I am looking around and it seems that Lego group triggered dark age is coming. Lack of Castle sets is causing people's interest to wane. One of the examples of that is the lowered activity in buy/sell forum. Any time a product is thriving there is a high level of market activity related to it.
Another sign is diminished interest in jambalayas, figure exchanges and drafts. The last probably because best sets now are elf sets which are not the most castle themed choices.
In any case I sure hope that Lego gets off their duff and gets us decent castle sets (Nexo Knights are not cutting it) so that things can get back to where they belong!

In my case, it's more a case of lack of time, and honestly due to a surplus of parts on my end, as embarrassing as it is to admit, haha. It's just not worthwhile for me to do a jambalaya and pay $10 in shipping when I already have all of the common parts that I really want. The stuff I'm looking to acquire at this point is mainly rare or hard to find stuff, and most people aren't going to put anything like that in a jambalaya box.
I do agree that we are lacking good castle sets and that it is likely driving a "dim" age, but I'm confident that there will be a resurgence when the next castle line comes out. This ebb/flow pattern has been pretty much the norm during my time as an AFOL, going on 7 years or more now.

I am in the same boat as Jordan. My time is limited due to work. 6 days a week and 10+ hours a day avarage last year, plus Mrs Lilcurt, works graveyards. Our Lego is currently in the bedroom, so if she is working that night and I am off, I find other things to do so she can sleep. As to the lack of participation in drafts, jambalaya's, etc... I feel that a lack of sets contribute's to this slow down trend. I am still more then willing to do a draft if we can all agree on a set as to parts trades, I honestly haven't had time to see what I am in need of. Other then a couple black and white spotted cows and a couple goats I do to know what I need. I haven't had time to fully sort and see what I need so honestly have kinda hit a holding pattern of sorts. I am still buying sets here and there though they are Creator sets, and the modulars. If I see a set I can repurpose I will snag it, but really I just have a lack of time to do what I need to do. Plus I have some equipment, I am in the market for so that cuts into Lego funds as well. Am I in a dark age no, but a dim age most certainly

Dim age! Haha. Yes I think I might be crawling into one soon. Though I say that every once in a while when I'm tempted to sell off or downsize parts of my collection then find myself drawn back in by something new and interesting...
Though I would agree that the lack of current 'true castle' theme results in a general lack of excitement or interest in the collector part of me at least.
Though if someone fancies a trade I may be interested in some Chima heads and Star Wars-y parts...

AK - did you just say that you have too many parts? That just can't be On a serious note I think I hear what you're saying. To a degree I'm in a similar situation though I am looking at it from the perspective that it's more about fun and games and a surprise of seeing something oddball that pops up in the jambalaya then a specific need On that note - how about the minifig trade thing? Those are always a blast
