Hey everyone! I'm considering doing a summer parts draft (if you are unsure of what a draft is, you can read about them HERE) In this thread, I'd like to see who is interested and what sets you'd like to consider for drafting. I would purchase all of the sets and handle sorting the parts, organizing everything, running the draft, and sending each person's picks to them (you pay for actual postage costs). When doing a draft, I try to find something that's on sale/clearance and that has a wide variety of good parts and interesting minifigs. One contender I'm considering is the Ninjago Lighthouse Siege. MSRP is $77 (including my sales tax), but it's currently on sale at Target for $60, including tax, and shipping is free. Buy-in would start at $30/person, with each person being allowed to purchase a maximum of two "shares" (which would give them 2 draft picks per round instead of 1). The set looks to have a great mix of "Castley" parts, and while the figs aren't ideal for castle builders, I think there's enough in there that's useful. For 767 parts, the price per piece is not bad. When would this start? Depending on the dates, I'm definitely interested. The set is definitely a good one. I'd be fine with drafting it.

We'll need to round up participants, then buy and sort the sets, so I think Mid-July is probably a safe guess.
Payment could be via PayPal or Venmo, and would be due when the sets are purchased.

Plenty of room! How do you guys feel about the set choice? If we are locked in, I'll start acquiring sets and collecting money from the current participants so that we can get started soon-ish.

I'm open to either doing 1 or 2 shares for myself, so that someone who can only afford a $30 buy-in doesn't have to worry about throwing off the balance of how many sets are needed (so far, everyone else is in for 2 shares, so we are nice and even to this point). If we don't get any singles, then the "double" shares will just become singles at $60 and we each will have one pick per round.
Just thought I'd clarify that.
Also, draft order will be snake-style (1, 2, 3, 4, ..., 4, 3, 2, 1)

Set looks fine to me at least I can't think of another at the same price point that has decent parts. Just followed the link and for me at least it is showing on sale for 53.99. so this would definitely be a good one to do.

Yep. We have 9.5% sales tax here, so that bumps the price up to about $60. Still $10 cheaper than MSRP though ($17 cheaper if you figure in the tax, just so it's apples-to-apples)

So since we are moving forward with this set, we can start talking about some general draft procedures. For example, do we want to draft each fig as a pick? Or break the figs into individual parts and draft them as lots? I've done it both ways.
My first thought would be to split them into individual components. Since the figs aren't all that castle-friendly as whole figs, this would allow people to choose small piles of the more useful fig parts.
Even if we draft whole figs, I think accessories such as armor and weapon parts should be separate. "Whole figs" should be considered to be leg assembly, torso assembly, head and hair/hat.

Accessories should definitely be separate. I would go with full minifgs, it's easier to draft, and if anyone wants the full fig, it'll be simpler to draft them that way. Minifigs, depending on how many sets we end up getting, should either be 1 or 2 of the same gig in a separate lot.
