Ladies and Gentlemen of Roawia, it is time to choose the winning entry to the Noble Houses of Roawia challenge.
The challenge was to develop one of the noble houses of your faction through builds and story. Entries should be judged on interestingness and cohesiveness overall of builds and backstory.
1. ludzik 's Sir Kejtar of Wiezyca
Sir Kejtars family hails from the region Kaszebe. They are one of the older families in the area if not the oldest. Sir Kejtars father was Lord Janus. His father was Lord Jdozuf. While I could go on and keep naming the members of the family from the sword side (as in paternal), suffice it to say, the lineage goes on very far back until it reaches sir Kasheub whose name is similar to that of a region. Now here comes the poultry question - who was first - sir Kasheub or Kaszebe, but that is a debate for a different occasion.
You already know sir Kejtar. He is the head of the family. He is a loyal Lenfel though at times he feels like there is too much internal and external politics going on. Being a realist he realizes that it's mainly related to wealth and power. He has been heard saying that he would give up a big chunk of his family's wealth for peace. Unfortunately world doesn't work that way and Lady Olik (to his immediate left - viewers right) keeps reminding him of that. She is the pragmatist in the group. She looks at the future but keeps both of her feet grounded as she looks at the current year and the year ahead of her. She helps the farmers plan their harvests and keeps an eye on the weather to help manage the crops. Both of them believe in free Lenfald and are tired of the meddling attempts by the outsiders.
Sir Kejtar's family has always been surrounded by mysteries. One of them seems to be their wealth. His keep is modestly and tastefully outfitted. He carries no debts and his guards and troops are well paid. The lands do not have any major natural resources which would contribute to his fortune, yet he never seems to lack funds. Some say that parts of the submerged old stronghold (topic for another tale) are still accessible through secret tunnels even though they are underwater. They claim that certain passages were sealed off and vast treasures are hidden within. Treasures are supposed to have been gathered by Lord Jozuf during the great war. While the story sounds far fetched - it would explain sir Kejtar's financial stability.
Getting back to sir Kejtar himself, it is interesting to point out that even though he hold the title of the Lord, he rarely ever uses it. Even the usage of the titular Sir makes him uncomfortable as he prefers to be considered to be a regular knight instead. He has been known to mingle with the peasants and at the time of need (mostly harvest) to work the fields with them. He is very respected by his people and they would follow him to the ends of the world as he does not expect anything from anyone that he is not willing to do himself.
Next to Lady Olik you can find cousin Jules. She is a quiet one and often underestimated by her enemies. Her young age is stands in direct contrast to her wisdom though. When she speaks one feels as though they are speaking to one of the family elders. She does lack the practical experience though which sometimes shows in her decisions. Sir Kejtar nourishes her growth and gives her plenty leeway in the decisions she makes but keeps a careful eye so that she doesn't get herself into too much trouble. Things are slightly harder now since she is the leader of the scouts and is often far away from the family keep. When she comes back, the strain of the distant missions can be seen taking toll on her.
While she has no political aspirations, opinions or thoughts she is fully dedicated to sir Kejtar. She is his stern supporter in all decisions, almost to a fault. This makes it hard at times for sir Kejtar to use her as a sounding board as she rarely offers a discerning opinion.
Next one in line is Ke'JRu. He is the family mystery - half elf, half human. He shares with sir Kejtar a great uncle. That makes him a very distant cousin but in elven eyes, no matter how distant is still a cousin. He came to Lord Janus as a young lad to be introduced. He first met sir Kejtar then. After a brief stay, he disappeared for nearly 15 years. Common belief is that he went back to the elf clans to continue his education. He is very tight lipped about his time away from the keep but it is clear that he has elven education.
Then there is sir Dowgierd - grey haired, grizzled old warrior. In public he is considered to be a loose cannon and a blowhard. He boasts about anything and everything. The stories he tells keep changing and he drinks a bit too much. That is probably why he never been considered a successor to Lord Janus (traditionally in the region the title transfers first amongst the brothers before going to the sons). On the battlefield though he has proven himself time and time again. He is a cunning strategist though his skill ends at winning a battle since he has never been a big picture type of a guy. He hated Chartress since day one and to this day his feelings didn't change. He never showed any romantic interests in life and the stories circulate about an old injury that has made him unable to lie with a woman. Only Lady Zofka knows the true story of his life...... when sir Dowgierd was a young lad, he fell in love with a peasant girl. It was a different time - his feelings were ridiculed and laughed at. He stayed true to them though, but the day before he was to propose to the young lass, raiders attacked the village - one house to be precise and they killed one villager only - young Lusia. He hunted down the raiders and killed every last one of them but never learned the truth as to who ordered the raid. Since that day he became the man he is today - grizzled old warrior that is a loose cannon and a blowhard in public.
