyon. Mythrog leapt off his mount and charged after the fallen commander. He knocked two helpless soldiers aside, and threw one of his axes. It hit the commander in the chest, killing him instantly. As Mythrog cut through the queen’s soldiers to get his axe, he saw a high ranking queen’s scout dash over to the dead commander and take a scroll out of the commander’s pocket. Putting it in one of his own, he set an arrow to his bowstring and fired, killing a troll on Carlik’s side. He escaped through the breach and ran back down the canyon with two other queen’s soldiers who managed to follow before the Blood Legion closed the gap. Two of them give chase. Mythrog stopped by the dead commander long enough to pull his axe free, and then dashed after the queen’s scout. He cleared the battle field and begin flat-out running. He bypassed the two Blood Legion troops and quickly caught up with one of the queen’s soldiers, and relieved him of his head without even slowing down. Mythrog overtook the other one and killed him too, only picking up speed. He saw the queen’s scout suddenly turn and run into one of the slot-canyons. Mythrog, heedless of the danger, plunged in after him.
