I think it is part of the KCs job to accept the local contests, and maybe even keep track of the total points given in the contests in each faction.
BTW: In the very beginning of LCC, Loreos actually had some contests with very low entrance points, since the task was just to build a knight for a joust.
But as Disco, I don't really care about points, I like LoR anyway.

The reason we have so many points on offer is because we have missed quite a few LC opportunities over the last few months, especially from the time that Mark began to tie up his duties until the time when Matt and I were appointed. This LC makes up for all that, and a rather large period of member inactivity. I just wanted to point out that Loreos is second only to Garheim in LC opportunities, so you guys can't have missed out on THAT many LC opportunities (besides, two of Garheim's LCs have been our annual fishing tournament, which is only worth a couple of points.) This is definitely something that we can discuss among the KC to try to even things out a bit, Sir Valiant.

Hey, no worries guys! As I stated above I am not consumed with points and such. I just was something that stood out to me and thought I would bring it up! Great to see your thoughts on this. And once again, I really appreciate the LoR for the fun and relationships of a LEGO online community! Sir Valiant~

AK_Brickster I understand what you're saying. Seriously, though, a few of our last LCs have had very few points available, and like I said this IS a one-off event for us. There probably won't be another LC for a little while, anyway. Most of us aren't bothered about the points, though; Matt, who came up with the idea for this LC, only thought about them afterwards - it wasn't done for points.

Well, whatever the points are, I think that this LC is a good idea, as a way to advance the Global storyline while we wait for the next GC.

Schmidt made it known that thoughts about the GCVII should be posted here. So I cut and paste my one post to this place!
Some of my thoughts: I think that this GC was great. The entries were all well built models and it was very hard for me to choose between what I liked the best. Loreos has really stepped up its game especially with the editions of expert builders like James and Gideon. Way to go guys! I think that all the factions did well although sometimes it seemed that the voting didn't show it that way. I would love to know how often factions voted for themselves now that we did a poll version of voting. It would be an interesting stat. I had (previously) really enjoyed reading all the statistics about the voting who voted for who, and so forth. It was a fun part of the GCVII results.
One other thing I found interesting was this: 68 people voted in the Vignette Category 66 people voted in the Restricted Category 63 people voted in the Unrestricted Category
Seems odd why there would be such an influx between categories. I mean a whole 5 votes were 'left out' from the Unres. which could have easily swayed the change in winners. Perhaps some people forgot to vote for the others? Or maybe non-merlin's beard members voted for certain categories not realizing that there were others.
Once again great work to all the finalists and everyone who entered the Global Challenge from the beginning. There were tons of quality builds and it really brought out the best MOCs from many builders. As for the Loreos sweep, good for them, they haven't won a GC in a while, and it was also nice to see different people win.

Unfortunately, the new polling system does not allow us to track who votes for who. We can only generate a list of who voted, not who they voted for.
The loss of detailed stats is a bummer, I agree.

Darn your right! Reading the stats was a highlight for me. I feel like the new poll was good though. It took the pressure of having to keep track of votes off of the KC.

Hey guys, I think we should restart the old Inter-Faction Trash Talk Jibber-Jabber Thread.

I was browsing around on Eurobricks and saw that on GoH they have an "Age of Mitgardia" mini-challenge for the Mitgardia that is in fact somewhat similar to the guilds. I thought it would be cool if we could institute something like that. How it works is there are 4 main categories, with a few sub-categories to those. You have to do a certain number of MOCs for each sub-category, and then once you've finished all the sub-categories in a main category, you get a special title. Of course the builds are worth points. Have a look at it so we could think about doing something like this, as I think ti would be really fun and a good way to get points. Here is the link to the thread: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87325

That is an interesting idea. I don't want to copy exactly whatever GoH is doing, but perhaps something like this can be incorporated into the existing guild or brawl system.

I was browsing Flickr for some pictures for inspiration, and from what I've seen hardly anyone uses appropriate tags or descriptions for their photos.
Maybe we could develop or formalise a template for use in descriptions for promoting LoR and making it easier to find other MOCs pertaining to the Lands of Roawia.
I vaguely remember there was some discussion some time ago about adding a link to the description - maybe the KC or the community could find a common text or a template for everyone to use. I was thinking of something like this (example for Flickr):
[BUILD/MOC NAME]
[BUILD DESCRIPTION OR STORY] -- This build is an entry for the Global Challenge GC VII "<i>The Rebellion strikes back</i>" from the <a href="http://www.merlins-beard.com/board/8/lands-roawia">"Lands of Roawia"</a>. Preview:
As tags/labels I would recommend at least: Lego, MOC, Lands of Roawia, Lenfald, LoR, LCC, Castle

Mitah Val Karem For my LoR MOCs I generally use LEGO, MOC, Castle, Lands of Roawia, Loreos, (Build name), Erathor Pridenar. A 'form' entry would be good, I agree.

Good idea. I will try to standardize that for my MOCs.For tags I usually do the things you say plus whatever, items/landscapes objects are involved in the plot.

How cool would it be if we could animate some of Global, or even local, challenge storylines with stopmotions?!?!? It would really bring the characters to life!
