I need them, I want them.. I desire them It's been a little bit too long since the last release - 2013 for the sets, 2014 for the battle packs. Then came Nexo knights. I was hoping that we will be seeing something in 2017 as I don't think we had that many "dry years" in the past..... I know that some see LOTR and the Hobbit sets as "filling" in the "void" but those didn't really "fit" the castle theme - they were at best (IMHO) castle related.

Seeing that Ninjago now seems to be an ongoing theme, and Nexo Knights has another year to run (I think) then it's going to be at least 2018 before there's shelf space made available for that 'boys theme' slot to become available. I also feels like Elves is perhaps taking up that 'fantasy theme' (dragons etc) area that a new Castle theme might use, so I'd see it as unlikely to have to thematically similar lines being produced. That said it doesn't hurt to dream... and we haven't had one of these threads for a while so... here's what I'd like to see... Large 'baddies' castle/volcano integration $/£100 range -Dragon, baddie knights x4, witch/wizard, hero knights x3, captured King/Princess? Medium 'Goodies' outpost - $/£60+ range -Tower with guards X2, stables with two (shock horror!) mounted knights, stable hand, blacksmith, joust/tournamnet practice area. Civilian Mill - $50 rangeWater mill and farm intergration, Civilians x3 (man, woman, child). Two baddie knights. Animals - pig/goat, chickens, cow. Various play features to defeat the baddies. Medium Baddies set - $/£30 rangeHidden/secret base. Small cave. 3xbaddies, 1 goodie knight. Treasure. Small goodies set - $20 rangeSmall Carriage with princess, 1 goodie knight, 1 mounted baddie knight, 2 horses (1 good 1 bad). Alternate build of joust, and showing the princess in the armour etc. Small civilian set - $15cow & cart, 2 civilians Baddie/Goodie battlepack - $10More like the chima/SW battle packs. 2 good knights, 2 bad. Catapult and accessories. Medieval life - People pack - $30-40Variety of civilian figures (with a few knights thrown in for good measure) with a selection of small builds similar to brickset.com/sets/60134-1/Fun-in-the-Park-City-People-Pack or an advent calendar. They are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. Not the most original, but just adding a few elements that I like (civilians, animals and play features...)

I've had a bit more time to think... and want to re-submit my theme. Perhaps if we all submit our ideas we could condense and compile them into the merlins-beard 'dream theme'. Might be fun.
So, moving away from the more traditional goodies/baddies idea, but still trying to keep it within the realms of TLG production possibility (eg not a 1000 piece castle with 100 figs for $10...). I taken my original submission and re-themed it as a Robin Hood type theme where the bad guys are the dominant army. I've kept the Robin Hood analogy to make it obvious, but if this was an actual theme I imagine it would be more generic 'forest outlaws'.
Robin Hood Ultimate Hideaway/mountain base $/£100 range - Outlaws x4, wizard, Baddie knights x4, captured rich Baron
Sheriff's 'Castle' - $/£60-70 range - Tower/Keep with guards X2, stables with two horses, 1x mounted knights, 1x outlaw hero (Robin in disguise as a beggar perhaps), 1x outlaw prisoner, blacksmith (extra armour and accessories, joust/tournament/archery practice area.
Civilian Mill - $50-60 range Water mill and farm intergration, Civilians x3 (man, woman, child). Two baddie knights. Animals - pig/goat, chickens, cow. Various play features to defeat the baddies.
Medium Outlaws set - $/£30-40 range Hidden/secret base. Small cave + tree. 2x outlaws, 2 x baddie knights. Horse. Treasure.
Small Carriage set (Maid Marion's carriage) - $20-30 range Small Carriage with princess, 1 baddie knight, 1 mounted outlaw, 2 horses . Alternate build of joust, and showing the princess in the armour etc.
Small civilian set - $15-20 cow & cart, 2 civilians
Baddie/Goodie battlepack - $10-15 More like the chima/SW battle packs. 2 outlaws, 2 baddies. Catapult and accessories.
Medieval life/ Fun at the fair - People pack - $30-40 Variety of civilian figures x15 (with a few outlaws & knights thrown in for good measure) with a selection of small builds similar to brickset.com/sets/60134-1/Fun-in-the-Park-City-People-Pack or an advent calendar. Jester and other performers. Archery target, that sort of thing.

I really like those ideas - especially the Robin Hood/Forestmen theme returning from the grave. Going along those lines, it would be cool to add a third group to that theme: a more villainous "baddies" team (as opposed to the good-guy rogue Forestmen) who are also outlaws and who give the Forestmen a bad name (because, of course the soldiers in the castle wouldn't differentiate between the two ) I'd also like to see a return of the Vikings sets as they came out during my dark ages and I didn't have a chance to buy any, and a re-release of the LotR sets would be nice as well. I also wish LEGO would just fold and sell us "useful parts" packs - like pick-a-brick at LEGO stores, but sold at regular stores e.g. Walmart; they could release them for each theme. examplePirates - swords, pistols, fish, bottles, pirate gear, etc.

I would like to see more fantasy based sets if LEGO was going to do a new castle wave. It would be good to get more elf style hair in yellow skin colour instead of tan.

It would be interesting to see the Forestmen returning, but as the good guys this time, with a villainous, greedy king and his thug henchmen knights. Maybe the CMF bear knight, but as an entire faction.

Oh man what I wouldn't give for some Robin Hood / forestmen themed stuff! And I'm with AK, they should be good, like Robin Hood himself, stealing from those corrupt black dragon knights and giving to the needy (and romancing the princess while they're at it)!

Some great ideas. I wonder if we can pull a mine craft move and enter a set that would take off (granted we don't have a video game to help us).
What I kind of expensive envisioned was $40 to $60 set as that seems to be the Lego ideas sweetspot.
I think that the set should have 4 to 5 minifigure. First choice is whether to have 2 soldiers for each side and a maiden (or wizard or king) or 4 for one side and a maiden or wizard or king. The latter choice could have the maiden wizard or king be on the opposite side then the 4 soldiers.
Then the set could have a small half building (think blacksmith setup or a armory for competition or training)
Variation could be 4 soldiers vs wizard/king with a dragon and a small sacred site type of a structure where a relic could be stored.

Andhe, I think you are putting the prices that we'd likemail to see, but are realistically about 20% less on what Lego prices the sets nowadays. Castle/keep runs at least $100.

Just thought of something.... a version of Guarded Inn would be a great project. Only thing is that I'd make it with 2 civiliansl(mother and child), 1 good soldier (husband) and two baddies.

I would like them to redo some of the hobbit sets, and do some more Lord of The Rings sets. They really missed some opportunities with pelankr fields, Minas Tirith, battle packs would've been nice too. Matbe if they just did fictional monsters against fictional monsters, like chima, but in a more medieval setting instead of cyber punkish stuff.

I don't think that LOTR and Hobbit are an option at all as those are licensed sets and the opportunity for those came and went.

while looking for something else I came across this - r.ebay.com/MlGO64 while not necessarily what I was envisioning, it does fit the size of what I was thinking about... of course priced stupidly expensive cause it's ebay
