I have a suggestion/question. What do you guys think about videos/slideshows as entries to LCs and GCs or even just counting as a freebuild? I tend to make a video here and there to help bring a MOC to life. (Particularly big battles with lots going on) Since these things are a good amount of work I don't think it would be "cheatish" or unfair. What do you guys think? I think for a freebuild it would definitely be reasonable, but for a contest entry I don't think it should be allowed. My reason for this is that I do not think you can really compare a video to a still shot of an MOC in a way that would allow it to be fairly judged. Better to keep things in the same format, so that the judging/voting process remains simple and uncomplicated.

I think as long as the video is all pics of the same MOC (ie, no changes to fig posing, etc), then it's basically equivalent to a fancy slideshow, which seems like it should be allowed, since we don't really limit how many pictures you can show of your MOC.
I'll check with the KC though.

Could we add some specific LoR icons to the mini profile in the left side of a post?
The global and local challenge winners could have special achievement icons, and the same with the guilds. Everyone could also have a faction icon to show what faction they belongs to. There could also be special Brawl status icons.
I can see that type of icons is possible over a eurobricks, is it possible here too?

I'll look into it. Good idea!
edit: looks like it could be pretty easy to do. I've made a forum group for each faction (Bentoft, I added you as an example already). If someone wants to make some icons, feel free to give it a shot!

Those banners look beautiful, Mitah. No disrespect meant to RBC, his are cool too. I too am a fan of pastel colors, so I liked the colors on the first group better but the majority has spoken. The addition of the dots on the side really adds a ton IMO. Looking forward to seeing more!

I was thinking something like this plugin: www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/72

On my score page, I use these icon for global and local contest winners: I guess the icons generally should follow the design of the signature banners. BTW: have Mitah been asked to complete his series of banners?

Here are some things that I have been thinking about recently and also that has urged some discussion from the Loreos LC16. Feel free to share your thoughts anyone!
As stated in the Loreos thread by Bentoft it seems that A Ton of points can be earned in their most recent Local Contest. The contest itself is huge, almost as big as a GC. Now, Betoft also brings up a point about the number of personal points each person can earn by having Local contests. Now, if Loreos is fine by having this LC and then waiting three months, Good for them. As long as each of the factions have an equal opportunity to participate in contests and so forth the participants of the LoR will feel that each faction has equal value.
The original rules for Local Contest participation and points earning are found HERE. But I decided to cut and paste it [1]: Each faction has 4 entry points (per entrant) and 12 victory points available for distribution across 1-4 local challenges each month. Distribution should mirror the size of the challenge. The following contest types are available (all challenges must have a 1:3 entry to victory point ratio):
SMALL challenge: 1 point for entering, 3 points for the winner. MEDIUM challenge: 2 points for entering, 6 points for the winner. LARGE challenge: 3 points for entering, 9 points for the winner. HUGE challenge: 4 points for entering, 12 points for the winner.
This makes the following combinations possible for each month: - 1 huge (4/12) - 1 large + 1 small (3/9 + 1/3) - 2 medium (2/6 + 2/6) - 1 medium + 2 small (2/6 + 1/3 + 1/3) - 4 small (1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3)
My question would be: Has this rule changed and if it has can the other factions be brought up to speed in Local Challenges?
I don't want to be taking away anyone's fun, I like the idea of gaining lots of points for building. But it should be fair for everyone. For us Lenfels, we have only had two Local contests this year...
One more thing:
How, if at all possible can the Local Contest be evened out amongst factions? Right now we sit at:
Garheim: 17 Local Contests Loreos: 16 Local Contests Lenfald: 13 Local Contests Outlaws: 12 Local Contests
As we sit, the guys up north and the desert dwellers, have had way more opportunities to gain personal points and also have the fun of building for different contests. Is there anyway that this can be evened? Perhaps Lenfald and Outlaws could have one large contest so as to 'catch up' in personal points? Just some thoughts.....
Now, the main reason I ask this is not because I love to have lots of personal points! They are a fun part of the game but in reality I joined LoR to sharpen my writing skills and also have a good time building, seeing other peoples builds, learning new techniques and being a part of a great community! I am in no way criticizing anyone but rather bringing some thoughts to your attention that have been circulating in my mind the past few weeks. Thanks for you time!

Our LC is in fact a rather special one, since it deals with the capital. The reason we have so many points on offer is because we have missed quite a few LC opportunities over the last few months, especially from the time that Mark began to tie up his duties until the time when Matt and I were appointed. This LC makes up for all that, and a rather large period of member inactivity.

Well Valiant long time ago when I joined LCC I was also wondering about their LC-points when comparing them to the rules. But it will always be the same, Loreos always have totally overpointed LCs. I dont really care about that anymore, because it is none of my business... let them do what they want. We just need to remember, that over a 100 points in Loreos are not worth it EDIT: This other factions behaviour will not make me host more LCs or to give (illegaly) more points for them. If people want to earn a lot of points besides the GC, I recommend the Guilds