Lady Zofka - picture an old maiden that seems to regret most of her personal life but is proud of her family life. She has dedicated herself to her family. She keeps up the family chronicle. She is the family healer. She cared for sir Kejtar when his mother died while he was young. She looked after the family finances and obligations before sir Kejtar married Lady Olik. She is one of his trusted advisers and she is very proud of her role. Her biggest regret though is not pursuing any of the knights that courted her in her youth. Even now, one can see her beauty. She refuses to get involved though as she fears that whoever courts her now might be after an in with the family rather then after her.
As she has transitioned from a very active role in the family to the advisory one, she has started pursuing some of her old interests in science and history. She is convinced that in the local mountains there are ore veins that could be mined for a great profit. Interestingly enough she does not need the funds from the potential endevour - she considers proving her theory more of a validation of her knowledge and smarts.
Sir Kejtar's family has always considered everyone near them very dear and close to them.
The dashing young red head is Tomcin. He is Jules' second in command. He was orphaned as a kid and taken in by sir Janus for upbringing at the keep. While the old master of the guard acted as his foster father he studied under the old same teachers as sir Kejtar did. He did not spend as much time in class as sir Kejtar did though. He never studied foreign languages and his encounter with history was significantly shallower.
Next to him stands the old master of the guard. His name is Zbigniu. Noone knows his age or lineage. He is almost a fixture at the keep and the running joke is that he will outlast everyone there and serve many more generations as the master of the guard.
Tercia is lady Olik's handmaiden. She is a simple girl - daughter to a minor noble from the neighbouring land. Her parents asked lady Olik to take her in as the fighting in their area made her future uncertain.
The other ginger in the group is Remku. He is the keeper of the house armorer. He studied the art of blade and armor making in Garheim and Loreos. He is suspected even to have spent time amongst the dwarves but he will neither confirm nor deny that. At first glance he looks frail and skinny but as always in life - looks can be deceiving - two harvests ago he took part in bladd making competition where he swung his hammer for two turns of the sun with only brief brakes for mead. He won as he was the last armorer standing. To this day he has all the blades he made there proudly displayed in his shop.
Next man in the group is a recent addition to sir Kejtars forces. His name is Miklos though he most often goes by Hammer. One would think that his favourite weapon is a hammer but that couldnt be further from the truth. In reality this shows his sick sense of humour as he despises hammer ever since he lost one of his toes when he dropped a hammer on his foot as a small kid. He did that as he was trying to learn the carpentry trade from his father. He wasnt the best in though he was able to hold his own and ran his fathers shop while he was alive. After his fathers passing he took up arms and trained himself with a variety of weapons and joined sir Kejtars forces.
The last man in the group is old Edmund. He follows sir Kejtar like a shadow (at times to sir Kejtars annoyance). He was Lord Janus' captain of the guard for a while and gave up that role only to become sir Kejtars first arms instructor. After he taught him all he knew, he became sir Kejtars bodyguard and while sir Kejtar is against the idea of needing a bodyguard he acknowledges that on more then one occasion Edmund was of help. Old Edmund does not hold any titles, refused to be knighted, refused the gift of lands and wealth as he considers himself to be an old soldier who serves a noble (in the full meaning of that word) family. His wish in life is to be able to die in battle with a sword stained by the blood od his enemies in his hand.
2. Mitah Val Karem 's House Stonmer
Lord and Lady Stonmer
The current rulers of House Stonmer are Lord Iben Stonmer and Lady Tamira Val Stonmer.
History
House Stonmer is one of the younger houses of Roawia.
The Lords of Stonmer moved their estate from Loreos to Lenfald only a few generations ago. While their loyalty to Lenfald is not in question, they still keep with the traditions of their former home province: their house colours are read and gold their emblem is the Loreesi gilded falcon.
Their current seat is at Stonmer Manor, in Northern Lenfald only a few miles from the border to Garheim. The Lords of Stonmer only rule over 4 villages and their small estate, but trade with Garheim made them relatively rich and important nonetheless: the regions is rich in fish and is mostly forested, with wood being their major export products.
