A bit late, and semi-good pic. Will replace with a better one tomorrow. Left: Tormund Devilsnare Area: Kregand's Crater Abilities: Lure: 3 Skill: 2 Luck: 1 Tormund Devilsnare of The Silent Hunters is a man to be feared. Single-handedly clearing the current Silent Hunters' fortress area of wildlife such as bears, he aims to battle the toughest and biggest creatures. Hearing of a mysterious water-monster in Kregand's Crater, he decides to go investigate it (or even catch it) during the annual Garheim Fishing Tourney.Right: Gregar Askildson Area: The Howling Seas Abilities: Lure: 2 Skill: 2 Luck: 2 Gregar Askildson, Tormund's brother, is also among the ranks of The Silent Hunters. However, where his brother is a bear-wrangler and a shark racer, Gregar's talents lie more among politics, and was only dragged into this competition by his brother for a "friendly" competition. However, to distance himself from his brother, he chose another place to fish, unaware of the dangers of this place. Will probably replace with a better pic: Garheim Fishing Tourney Entry.

Sorry I missed the deadline. Lots going on in real life and Lego has been an afterthought since BrickCon, unfortunately I'm sure that Excalibur will do a great job once again with the write-up. I'm looking forward to it!

5TH ANNUAL FISHING TOURNAMENT RESULTS!
Over the last 90 minutes a thick fog rolled in from the Lake hiding all of the stars from view outside the great hall of Mikithdar – it was the kind of night that locals and visitors alike had to struggle to see anyone or anything more than 10 feet away from them. The two guards stood outside focusing extra hard on sensing anyone approaching the great hall. Jhirian Eindrik was inside preparing the preside over the fifth annual fishing tournament. This was the second consecutive year with a smaller crowd – he would have to looking the cause before next year’s tournament. Only four fish were caught this year - a historic low.
As was his custom, without introduction and without ceremony Jhirian raised his hands urging the crowd noise to decrease. When the volume level got to a low enough level he bellowed out, “Welcome friends, family and other relations. Today, we have gathered here for the fifth annual Garheim Fishing tournament. This is a competition not only between the residents of Garheim, but with Mother Nature herself. I want to say a hearty congratulations to all who took part. You all did not come here to hear me speak, but to hear some great fishing tales. So with that in mind let’s hear the first tale. First up is our lone fisherman from Lake Mikithdar – Ageirr tell us about your catch.”
The young man stepped forward, cleared his throat and said in a strong voice – “Much to my reellief for the fifth year in a row I pulled a nice fish out of the Lake. I just fish I had more time to talk to you all about what I hope will prove to offishally be the largest fish. I hooked a 3-footer.” With that he stepped back into the crowd snickering about the puns he had dropped.
“Thank you Ageirr a great start to our evening, next is our lone angler from the Jharton Bay - Jake” said Jhirian.
“My day was swimming along nicely. The area seemed very familiar and I thought I cod live in this area – but I am sardinely thinking that is crazy. Perhaps I should spend more time fishing solo, because I was able to pull a 3-foot tuna out of the bay. Easily as large a Ageirr’s! Perhaps that will make me the winner.” bellowed out Jake.
“Careful what you fish for my young deck-hand,” said Arnault Stormstrang
Wanting to keep things moving Jhirian said “Next we can move to the Howling Seas. This year we have two fishermen in that area. Bison Njordson and Gregar Askildson. Bison why don’t you tell us about your experience.”
A bearded fisherman wearing a helmet with two horns steps forward, he says in a deep and formal voice, “While the Wyvern and I were honored to be part of this competition, the lady and I did have a large shark on the line, but after a mighty battle either the shark managed to break the line and escape, or he was squidnapped. - Gregar” said Bison as he motioned to a person to his left.
As Gregar stepped forward, it was obvious that he had been celebrating in the great hall for some time tonight. He cleared his throat and said “You are right Bison, it takes a fisherman with skill to be able to pull a prize fish out of the Howling Seas this time of year. Luckily I am that opportunaist and I too brought home a 3-foot tuna.”
“That only leaves two fishing locations to go – let’s move to the location that is dolphinitely the hardest, Kregand’s Crater. Let’s start with Arnault Stormstrang” said Jhirian
Arnault stepped forward and said “I spent most of the spring and summer building my new ship the The Stormie Lady IV. I was out in the crater and noticed that something was spooking the fish, I had feelings and felt movement and I know that big one was around but in the end, we did not catch anything of note.”
Next was Tormund Devilsnare, a young man full of confidence even though he looked more like a woodsman than a fisherman. “I too sensed the creature we were all hunting and that he was hunting us as well. While I did not bring him in this year, I know that I will next year.”
Angstrom stepped forward wearing tattered clothing and still wearing his hood inside hall and said “I did a little more than sense this creature. For a few minutes I did have the big one on my line. It was pulling my boat around the crater. In the end it surfaced. The creature was multiple shades of green and marvel to see. At that point it jumped out of the water, doing a back roll right on to my boat. My boat went straight to the bottom and I was lucking to not go down with it.”
“I believe that that brings us to our final fisherman and the only dwarf in the contest – Fornmir Sharkbait – who is just back from Skraborg Bay. How about to tell everyone about your catch in this new location for the tournament.” said Jhirian.
A dwarf without a hair on the top of head but a full beard carefully trimmed stepped forward and he said “Today is a proud day for the Silverore Clan. I had one of the larger beasts on my line. After reeling him in for just under an hour my pole cracked. Not trying to fish for compliment, but I know if the pole had not been of dwarven manufacture, I would have lost him but even with a cracked pole I was able to pull in a 4-foot bluefish”
Jhirian stepped forward and said “With that being our final tale I want to remind you that you should all be proud of the hard work that each of you put forward regardless of if you came home with a fish. We do however have an interesting result – our first dwarven winner Fornmir Silverore, this year’s Champion of the Fishes!”

Great write-up, Excalibur! I fish I'd been able to get an entry turned in. I promise that I will next year, and I have an idea for a winter challenge that I'll spin your way reely soon.

Looks like I should have gone for the Howling Seas. Thanks for the write up, another year empty-handed I think perhaps we could have fewer locations next year? Might help consolidate the entries, and prevent over-fishing perhaps

andhe - Sorry you were a bridesmaid again. It was dolphinitely fun to do the write-up but I wrote the story that the dice rolls told me. I will admit that I was getting a little worried when I had a three way tie for what turned out to be second place. You know that I have not won it either . . .

Excellent write-up, Excalibur! You've got a knack for describing scenery to set a mood. Well, we still have to set up a poll to vote for best fishing duo/write-up, but I figure since you guys all tied for second (and I also got best total catch?) I should be excluded from that poll Personally, I like the varying locations; it keeps the game interesting and lets the player decide how to spend his/her points - do you play it safe and try to stock up on smaller fish, or go for broke and chase that monster? It's definitely a gamble, and I like to try out different locations and point spreads every year. AK - Ooh, winter challenge!