Relations & Politics
The Stonmer's were always skilful diplomats and are related to many of the larger houses of Lenfald through marriage. Their unique situation of having ties to their relatives in Loreos and Lenfald and having good relations with their trading partners in Garheim made them much sought-after envoys and mediators in the conflicts between the provinces.

3. Sir Daren 's The Family Carmoer
Category: Minifigs
The Family Carmoer by Clyde Mooney, on Flickr
History and Rulers:
The family line of Carmoer is a long and old one, reaching back to before Lenfald was a province, and was one of the first families to adopt the dragon insignia. The estate is not large nor overly wealthy, and is mostly owned and ruled by Lord Gareth, pictured center along with his wife, Lady Annelia. Their nephew and intended heir is Sir Daren, son of Gareth's brother Lord Darek. Next to Daren is his sister, Deidre, and his mother, Lady Katherine. Also pictured is Gareth's sister Lady Eloise along with her husband, the honorable Paxton of Durrough who is one of Gareth's main administrators of his estate. Also pictured is Horace, the son of Gareth's cousin, who has always been close to the family.
Location:
Lord Gareth and Lady Annelia live at Carmoer Castle, an ancient stone fortress near Durrough whose foundations were originally of Moroastrian creation in ancient times, and the stronghold has belonged to the family in all known records. Paxton and Lady Eloise live in one of the castle rooms, and Daren has his own room, having lived much of his life at the castle. Lord Darek and Lady Katherine, Daren's parents, live at one of the manor houses and a small holding of land that is part of the greater estate. Carmoer family is an example of one of the not-so-powerful feudal Lenfald lords. Lord Gareth maintains a handful of footmen to defend his castle and patrol his lands. His military force seems meager when visited by his nephew's Swords of Daren mercenary unit.
Politics and Economy:
Lord Gareth has managed his estates well, and does not hurt for funding, but puts much of his wealth back into the land and the livelihoods of the villages and peasants who live there. Gareth is well liked by both his vassals and his neighbors. Rarely getting involved in Lenfal politics, he usually supports Grand Duke Cartney's initiatives and plans, both from personal agreement and the geographical proximity of the two. He is not too interested in war, but is quick to support the war effort through the grains and bountiful fruits grown on his estate, though not as much through arms or manpower. The Carmoer estate includes an extensive section of forest, and roving bandit groups that have organized since Queen Galainir's fall have required Gareth to begin recruiting some rangers to help patrol this part of his lands. While not a major military source, bowyers and fletchers living on Carmoer lands are known to produce exquisite and strong bows and are major arrow producers. For this reason, local archery tournaments are held frequently, and even several larger tournaments have been hosted by Lord Gareth and his predecessors.
4. Kingdomviewbricks 's House Strong
The House of Strong is an ancient and powerful family of the Dragonscale Mountain region of Lenfald. They have held the Grand Duchy of Stoneborough since the city was founded by Vyctor Strong, from whom the current rulers trace their decent.
The wealth of the house is founded on the deposits of iron and other minerals found in the area, as well as the timber of the mountain forests. House Strong trades metal for grain and other foodstuffs from southern Lenfald, as the region is not well suited to agriculture. Stoneborough is also known for its influencal banking interests.
The current lord of the House of Strong is Grand Duke Eberhard Strong, a young and ambitious ruler who inherited the position after his father was slain by soldiers of Queen Galanir during her reign. Eberhard led the campaign to retake Stoneborough, and killed Galanir's captain in single combat.
The family is not hostile to the United Kingdom of Roawia, but tends to be suspicious of the motivations of the king and other faction leaders, particularly the Loreesi. They are generally hostile toward the Outlaws, feelings aggravated by recent history. House Strong throughly supported Lenfel independence and prefers an isolationist outlook.
From left to right:
House Strong soldiers; Lady Irina Strong and her husband Niklaus, member of a powerful Stoneborough banking family; Grand Duke Eberhard Strong, the current house ruler; his wife Lady Adelheid, an avid huntress; a House Strong retainer; Dame Cathrin, the widowed mother of Eberhard and Irina.
House Strong's seat of power is their citadel built on the rocky heights above the walled city of Stoneborough. The Strong Lords rule from their ancient wooden hall, said to have been built by Vyctor Strong himself. Now though it is surrounded by high stone walls and a second, modern keep has been constructed on the shelf above. Grand Duke Eberhard Strong has recently completed a building project to strengthen the walls of city and castle, making the mountain fastness nearly impregnable.
The challenge was to develop one of the noble houses of your faction through builds and story. Entries should be judged on interestingness and cohesiveness overall of builds and backstory.
